To me, Neil Finn is one of the greatest songwriters ever, and this is a great example. Plus, his airy falsetto gets me all gooey.

This album reminds me of a great drive from NH to Stowe VT in 1991. Being newly married, no kids, October days, not much money in our pockets, hardly any responsibility except trying to figure out where to stay the next few nights. Such a long ways ago. sweet times.

I'd always liked this group, but never got blown away by them until this landmark album... It awakened me to the astounding musical genius of Neil Finn and the talent and enigmatic personalities of his band-mates. They were at their best on this and "Together Alone."

It doesn't bug me, but Split Enz and Crowded House were just played today within 30 minutes.  My guess is he's referring to any project with one or more Finns.

Okay, RP this is a first for me after many years of support and listening:  For Gawd's sake, please stop playing multiple Finn Bros tunes every day!!  I am beating my head against the wall now because of the commercial radio-grade repetition.  Too much of a good thing is ... TOO MUCH.  I love The Beatles, but would speak up the same if I heard this same kind of repetition of their work, and the Finn Bros are no Beatles.

Now a 6 >> 2.  That's due to the overplay.

A pop masterpiece. Finn's voice is sublime. Sometimes after I hear this I have to hit mute for anything that follows so I can just absorb the after-effects of it all. And as others have noted, Jesse Cook's version is also lovely.

Is it really possible that this is already over 21 years old? What a line-up they had on this record and tour, and what an incredible show they gave us at CU's Macky Auditorium that summer! and whoah, what a fantastic collection of excellent songs on this record. MAGIC! I still put it on often, and let it play through and again...there is something both melancholy and intensely joyful about the whole effect... I LOVE CH!

Yes I've always felt this wonderful song is slightly let down by the production here. Would have loved to hear what Youth could have done with it - much preferred his style on 'Together Alone' to that of Mitch Froom on the earlier albums.

The Rolling Stone reviewer took offense to the depiction of certain social strata in this country in the song "Chocolate Cake." I, OTOH, thought it was hilarious. I worked a show with Neil Finn back in 2002 or so... he's a VERY nice guy. Amazing show at a small club. I feel priviliged to have worked with him. This song is a solid '9' for me.
