I was never young, even as a child.
Said, I was never young; I've always felt beguiled.
Oh, I just never smiled, but you have a glow, a glow from an inner sense I'll never know.

'Cause I was never young, even as a boy.
No, I was never young; kindness seemed no ploy to temper or annoy.
But you, you have a mind full of wonderment I'll never find 'cause I was never young.

I was never young

Ever since I was a kid, I've been a brooding basket case.

sounds to me like they listened to "fear of music" repeatedly before going into the studio.

I don't know if it was the bridge or what, but one part of the song really sounded like the song from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.
Lord help me, I can hear both.
O.K., I guess it's all right if they return from Antarctica for this one. Not a huge fan of this band by any stretch, but this one beats the Antarctica song any day.
I actually find that the male vocals that sound more "spoken" repeated throughout remind me of some old Sparks stuff. Example: "Eaten By The Monster Of Love"

Right on! Something from that would be a nice follow up as well...Bill?

Of Montreal, TWICE in one day. YEAH!
... never young... it's partly a state of mind... SHAME for them!
dude, and I almost bought this crap!
Quirkily interesting

hah! too true... and I came by to compliment them on the Stereolab ripoff. now all i can hear is TMNT.

sooo much better than the dustin hoffman album. But maybe that's partly because this wasn't recorded on an four track in someone's basement of course, what better song title is there than: "Dustin Hoffman Becomes Indignant and Wets Himself"

A friend of mine turned me on to these guys a few weeks ago. This is a massively addictive CD. A lot of the little production flourishes & arrangements that seemed over-the-top quirky really start to work nicely once you've heard them a few times. Highly recommended.
Yeah that is about right. I bought 3 (this one, gorillaz demon days (not as good as their first) and john butler trio) albums at one time about a month ago and I still havn't listened to one (john butler trio) of them all the way through. Of Montreal seems to have a permant spot (#3) in my changer.

I like the chance to hear new stuff like this, even if I don't care for it. Thanks Bill. Hope somebody else likes it.
It is nothing like what I'm used to hearing (I'm more of a bluesy, rock and roll guy first) but I do like this one anyway. Interesting sound.
Wow - I am really digging this! Been hearing lots of this group on RP lately - had never heard of them at all beforehand. I love the combination of various elements here, especially the horns.

I hear the Talking Heads influence with these guys, but it actually reminds me more of Tom Tom Club, which included just a couple Heads as I understand it, and generally had (to my ears) a more synthy, pop sound than a lot of the Talking Heads stuff. Moved from a 6 to a 7 for me - and I'm actually starting to appreciate that bizarre ending.
Influences? More Chumba Wumba if you ask me.
6 now, but probably on its way up.
I like the Talking Heads influence
Wire? Buzzcocks? Joy Division? Sometimes I find it annoying when bands wear their influences on their sleeves... In this case, I don't mind. EDIT: Um, we just swicthed to a new song? Maybe I do mind after all.
Why I am suddenly thinking of the guy who was a Jedi as a child?
WOW! What was THAT?! I want to hear more. Note to self: check this out.
I thought was hip to sound like Joy Division nowadays? Maybe the Talking Heads is the next big retro-hip thing.
DEVO wanna be's?

Long live anything sounding remotely like Talking Heads. This is the third song I have heard by these dudes, and I just decided I really like them and their style

I realize they're an "indie" band, but does that mean they need to try *everything* in one track? PS: They at least have a pretty acceptable singer. That can be a big killer for a group before they establish themselves.
Strange, but interesting. 6 for now.
