I love Belle and Sebastian, they are a perfect fit on RP. More B&S would be a great addition to the already fantastic roatation
I worked with a gal who had two dogs, named Belle and Sebastian.  I thought I had found a mutual fan, however came to learn that she had never heard of the band.  She had named her dogs after the Disney characters.  Disappointing, and sick...

Oh my god, it's like, " Kate Bush Meets the Monkees!"
Anyybody here old enough to remember Haircut 100?  :)

They're a 7-member band, not a duo. The name "Belle and Sebastian" doesn't refer to anyone in the band. It's taken from the name of children's book & TV show.from the mid-1960s.

Entirely too twee and unbelievably annoying. . .

I'm really, really trying to keep an open mind here but this may be the worst song I've ever heard.    It just might have to move ahead of "Feelings", "Tie a Yellow Ribbon", "Wind Between My Wings", and others on my list of the worst songs ever recorded.
Love this band, love this album, love this song. So unpretentious and fun.
Horrible...

This remembers me Jorge Ben Jor, a brazilian singer... eca!
Waaaaah!
that intro was great. It somehow breathed a breath of late sixties - early seventies fresh air into my brain.

pshaw! this song is most excellent

It sounds as if a bunch of brilliant four-year olds were given a couple of popular 60's songs and asked to create something, "along those lines".

This band is much better than this song.  I am not sure why this song got picked, but it is not at all representative of their excellent music.

My thoughts exactly!

I suggest White Collar Boy and Act of the Apostle (Track 1) from this album.  Two of their finest.

More emo drivel... Haircut 100 did this kind of crap in the '80s. I will admit that there was a bit of guitar in there that I liked but it only saved it from sucko-barfo.

LOL!!! {#High-five}

Truly horrible stuff.

just plain gawd awful!
MUTE ftw...

the more I hear this, the more my head hurts {#Headache}
the ratings bar needs an "annoying" rating . . .
I don't care what anyone says. This is the highlight of the entire Life Pursuit CD...which is full of great tunes. No matter how many times I hear this goofy tune, it still makes me smile!
Makes me want to ride a scooter through the city wearing a tam o'shanter with a sunshine lens flare following me...
Ew. Noise.

I've had just enough caffeine that the little guitar man is actually keeping time to this song. Fun song! lmic wrote:
Wow! Sounds like a mash-up of The Beach Boys with Archie Bell & The Drells, with the guitar work off 'Who's That Lady?' by The Isley Brothers! Interesting to say the least!

one of the few things that I've ever heard on RP that I have to turn off. Can not abide this.
Wow, after a bunch of snoozer songs today this is a welcome bit of energy and sugary fun

Pop Perfect.

5.9 is absurdly low for this song. Losers.
Please ... to follow the incredible musicianship of 'Nothing is Easy' with this "song" ... well .... all I can say is that Mr. Goldsmith missed the mark on this segue .... (IMNSHO)
yeah, how is it that this song only got a 5.9? this song is so much fun.

Actually kinda nice
Sounds like it could be background music to a British sitcom from the 70's.
Not a bad band. Not a good song.
This is unbelieveably well done bad music. da-da-da-ta-dada-...ack!
I don't discount that what they're doing, they do very well. It's just that what they're doing sure ain't my cuppa. Twee Are the World, indeed.

YUP! Too bad more people weren't happy, like us!
Too cute by way too much. Blech.
killer little guitar riff......
what's this...? Oh, I feel something...
YUCK!!!!!!
Bubblegum music if I've ever heard it. Abnoxious and annoying as hell. This fad can't pass fast enough.
It's almost reflexive to rate anything I hear higfher after suffer through a Jethro Tull song. I'd take Belle and Sebastian anytime over Tull.
Yep, nice tune =) OScar

Hello Nick in NC, let me also highly recommend The Boy with The Arab Strap, although really all three of the first albums are essential. Cheers, your neighbor to the south...
hey flyfree!! Thanks for you suggestion. I got TBWTAS few weeks ago. Boy, this band is just awesome. I still don't listen to Tigermilk yet, but soon. greetings from CLT.
so annoying.
Twee Are the World.
Ooh! More Belle & Sebastian. Have anything from Tigermilk or Dear Catastrophe Waitress?
Still loving this album...the best thing they've put out in years, with the best production. There are so many songs, like this one, that are upbeat and irresistible.

Why did you have to follow Crowded House and Four Tet with this song. I had turned the volume on my computer way up and was gellin out. SCRATCH! (Like the needle being drug over a record.)
I've seen the needle and the damage done. (I like this one.)

I'm FAAAAAAAALLLLLLING asleep...
i find this more annoying with every listen..
I'd never heard these guys live until I checked out this show on NPR. Pretty damn cool live I think!

Ever since I was a young boy, I played the silver ball. From Soho down to Brighton, I must have played them all. But I ain't seen nothin' like him in any amusement hall That deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball...
my son plays them and there are much better songs than this! Sounds like the Peppermint Trolley Comapany...
I can't shake my head that fast! I give it a 8!
The guitar makes me think of Haircut 100's "Favourite Shirts"
from 7 to 9

Anybody been studyin' the rating histograms? Quite a few songs have nearly normal distributions with their mode around 7. Some songs, like this one have a somewhat bimodal distribution, with two peaks - 3 & 7 in this case. So this is ho-hum while at the same time quite likeable.
Well alright, lets have some boxes, arrows, and squares. Make some charts.... Your alright randomprime

Yup. I like the beginning...papapappapaaaa :D really groovy! This is superb after "Dear Catastrophe Waitress", which is the best song my B&S, in my humble opinion.
Hmm, strangely enough I find myself liking this song more and more every time I hear it!
Groovy baby.
I would never have guessed that this was a Belle and Sebastian song. I like their other stuff, but I really like this too.
That 60s sound you all are trying (and failing) to identify, is The Swingle Singers. And they're still around, though I'm sure there can't be many, if any, of the original members still in the group.
The intro of this song sounds like Style Council covering RUSH.
A totally perverse amalgam of early 60s Hollywood movie pop and mid 60s psychedelic. Visions of Peter Max and "That Girl" dance together hideously, in my head. Oy!!

It just shows the diversity of people that RP brings together. I know there is alot of great music out there. I just don't know if I like it or not.

I am generally not a B & S fan, But I really like this song. I'm interested in hearing more from this album.

1970's car commercial jingle + the Carpenters + a dash of decent guitar sampling + some really good weed = THIS
TO the contrary, I have never heard any memorable Belle & Sebastian, but find myself enjoying this tune! Definitely worth boppin around to!
That's it, Belle and Sebastian has gone totally bonkers!
I really like most of their other stuff, but not this song. It's OK, not great--a 5

SLEEPYHEADS! Right...! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarn!!!
Has kind of a "Houses of the Holy" Zeppelin feel to it. I like it better than the other songs I've heard from them. Good stuff!
Sounds Like it is getting played 2/3rds faster than it should be! But it's fun and I like the other stuff I have heard from them!
Weird combo of sounds. Is that Ernie Isley playing geetar?
