Steve Forbert is one of the most under appreciated singer-songwriters of the last 40 years. Thankful for RP for keeping his music available to new listeners. Can’t possibly listen to this song without smiling and singing along.

This song cropped up (probably here) a few years ago when my life was unraveling. Divorce and whatnot. This song got on my regular playlist. Listened to it many times that year. I think the melody and lyrics saved my life.
I recorded onto cassette when it was new, great album, great songwriter.
Anyone with an album titled 'Jackrabbit Slim' is worthy of good ratings!

A pure and fresh talent. I listen to steve's music since 40 years and i'm never tired of his simple and deep songs.
My daughter was born in the time of this song- so much hope before reality took over and the marriage fell to drugs and booze. Fortunately recovery entered later and we’re all on good terms.

I'd forgotten all about this tune. It was fun when it came out but it wasn't a standout hit--more like soundtrack to an 80s teen movie. The lyrics keep it fresh.

My 'spot the intro' neurones fired off on this one, showing how many are occupied from the dim and distant past. Maybe that explains why I can't remember unimportant stuff, like what I ought to be doing, or what was I doing before I leapt to write this comment! RP is terrible for productivity...

been a while since I've heard this. Probably Classic Rock Radio in LaRose Louisiana before they became Cajun music
Was strangely sort of lumped in with "New Wave" when it came out. But then he was quickly sabotaged by the "New Dylan" label and that's the kiss of death for a career. But I loved this record.

It's a shame, like so many other artists, they get relegated to the few "hits" of their careers and no attention is given to the rest of their catalog.
