She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman that I ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
And knockin' me out with those American thighs

Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come, but I was already there
'Cause the walls started shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it

And you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, you
Shook me all night long

Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine
Wanted no applause

Just another course
Made a meal out of me and come back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round

Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
But the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it

And you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, you
Shook me all night long
And knocked me out

I said, you
Shook me all night long
You had me shaking and you
Shook me all night long

Yeah, you shook me
When you took me

You really took me and you
Shook me all night long
Ah, you
Shook me all night long
Yeah yeah, you
Shook me all night long

You really got me and you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, you shook me
Yeah, you shook me all night long

No but god bless American thighs, only thing this atheist worships.
Freshman year of college, best girl at my side, she shook me all night long

Why?

For that headbanger-astrophysicist crossover appeal.

Some sort of earthquake in the night I suppose?
To me it's noise. To others, it's great Rock.
I just can't figure out what this song is about.
One of the best hard rock n roll songs ever.

The opening lyrics some of the best!!!!

And those power chords....right up ther with Petey T.
10 10 rockin 10
I know, let's play  "Stairway to heaven" some more too...
I was 15 when this hit. For those of us not inclined toward Punk, this blast of hard guitar rock was a great relief from our older siblings' disco records.
Forty Years and still kicks ass.

My brother was sick of me listening to his records, so he bought me one of my own for my 10th birthday and this was it.  While my tastes have changes since 1980, this album still has a special place in my heart.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
VIVA Radio Paradise!
Love you!

Randomly watched a Bon Scott interview on youtube recently.
Man, that guy  OOOOZED rock.
I read a little about him afterwards.
He wasn't credited for anything on Back In Black, but it's said he wrote 'You Shook Me All Night Long'.

I had heard some AC/DC prior to Scott's death in 1980, and when Back In Black began to get airplay, the most appreciation I could muster was, that the new singer was trying to sound like the guy that died (and was failing). I was 19 going to school in NYC and there were plenty of distractions, and the new AC/DC just didn't cut it, to put it nicely.
I thought they blew.
Over the years, the Bon Scott AC/DC  has knocked me out many times, but I still feel the same about the post Bon Scott stuff, which is ironic, as 'Back In Black' is one of the best selling albums in music history.
I'd probably feel different if my introduction to the band had been 'Back In Black'
Who knows.

Like Led Zep these guys were disdained in their time as simpletons trying to attract the masses.  Yeah they were, both of them.  What I love is that the masses of critics have chosen in retrospect to love them. As they should.  You can deny great music at first as "just rock," but in the long run if it was great rock it will last.
Gave it a nine, never tire of this song
So, yah, I could never hear this goddamn song again and die very happy!

One of the best hard rock albums.....ever!
Circumcised...never understood that...now i see
Now this is rock !!!
Three and a half minute slam dance....
To quote Frank, "Strictly commercial." Don't need it here.
The very definition of Rock and Roll!
Never been much of an AC/DC fan but I have to say this is a shit-kickingly good song!
One of the few rock bands who through decades of success never changed their style. Not even remotely.
Most of the Brian Johnson albums failed to sell impressively (for a band of this stature), but their biggest-selling album is their first with Johnson, and it's one of the biggest-selling albums of all time by anyone. Most of the Bon Scott era albums have sold healthily just about every year since 1980.

Malcolm Young - rock 'n' roll genius.
Angus Young - mad, manic virtuoso. Not as technically gifted as the very best, but he's pretty darned outstanding, and knows his way around a blues scale as good as any.
The unsung hero of the band - Phil Rudd. Massively under-rated drummer if you ask me. He's no Neil Peart with how many drums he hits per song, but he plays with just the right feel for AC/DC. He's not a rock drummer, he's a rock 'n' roll drummer. He can swing and boogie as well as bang and bash.
Proves lack of talent is no bar to rock and roll stardom

so the exact opposite of sex then, eh?
"She had the sightless eyes" - that would explain why she did it with Brian.

Kinda the seventh or eighth best track on the album though. Oh well.
Still gets me rockin  nothing wrong with that.
I was still in school when this album came out. Blew us all away!
I thought someone switched to classic rock radio
Best opening riff ever. Yes, ever.

"Knocking me out with those American thighs ..."

Always thought that was an amazing line, coming from Aussies.  I understand what they mean, though.
LOVE IT!!!!!
Part of my culture in the United States.
Rock and Roll - it will just not die a peaceful death!

Amen
I dunno.
Being shaken all night long sounds like it would be hard on the neck.

Rock 'n' Roll might not solve your problems, but it does let you dance all over them.

