Save me
Save me from you
But pave me
The way to you
Lead me upon the captive free
Gracious and tame like love can be
Lead me upon

Spoil me
Spoil me with you
And sell me with the world of you
Watch over me with a mother's eyes
Judging my worth only to glorify
Watch over me

Save me save me
Save me save me
Carry
Carry me through
And bury all my doubts of you
Clothe my desire with spell or prayer
I'll shroud every sign of need I swear
Clothe my desire

Save me save me
Save me save me
Save me save me
Save me save me

My father died this morning at 1:15 AM in Florida… the grief is unreal.  The bad doesn’t cancel out the good
k.d. soothes every time

Americana works.
She's Canadian, so of course she's amazing, but that voice. Absolutely effortless, such feeling, amazing accuracy. Distinctive perfection.
In her early days:

Not a fan of music? Then why are you here, my friend?
KD has so many virtues that it [almost] induces me to like Alberta!
Almost too beautiful! What a voice and what a song!

Wow! Her voice is soooo smoooth and silky and sung with such emotion. Had to stop what I was doing to totally devote myself to listening.

Correct, also known as North Texas
Probably the only song that asks one to pave them.
Love you kd!

Her voice makes my mind soar.

Hey!  It's Elivs...  Oh...  ooops.
Such an ironically elegant voice in a soulful tune...
ingenue — awesome album.
I really like her voice.  Haven't heard this song before, but it's pretty good
First time hearing this and it's a yawner.
Wow - haven't heard this in a long time. Exquisite! Thanks RP.
great tune ~ some people suck
She probably has one of the top female voices right now—-mmmmm, purty.
I have heard some of the Canadian cover songs album, and it is, as someone here pointed out, really excellent.

THis whole CD is outstanding. I saw her in concert just after this came out and she was very good in a live venue.

such a great gift of voice but very prozac. just not enough dynamics and passion to make a song memorable

Yes! This is, in fact, an awesome CD. The production is magnificent, never mind the artistry.

Pondering how much the silky guitar enhances the silky voice.

Ms. Lang. Alberta mist. . .

God I love her singing.
I too had forgotten how good this cd is. Her voice is smooth as silk.
Wow!
Cannot avoid saying something about her: Gorgeous! I have also completely forgotten about this album. This is just one incredible song.
Haven't heard this in so long I forgot what it was!
I haven't listened to the CD for ages and has forgotten how much I like it. I'll have to pull it out and listen to it again.

I caught the same show in Concord, CA...kd was indeed warm, funny, and melted the audience...Lyle was incredible, too. It was a very fine night of music, just wish that kd was the headliner
kd in general and this wonderful song in particular take me far, far away
Dreary..... on and on and on.....

That CD has been in HEAVY rotation for me for a long time. There is only one song in rotation here, maybe nobody else has uploaded anything? Maybe I will...

Hmmm, I've been following lang's career since she began and I've always been under the impression that she's been the receipient of widespread critical acclaim (as well as a fair amount of popular appeal). As for collaboration, I think she's a big enough talent to have little need for it. She has nonetheless done a lot of it. She was one of the backup singers in the Roy Orbison tribute "A Black & White Night". She collaborated with the famous Nashville producer Owen Bradley to produce one of her best albums, "Shadowland". She was joined for the final song by Loretta Lynn, Brenda Lee, and Kitty Wells on "Honky Tonk Angels' Medley". With Tony Bennett, duets on the Grammy winning "A Wonderful World" album. with Jane Siberry ("Calling All Angels") with Roy Orbison ("Cryin") again with Tony Bennett (1994, "Moonglow" from MTV Unplugged) with Madeleine Peyroux (Joni Mitchell's "River" 2006) with Elton John ("Teardrops")
I've loved K.D. Lang's work from the very beginning too. I even saw 'Salmonberries', a movie she starred in. Great soundtrack too. Her voice has always been stunning. She said once early in her career that she felt like she was channeling Patsy Cline, and after hearing her sing a P.C. song I can't say she was wrong. As for collaboration, I don't think 'needing' has anything to do with it. See the Roy Orbison tribute: everybody and his dog is on that stage, from Elvis Costello to Bruce Springsteen to the man of the hour hizownself. The Traveling Wilburys clearly did not 'need' to collaborate, they did it for fun and respect for their fellow musicians. Just to be on the same stage with Roy Orbison (among other legends) was surely reason enough. More K.D. and Patsy, please! c.
this, ~ and 'constant craving' ~ just....do it for me.
Saw her and Lyle Lovett this past Friday in KC. KD was fantastic Lyle was good.
Is it just me, or is the morning's line up way too mellow? I'm going to fall asleep any minute, despite the coffee.

