Whether or not we are aware
we are being judged somewhere
every action every thought you think
is etched on you indelibly.
Do I take you as I find you
despite your reputation?
I'm an angel by comparison.

Getting drawn in.
So much older.
I know I'm searching
there's nothing here.

Sacred Life you seem to lead me
far away from what I'm here for.
If all I've seen and felt is true
why do I feel this way for you?

Do I take you as I find you
despite your reputation?
I'm an angel by comparison.

What ever happened to Hank Dogs?? Weird family dynamics aside, they seemed talented.

They issued a second album, Half Smile, on SpinART in 2002. Their FB page has them playing gigs in England as late as 2012.

The name 'Hank Dogs' is derived from 'Ankh Anubis'; Ankh being the Egyptian symbol known as the key of life and Anubis, the  jackal-headed Egyptian god of the dead.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the mythology or they just liked the name.

Thanks for that - interesting. It puts paid to my less than wholesome thoughts about Hank dogging... ;-)

I disagree, I don't hear The Cranberries at all in their songs. Delores O'Riordan overemphasizes her Irish accent and inflection when she sings and C-berry songs are more pop-oriented with much more sophisticated production.

This is really, really nice...  love it...

You do NOT want to know...
PSD button really enhances the eclectic nature of RP. I just realized that you can keep clicking on it until you get something you want from the RP library. Each click is quite a revelation and shows the breadth of tunes just waiting for us
I love this album. I can't explain why.

I thought the same thing (Delores O'Riordan), but no, it's not.

Really nice. Love the acoustic guitar.
Such an elegant composition for individuals with a rough and tumble history. sort of why music is so interesting. And why people are so complex.....

That's what Bareback means.  Everybody knows that, as Mr. Cohen would say.

With the modern meaning of the verb "to dog" (to hang about in car parks after dark watching and having sex with strangers), I'd expect it means that Hank goes dogging without using a condom ;)

Much better than the dogs/M16 song. Maybe because it's not overplayed here like that was.
Superb, wish they'd come out with another CD.
is this RP or NPR?
man, what is going on with the playlist today
hopefully it's not a format change...........
I like it...The acoustic is relaxing, isn't it
What a nice piece for driving away!!
Ugh.
I feel like I'm sitting in Hell's coffee shop on open mic night.
The guitar is great, but seriously, what the bleep is going on with those half-assed vocals?!?!?!!
"every action and every thought you think is etched on you indelibly" - I bloody well hope not, given the cobblers that goes through my mind on a regular basis! Nice to hear another Hank Dogs number on RP after the '18 dogs' one. 7 from the Nottingham jury, which is still wondering who Hank is and does he go dogging? ;-)

Damn, I LOVE this piece!!

Wonderful. Especially following Arcade Fire
Lovely, atmospheric piece.
Stumbled about the intro...and got stick to the rest of this song. It creates a beautiful mood.... Am I right?

It is indeed his daughter (and his wife). I was thinking, gosh, the girl sounds just like her mom. But that's not her mom; she's his daughter from a previous marriage. So there you go. Beautiful stuff.
What a lovely guitar intro. Lovely throughout actually
Sweet... Just requested this... Bill's the man!
Intriguing... the harmonies are soothing against the guitar. A worthy addition.
Love Hank Dogs! 'specially bare back!

Bloody celtic yammering. Far too much of it on RP...
I think this is nice What kind of "yammering" would you prefer? Anyway, you know where your mute button is, doncha?
mmm, tasty.
MinMan, you are funny! I love THAT song too. I first heard Hank Dogs on another (lesser) online station. Took a couple days to hear several songs from 'Bareback', but after three, including the title track, I got up from my desk and walked across the street to the record store and bought it. Hank Dogs just grabs me somehow. Maybe it IS Celtic yammering, but so what? 'Bareback' is a stunning album all the way through. c.

You know, I can be as hedonistic as the next person, but what the hell does the woman's looks have to do with the music? Why don't all you people making those comments go listen to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake and leave the rest of us alone. BTW - agree with the Cranberries comments, the music is OK, but nothing killer.

Tasty. If the rest of the album is as magical as this, then I'll be forced to pick it up.

What a BEAUTIFUL guitar intro!
wow... I agree they sound like the cranberries but I prefer the guitar backing with this mob. Very nice...looks like another trip to amazon.de is in order Darn you and your great music Bill! You're gonna send me broke!

Thanks, I loved this whole album, and I should really buy it again.
7 points plus 1 for the cover cuties
Sounds kind of like The Cranberries - same inflection in the singer's voice.
The cranberries called, they want their sound back.
Miss you, Timothy!
Wish it was just the guitars.
Very whiney.
they have two albums, and should be played more, so please more Hank Dogs
Another good track from a CD I bought way back after hearing "18 Dogs" on RP. "Thought Messages" would also go well on RP, imho.
