Better parted
I see people crying
Truth gets harder
There's no sense in lying
Help me find a way from this maze
I can't help myself

When I see tenderness before you left
That even breaking up was never meant
But only angels look before they tread

Better parted
I see people hiding
Speech gets started
There's no sense in writing
Help me find a way through this maze
I'm living,in another world with you
And I can't help myself
Did I see tenderness where you saw hell
Did I see angels in the hand I held
God only know's what kind of tale you'd tell

Same again today, apart from the ad break of a drippy Travis track.  Keep it up, I say.  Superb start to my Friday.  Thanks RP.

my son and I both LOVE music.  Our tastes don't always agree, but they surely do on this band.    Is there anyone better?
What a setlist. Straight from The Tragically Hip to Porcupine Tree to Talk Talk, just wow.
This sounded just as good live when I saw them in London back in the day!
Outstanding, my top 5 desert island albums. Everything about this album is godlike! Blew my brain when I first played at full volume on the day I bought it and still sounds as good to this day!
needs some else over 10

Such a shame! No longer with us.  Miss the venture that this group took me with every album release.

My aural sensory system becomes wide awake to see wonderful song 10🥰
This is the first tune I have seen here with NO hate in the comments… I mean I have loved TT and Mark for as long as I can remember but its nice here.
So much passion in his voice
Love so much the guitar sound and the organ. What a Wahouuuuuu song. RIP Mark

Thanks for sharing this...the tentacles of TT spread across the globe, but often so hard to find (in true Mark Hollis fashion!!!)
weirdly I remember this being my soundtrack to Christmas 1985. Played the album from a tape I bought (probably from Woolies) so release must have been earlier for UK. Never tire of the album. Gawd knows how many copies I've bought. Tape, CD.
Vocal is excellent.. But the song got a little premature. 9/10

Ten, ten and ten dĂ©finitively
Fabulous album and such a great band🙏
One of the greatest albums ever? Yet not even in the Rolling Stone top 500. A good reason to ignore mainstream ratings and just listen to RP.

Keep doing it right. That's the way it worked when I was a college DJ. You put together your playlist with care and then unleashed it.
BAM thats a 10 again

YES I just gave the song another 10
So splendid

Because no other station plays Porcupine Tree and then Talk Talk! (I give this 8 out of 10)
I just had to bump this from an 8 to a 10. Something to do with the lockdown zoom calls to old friends from the 70's, Elton's "I've Seen That Movie Too" played earlier and now this.

I'm not sure whether the music has to be perfect, but the memories a good tune can invoke has to be one of the most powerful forces on earth.

Well played Bill - my sanity thanks you
original  beauteous  and intellectual music and  beautiful voice
How I love this band...so many great memories!
A great song. Love his voice.
great track from a great band.
I could see them playing live in Marseille (Jardin du Prado) in 1987, well done i enjoy it.

I'm a distance runner and do a lot of my training while listening to music.  This is the sort of song that leads to PBs!

I love this song.  But IMHP the best track on  the album is I Don't Believe in You.

Thank you RP for playing Talk Talk!
This has a great 80s vibe to it. Very reminiscent of Tears for Fears.

Excellence!
this sound soooo organic somehow - so perfect.

the percussion with a such joyious organ (steve winwood) great guitars, a killer bassline, an emotional harmonica and an unique voice to top it off.

a showcase of how good music can be...
so nice to have the occasion to hit the Godlike button
Strange , the sound of this R.P flac version is of quite lower than the CD that I've listen to 500 times.
Bummer. I wish I had the URL for direct flac connect and play it with ASIO drivers on my DAC.

merci RP pour l'hommage le jour même du départ de mark hollis
Hard to bear the news, way too young, way too modest and pure. :<
Sad to hear this news this morning.

classic - I've listened to this through 3 decades and never tired of it.
Vocals don't get much more distinctive than Mark Hollis'. And in a very good way.
Such a great band, mostly lost to history by the masses.

I honestly don't remember hearing this one in so many years. What a great old song. Lotta' good stuff going on there for an "eighties song". Wasn't that one of those decades that we are told all the music sucked?
Happy New Year to you all from the Bristol Office!

First day back in work in 2018 - PSD straight here.  Good start ...
Always so gooooooooooood !!!!! Music, voice, orchestration {#Clap} {#Notworthy}
This never gets old - as fresh as it ever was. This band has been in my regular rotation for 32 years - wow!! {#Hearteyes}
I've always loved how there are many shifting rhythms in this amazing song. It really gets to rocking, with such ferocious drumming!

One of the few bands I can think of that showed real progression and growth from album to album. They started out as synth-pop proto-Duran Duran types, went to a more rock/pop position and then to blues/jazz rock/pop by this album. And then they headed off into relatively uncharted territory with their final two albums, more of a jazzy avant-garde freeform musical style. Sublime.

Little wonder their record company didn't know how to market them I guess.

From my purely selfish standpoint it's a crying shame that Mark Hollis retired from the music industry because I'd so love to hear what would have come next. And yes, I know he put out one solo album, which is fantastic, but that was 19 years ago :(

But a great musical legacy nonetheless.

Good luck, my friend.
It's 8:30 on a cool morning in England.  I'm in bed recovering from an operation and turned on Radio Paradise for the first time in weeks, to be greeted by this fabulous track.  I happened to click on the album cover by mistake and it brought up Coloradjohn's comment from November last year, which greatly amused me and made me feel good, as does the music.  I know some of Talk Talk's music but have never thought to investigate their albums - that is now a priority.  Great arrangement, terrific vocals, a fabulous reminder of the 80s at their best (not forgetting there were some dire moments, too!).  Congratulations to Talk Talk on producing truly excellent music, which willl last and last; and to Radio Paradise for playing it.....and for the Bird York track which followed Talk Talk and which is playing as I write this - totally new to me but another one to explore.  Medical operation or not......like Coloradojohn, I'm feeling good  :- )
My favourite band ever.  Amen.
From a great record that marked a great summer in my life; I had a balcony on Boulder Creek, a trippy Siamese cat named Syd, a nice library, an extensive music collection, a stereo in every room and a more sunny outlook on Love & Life! This helps me get back to that!
ooooh - Talk Talk twice in one day - good work!
That was my first thought as well.

I just found that a new good pal of mine knows Mark Hollis (the lead singer) very well.

I will be able to buy him a drink and thank him for the endless pleasure he and his band have given me over the years.

Hurrah!

Please buy him one from me, too.  We all owe him a debt of thanks for the wonderful music he has given us.