LOL!! I didn't know it until you just said it but that is precisely what they are.
I've always been a fan of KD, but it' not the kind of music I would generally give an 8. Except this time--most excellent IMO.

I can clearly remember her in her cow-punk "turn me round" days ... playing this wierd ska-country music and jumping around like a nut-case. She was amazing to watch.. her energy was something to behold... even in all the brash noise and chaos of those late 80's This album, IMO is probably one of the best vocal albums in history.. simply put KD has probably one of the best voices in music Hands down... I heard her do Constant Craving live and it raised the hair on the back of my neck. She is probably the best export out of Alberta ... except for all the Mad Cows
Audio equivalent of Nytol.

Even at my most ignorant, immature, homophobic, bigoted, redneck douchebagged(pronounced bag-ed) younger self this would have shut me up.

She was on some tv talk show early in her career and I'll never forget the host's remark to her when she came over to sit and talk after singing "Pulling Back the Reins": "Girl, you sing your face off!"
First time I've heard her on RP. I think she is pure heaven in big clunky boots.
Meh. A little too mellow for me.
What a wacky segue! From total crap sellout to pure, honest Canadian silk. K.D. Lang can do no wrong, for me!
I haven't busted out a 1 in a while, but this one earns it with a vengeance.
Say what you want about kd lang; the girl can sing! Great song from arguably her best album.
Like Buttah
Brilliant and beautiful, as is the rest of the Ingenue album.

Classic with huge power!

Her voice has a lot of power and resonance. She did "Skylark" for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil soundtrack. I like her renditions of older songs on "Shadowlands". Its on my list of what to upload once I figure out how to do that. Its been one good tune after another today, in my book.
such an under-used voice! I wish she would branch out or collaborate more.
A beautiful slice of perfection - 10
Aaaahhhh.... No mistaking that wonderful voice. I've always been surprised she hasn't done more or reached more acclaim.
She also does an incredible version of Roy Orbison's "Crying".

Gorgeous Voice, saw her sing the Hollies cheesy tune "Air That I Breathe" and she just OWNED it. Gorgeous and languid. Decadent and luxurious.
Thank you, thank you! More kd, please!
She should get together with Chris Isaak sometime.

This entire CD is awesome! kd's voice is perfectly suited for this genre of music.
I completely agree. A friend of mine turned me on to her and I have never regretted a single CD. "Drag" is great, too. All the songs are somehow related to cigarettes, smoking, etc. It a fun game to play and figure out what the connection is in the lyrics.
love K.D. anytime, anywhere, such a beautiful voice -Goddesslike

One of the best voices (Male or Female) I have ever heard. I can remember seeing her in the Cow-Punk days at clubs in Vancouver thinking "What the Hell is this?" However... I believe that she has probably the purest voice I have ever heard. Regardless of what you think of her looks or lifestyle... she is probably one of the greatest singers ever.
Do you remember those godawful glasses she used to wear to top off that "look"? Hard to take her voice seriously until she calmed that part down... Now, I'm just in love...
Bummer, I missed hearing this song! One of my favorite albums for sure! Reminds me of such a wonderful time in my life...
