If it's not the heat
Tell me what else it could be
It brings up such a force in you
It brings up such emotion in me.

All signs of life are moving slowly now

Once there was a fortress
Your skin became aflame.
And I burned down as a windowpane
Kept rattling my name

All signs of life are moving slowly now
All signs of life are moving so slow
Even God's supposed to smile at the Earth
Below

Little something to cool you off
Little something to cool you off

Once there was a river
Far from the waterfall
Still dark and half asleep
YOu were the cannonball.

All signs of life are moving slowly now
All signs of life are moving so slow
Even God's supposed to smile at the Earth
Below

All the signs of life are moving slowly now
All the signs of life are moving so slow
All signs of life are moving slowly now
All signs of life are moving so slow
All signs of life are moving slowly now
All signs of life are moving so slow

Biography by Jason Birchmeier
From the ashes of Morphine came Twinemen, a trio also boasting singer/songwriter Laurie Sargent. The vocalist began her career fronting the short-lived mid-'80s act Face to Face before spending a few years as a solo artist in the late '90s. She adds her experience to that of Billy Conway and Dana Colley, the former drummer and saxophonist, respectively, for Morphine, who disbanded in 1999 after the death of vocalist Mark Sandman. The three began performing in the Boston area, maintaining a residency at the Lizard Lounge, before teaming with Hi-N-Dry to release its self-titled debut album in 2002.

I saw them at the Lizard probably four years ago.  Had a great time.

The cover fits the sound.

Thanks for the background... I don't know why but i always had it in my head that Sandman was the vocalist and sax player... glad to hear that unique growling sax sound hasn't died along with him...
This is the sax player from Morphine. Awesome song, thanks Bill!
yeah I was thinking a bit of Morphine too, but this is good.
Did the DiVinyls and Morphine have a love child? If so this is the progeny....lovely dark, mysterious, and gutteral....nice!
While I don't feel the need to disparage this song or the artists, I still feel compelled to say, "eh".

The horns sound a lot like those from Morphine, no? Ah, well. Three cheers for new music!
Horns sound like Andy Mackay from Roxy Music...cool song.
I was really diggin' this and then looked up who it was/is...oh yeah......
...
I'm such a gentle pony, next day I'm riding in a rodeo!?!?! WHOA! May be some of the most clever suggestive lyrics I've ever heard.
Ack...a different vocalist doesn't save a horrible band. In fact, I think I liked Sandman better...
Cool, I was grumbling in the "Treat Her Right" section (Sandman's previous band) that this song had been sitting in my uploads for quite a while with good ratings. And here it is!
feels like Secret Machine's, "Daddy's In The Doldrums"

The Twinemen are Morphine minus the deceased Mark Sandman. Don't know the name of new female vocalist off the top of my head.
