If the sky weren't lit, had to find my place
I would see your face in the door
If the sun would glint on the time we spent
All the time that ain't no more
Chase the broken hearts in the vacant lots
See that fruit that rots on the tree
Try to turn my head, leave it all for dead
But it's in my mind always

Honey, Lately, I've been weighed down
Load on my mind
Honey Lately I've been weighed down
Load on my mind

Someone tell me, where did it go?
Darlin', I'm damned if I know
I seen that look in your eye
No one ever gave it a chance
I could've seen in advance
You saw it all in a glance

And Goodbye, Goodbye.

Take a salty kiss from this cup of bliss
Watching new light twist on the bridge
Try to paint it red
Leave it all for dead
But it's in my mind always

Honey, Lately, I've been weighed down
Load on my mind
Honey Lately I've been weighed down
Load on my mind

Someone tell me, where did it go?
Darlin', I'm damned if I know
I seen that look in your eye
No one ever gave it a chance
I could've seen in advance
You saw it all in a glance
And Goodbye, Goodbye.

This is not my favorite song, but I actually quite like this whole album. It has a more grand sound to it, especially compared to the somewhat poppy White Ladder. David Gray grows on you. Brian
very circular - moving in circles - in slow motion - very repetitive - moving in circles - in slow motion - no dynamics - very circular - moving in circles - in slow motion - very repetitive - moving in circles - in slow motion - no dynamics - very circular - moving in circles - in slow motion - very repetitive - moving in circles - in slow motion - no dynamics - very circular - moving in circles - in slow motion - very repetitive - moving in circles - in slow motion - no dynamics - very circular - moving in circles - in slow motion - very repetitive - moving in circles - in slow motion - no dynamics - very circular - moving in circles - in slow motion - very repetitive - moving in circles - in slow motion - no dynamics -
I like Van Morrison, so I liked this.
Is it over yet??
Van Morrison meets iceberg lettuce.
saw him in concert last night. great show, played lots of old tunage (pre-Babylon). worth the money and the transit trip to the outdoor venue in the middle of suburbia.

If I have been introduced to David Gray with his last two albums I would think him a bit pedestrian. But, like so many artists, his earlier work was amazing. He was filled with passion and was going for it - No dumbing down, no aplogies. If you don't like his current music, I don't blame you, but if you can get ahold of him pre-"White Ladder" you will find his work much more sincere and almost biting.

He has a moaning whiny voice that grates on one note all of the time?
This guy does absolutely nothing for me.

Sorry mate, not as good as your other stuff
You said it, deanofox.
...the brother of Tracy Chapman? ...sounds identic anyhow...
Nice to hear.
Shades of 'Gimme Shelter' in the intro...
Sorry mate, not as good as your other stuff
What's not to like about David Gray... Sounds authentic to me.. .. reminds me a little bit of Van Morrison...
I think this is the best song from Life in Slow Motion.

I fell in love with white ladder & think now that I may have overplayed it. This song is decent and may grow on me, but I feel that all of his songs have started to mesh into one. His vocal style leaves a little to be desired. But I have to give him props cuz he's been doing his thing for several years!
Please give some more info on White Ladder, since you know it so well . . .
I am a huge David Gray fan, but this album does leave something to be desired IMO. He is such a talented guy who has done such a great job of furthering his musical career on his own terms, what's with SONY now?

It's good to hear him singing with a bit of gusto for a change! I found some of his earlier stuff a bit soporific.
another great new tune from David Gray! thanks :)