PETE TOWNSHEND
This is great! Once a month is perfect. 4 times a day made me hate this song.
Not this track...Bon Scott era we want.
and the hits just keep on coming!

how 'bout some Bon Scott era one of these days Bill?!!!

but any AC/DC is welcome!
No song screams Rock n Roll for me more than this one. Quintessential man!
Still some of the best opening lyrics  for a RnR song.

Yeah baby!
Every country bar in Wichita Kansas played this song to satisfy us rock n' roll fans.  It was the consolation prize.  (if you were lucky they'd throw in a Kiss song, too)
....this number always reminds me that alcoholic stupor puke drowning death {#Beat} IS A THING!
and the last song Bon Scott worked on with the band was "Have a Drink On Me''
.......and cannabis is still ILLEGAL in O HIGH o.......
This serves as notice that RP can and will rock...

Had me doing the air guitar in the office. Much to the 'amusement' of my boss. But I don't care. When I hear ACDC, my corporate maturity goes out the window.
Overplayed, but a classic.  Shows what a great groove band these guys could be.
This is a ROCKING 10 for me....cuz I immediately cranked the volume "knob" up to 11....Rock On!! And the entire album kicks ass, one of my all-time favorites in the Rock  & Roll genre -  Long Live RP!!
Why the 80s Sucked Musically: Exhibit A.

(no make that Exhibit B; Duran Duran claims 'A')

During High School, I hated AC/DC.  I thought it was too simple.  I was all about The Who, with a healthy dose of Led Zep thrown in.

Now that I'm older, I've come to appreciate AC/DC, and enjoy it.
This song is sort of like a Twinkie. You don't want to eat one very often, but when you do it IS good!

Keep it up Bill! Get the elitists panties in a bunch!!!!  {#Razz}

(Rock doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to rock.)

Riff

actually my favorite AC/DC tune

and I have always heard the same crap about AC/DC ~ 'easy to play blah blah blah'

yeah but even if you played it lol better than perfect you would still not be AC/DC ~
funny how no one says that trite crap about the early beatles ~ guess people know that would sound stupid

lol just sayin...
wow - Bob's in a mood today.....Rush AND AC/DC within an hour!!?
Switching to Pandora on this one Let sleeping dogs lie.
They had some decent songs, but this was their worst.  Switching to LRC.

Anyone else think that being the drummer for AC/DC must be a really boring job?

I agree with you about the Bon Scott era.

Phil Rudd is like Ringo —- sounds easy until you try to get it to sound like that.  There are people who will tell you that he's the best rock drummer playing.  For sure AC/DC was never the same without him.

For our friends in Australia...
And the live show is great.

Nasty, and from out of nowhere. Bill must be in a funky mood today. Where is that 11 crank it up level?
It must be Saturday Night in Paradise! Go Bill!!!

ROFL. Can I have a hit of your stuff?
a baton Rouge radio dj got a call from a guy asking for Rod Stewart singing Shook Me....he told the poor fellow he was way off and played this...this is a fine tune, but the guy who called was right...in the early stages of The New Yardbirds, Page got Rod Stewart to sing on some demo and that version of what became the Zep tune Shook Me was one of those on it, and a radioshow called Flashback played it on a N.O. station (I think Westwood One actually did the show)and the kid had heard it there most likely. That said.. Rock On
I cranked it up automatically for this one, as one should! Yay! Thunder from Down Under!

There's an awesome Hayseed Dixie version too (but one has had enough after the first chorus).
Thats pretty much every Hayseed Dixie song, but you're laughing the whole first chorus
One cannot doubt their commitment to the concept. When they sing "You shook me all night long", I cannot help but believe it.
Sorry, but as a Wedding Photographer, I have heard this too many times. I could do without it for obvious reasons.
i often think if i was a teenager in the 80's, i would be into AC/DC ... i'll pay homage ... but luckily my time fell between this and the mess (most) music's in right now

My 19 yrs old son has "discovered" AC/DC, thanks to his track coaches. They would play AC/DC before track meets. :) Which is OK, since I have Back in Black on cassette tape... Patti M.
I love this song. It would be hard for Radio Paradise to overplay this

Another overplayed rock song that has no place on Radio Paradise IMHO. If I want to hear this song, I can turn on my local classic rock FM station and hear it within the hour. If you're going to play AC/DC, I'd prefer to hear some early Bon Scott material.

You'll also hear Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many other RP mainstays during that hour.
If you're going to play AC/DC, I'd prefer to hear some early Bon Scott material.
I can't argue with the fact that the world, including RP, could use more Bon Scott.
Far from their best, but not bad.
All those wondering why this is being played in RP should check the definition of eclectic...
