Try talking to you,
While you do, while you do.
I swap places with you,
Just to see, things through.
Just sing me the tune,
And you'll see,
I'll keep it here for you,
I'll wait for your cue.

You wrote down all the words,
Black and white,
On a wall.
Just keepin' it so,
Yeah you know how it goes.
No plans for a change, nothing strange,
No not today, no way.
Now sing me the tune.

Cash it in and throw it all away,
Never needed any of it anyway.

So you twist, and you turn,
Uncomfortable fool, you'll never learn.
But you can, take a stand.
Forget all about the plans California rose.

Side one, track two,
On a record of you.
I've even stuck on a groove,
That I don't wanna lose.
Just play it again, as a friend,
It's your favorite worn-in shoes.
Now sing me the tune.

Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah,
Never needed any of it anyway.

So you crash, and you burn,
Sometimes the road will twist and turn.
Some of this, less of that,
Forget all about the map, California road.

Cash it in and throw it all away,
Never needed any of it anyway.

Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah,
Never needed any of it anyway.

Cash it in and throw it all away,
Never needed any of it anyway.

Cash it in and throw it all away,
Never needed any of it anyway.

OMG, I'm reading old posts...but hey you're having a laugh! These Brits? She's Australian. That's not Brit by a long stretch. But then again you might be some other nationality that doesn't get it. LOL ; )

could do without the attempted vocal acrobatics.

This is the one Zero7 CD that I do not own. No feeling this song at all.

Yuk!!!
I really like most of these guys' stuff but this vocal styling  is soooo dopey pop-ish, I can't take it.
Great words of wisdom for the Advent season.
Very pop music sounding - bletch

She sounds like the late Michael Jackson

I love Sia, but that picture below may be the most flattering photo of her I've ever seen (assuming it is her).  She's one of those girls who become more attractive once you realize how cool she is and how much fun you have with her.  Or at least, I assume this... base on very little real evidence.  Um.

Nevermind.

You're cracking me up man!
Sounds like a bad J-Lo impression. Yuck!
This song is interesting.  I do genuinely like a decent portion of it, but the "cash it in and throw it all away" lyric just grates on me every time it's sung, and sadly, ruins what is otherwise a pretty decent track.

Is it me or does this song go on way too long?

Pleeease—Zero 7, give us more music. You can do no wrong...

Don't worry; if you die I will make this comment your legacy by boosting it back to the top every time this crap song comes on.

Good call.  But Steely Dan is hip forevermore.

THANK you.   Geesh, this chick needs to be stopped.  Or at least restrained.
...no wait, yeah stopped.

I like how the opening simulates the sounds my tummy makes
I like the transparant production and harmonies. It's got a nice, bitter sweet feel to it.

Zero 7 are amazing live. Not my favorite song of theirs, but I'll take it.
I think this song has been growing on me a bit more over the past couple of months since my last post.
too whiny....gets a 3
I'm not sure why, but this song just sounded like something from the 80's to me. When I saw it was Zero 7, I did a doubletake. Not bad, but not really one of my favorites from them.
catching me at a good time...big thunderstorm/rain here in downtown dallas...working in the soft glow of the montior...office light out...watching the storm...nice Thursday afternoon!

I've tried hard to dislike this song, but just couldn't do it. Pass the crackers.
This is lovely, but I kinda agree about the guitar solo...not so much cheesy as lightweight.
oh...i like it...probably b/c i saw them perform this last month in DC. her voice kinda reminds me of Dee-Lite...
i like the way she says california. "cah-lee-foow-niaaa"

Exactly...where's my Prozac....arrghhh...
If you like this, you should check out some of Sia's stuff. She does a great song called "Taken for granted" , which has a large part of Prokofiev's (sp?!?) Romeo and Juliet in it. Quality.

The "cheesy inept guitar" sounds intentionally so to my ear. Might they be playing to the limited audience who can discern between ineptitude and "guitar solo" inserted as a gratuitous quotation?
Ditto on the Cheese Whiz.
I love Zero 7 ... this one is growing on me but still not near as good as Destiny, In The Waiting Line, Home ... those are awesome
there's something too bouncy about this for some reason
Thanks CTM, I didn't want to have to go through my whole life hearing this and not being able to think of anyone else but Pink ! coding_to_music wrote:

That's who is mentioned on their website www.zero7.co.uk. A sampling of the tracks on the album plays while you're on the website, which is pretty cool.

This is a great song, no doubt one of the best of the year, in my opinion. I love Zero 7.
It's definitely no "In The Waiting Line" but it could be a lot worse.
One of their not so brilliant songs if you ask me. Still very likable, but the rest I've heard from them here is a lot better.
Cash it in and throw it all away. Sweet. The only value your dollar has is the value you give a slip of paper with green (and sometimes peach) printing on it.

As for sounding like Beth...well not sure about that. I've got almost everything both these artists have made and I've seen both live many times; both give amazing live performances for very different reasons.
I just meant that the sound effect was borrowed from Beth, not that they or the song sounds like Beth... It's a good song, get's decent rating from me, but kinda disappointing. It's not up the the excellent level of their previous hits. But, their previous CD's had plenty of clunker songs that were not worthy of playing on RP. The hits from those CD's were, however, incredible... This CD is not sounding up to those incredible levels that they set for themselves previously. Still a good song, I'm just a disappointed whiner
Great to hear new stuff from Zero 7. Their first two albums were outstanding. This one is, I'm sure, going to be just as great. As for sounding like Beth...well not sure about that. I've got almost everything both these artists have made and I've seen both live many times; both give amazing live performances for very different reasons. Playing Zero 7 and Beth anytime gets my vote.
Hey -- mid-tempo demo music that made it to the final CD B side material... The drippity droppity ball effect is a ripoff from Beth Orton's Galaxy of Emptiness song from Trailer Park
