Yeah, "come back in two weeks when we can take care of your medical issue." Gun and crime problems in general in largely homogeneous societies like "The Great White North" are typically less than in this "melting pot." FWIW, 75% of the gun homicides are criminal-related. Your gun control is a huge, costly failure anyway. I think the U.S. economy is pretty stable - it can generate a few bucks now and again. I reiterate, if Young doesn't like it here leave or become a citizen and put his vote where his mouth is. Now back to his protestation...
He is singing about Canada right? Oh I forgot he has a ranch in California, therefore he must be singing about Arnold?
when did neil young become such a name dropper? assuming the song was at all worth remembering to begin with, he's certainly ruined any longevity it might have had by dating it so specifically.

What is a "technicality" to you may mean something more to people whose jobs are taken by people who are willing to work at whatever a crooked employer will pay. The "throwing out" argument is a complete red herring. In short, your premise is ridiculous and your logic is fallacious.

That's only because he's painted himself into a corner. Anyway, anti-Bush sentiments can only take you so far, as Neil Young proves here. This album is just awful.

Clearly, numb-nuts here has been getting all his news from either FOX or nitwit radio. It was Paul Wolfowitz who "predicted" the war would be paid for by Oil revenues. He said: "We're dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon,".(In my estimation that line sums up the competence of Bushs cabinet) You do know about Wolfowitz don't you? He's one of the Brain-trust who architected the war. Pundit indeed... If I were to go to Iraq and take hundreds of pictures of the civilians, I could pick out at least twenty or so smiling ones and publish them with the caption, "They love us here". "Where the hell were you when the Army helped the Iraqis bring down the Saddam statue? ". Probably the same place as you chump but smart enough to be looking at the war from many points of view. That little act of spontaniety was staged btw. And I hope to hell we are proven wrong and you are right. But if this countrys recent history of incompetant foreign "policy" is anything to go on, your great grandchildren are going to be paying for the "unintended conseqences" of mr. bushs nasty little war. And the song gets a ten. Just becuase he's Neil and and he pisses off so many people.

The Dixie Chicks made an offhand remark; Neil Young wrote and recorded an entire album. Albums take time to write and record. And why is the timing so significant, anyway? Young is either making valid points, or he isn't, but it is those points we should be discussing, not something as arbitrary as their timing.

Neil is dumb like a fox. Streaming it for free because his anti-government sentiment wouldnt be accepted? B.S. A great way to create a buzz, is all.

This is a great song that asks a timely question. Where are all the leaders. Does it always have to be about politics? Can't we get one leader who will sacrifice his short term self interest for the long-term good of the country? That being said, Neil Young is a true patriot. Why aren't all the young hot shots out there writing any meaningful music?

I think its safe to say that many comments and quotes are available that come directly from the mouths of numerous senior Bush administration officials, including George himself, have been proven painfully and bloodily wrong. And yes someone in the admin. did say that Iraqi oil would pay for the war. Its pretty easy to look up. Maybe you're right and 20 years from now things will all be hunky dory. But I think its understandable in the light of current events that many Americans, left, right, and center, are less than optimistic. I think you should be careful in assuming that any who disagree with Bush are left wing. Many like myself chose to use both wings so that we don't flop around like lame ducks.

You got a point of sort, but being Canadian doesn't mean you can't voice an opinion. You see, we are the same as two neighbors living on the same street. Now Canadians are fighting (and getting killed) in Afganistan so more US troops can be deployed in Irak. Politics, because the canadian Prime Minister of the time didn't approve the Irak war, but was bullied around by Mr Bush to do something to help his needy neighbor. I live a mere 40 minutes drive from the U.S. border where I know a theater, the Haskell Opera house in wich the entrance, main office, and most of the seats are in the U.S., but the library books and the opera house stage are in Canada. The border line is visible across the theater. That's how I see our countries. And you know what? There is a real community sense emerging from that place mixing Americans/Canadians (and some french speaking on both sides of the border- being another factor). Benefits? Both countries get some from the other. If you are against what Young says, please use your freedom of speech to voice an opinion on the matter at hand, not the guy. That's a benefit you can use yourself. Thank you.

Once again Neil's colon has voided itself and we need a zero rating. Neil can do much better than this, musically. Any high-school music teacher could have come up with this. It's just not worthy.
When did this come out?
A 10 because it is a great political song in a world filled with so much pop schlock, only Neil Young can still pull this off.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was as easy to find a leader as it is for neil to sing about finding a leader?
Thanks for giving this album so much airplay, Bill.
Mr. Inconsistent strikes again. "A leader with the Great Spirit" ?Sheesh! Hey, maybe that's George Bush (in an ironic and freakish kind of way)? I can understand the sentiment, but these lyrics are an embarrassment for an artist of Neil's stature.
It might not work too well in ten years, but I sure like hearing it now! And what is with the beef about political music the source of most all those 1 scores I suspect)? Music is an effective form of communication, part of why we are all plugged into RP, right? Politics is almost all about communication. So what's the problem?
