I'm flying over the city
In a suit and tie
And don't my dog look pretty
But thats just a dog's life
The world outside is red
But my room is blue
And it will keep me safe
But I don't know from who

And sometimes I find what I need
Sometimes I don't find anything
But I'm waiting on that day to come
I'm waiting on my heart to sing
Now I'm speechless
I am tongue-tied
I am speechless
And it's all bottled up inside

Another drink
Would make me feel much worse
But maybe thats just what I need
To break this awful curse
And in my one room apartment
High above this town
I'm always trying to use
The things that will bring me down

And sometimes I find what I need
Sometimes I don't find anything
But I'm waiting on that day to come
I'm waiting on my heart to sing
Now I'm speechless
I am tongue-tied
I am speechless
And it's all bottled up inside

It's all bottled up inside
And I feel half alive
I can't open my eyes
I'm getting lost in this disguise

And sometimes I find what I need
Sometimes I don't find anything
But I'm waiting on that day to come
I'm waiting on my heart to sing
Now I'm speechless
I am tongue-tied
I am speechless
And it's all bottled up inside

I am speechless
I am tongue-tied
I am speechless
And it's all bottled up inside

When I saw the cover it went down a notch.
The "crappy bar in Sacramento called the Cattle Club" is legendary and anchored the vital late 20th C. underground scene ... you're not worthy.

I s'pose you had to be there to appreciate this one. Barely pushes average for me.
sounds like crowded house...

Also, Josh Clayton-Felt's posthumously released solo album, Spirit Touches Ground, has several very good mellow tracks on it, including some lyrics that are eerily prescient.

Clayton-Felt put out an album pre-humously, too, called Inarticulate Nature Boy. It's pretty good.

Like with many others, this brings back nice memories for me — saw them play at the Galleria in Boston, set up on a little barge in the middle of the lagoon at the mall. After they finished they had to get towed back to the shore to get off! Good times. This album is a bit uneven, but definitely my favorite of theirs; I liked the followup (Human Cannonball) a lot less. I saw Catherine Wheel at that place in the 90s.  They brought all this sound equipment like they were going to play an amphitheater instead of a room about the size of and with the aroma of a basement.  It was so loud everyone moved out to the porch or outside to hide from the noise.  I wonder if that place is still there...

I am astounded to hear this. Reminds me of simpler times when I was finishing college and "knew everything." To think that I actually believed that makes me... Thanks for pushing me down memory lane, Bill.
i'd rather hear "three strange days"
I'm not familiar with School of Fish, but that did absolutely nothing for me. No offense to the fans.

Nice! Excellent blast from the past. Former bandmate of mine drummed with them and these guys were very cool live. Especially Mike the guitar player - who went on to Wallflowers. This song always makes me want to hear Black Coffee in Bed!
Listening to this song I remember seeing School of Fish perform a free concert at San Jose State in the summer of 1991. I had just graduated from high school and was going to college later in the fall. Their drummer's mom had died so wasn't there. The rest of the band stayed up most of the night programming a drum machine for the show.
I miss these guys too... for me School of Fish was one of those emerging bands that helped confirm that indeed the 80's were over, thank the gods. Lost too early. shakitten wrote:
Wow! School of Fish! Used to rock out to 3 Strange Days when it came out. Good memories!
Shouldn't this be followed by A Flock Of Seagulls?

definitely suiting my current mood....
Finn Dog pondering? 8.
Thanks for the flashback...great memories with this album. I meet the guys in Austin, back in 1990.
This is such a fine track, and the whole CD is quite good. What a shame that this fellow died so young.

...of testicular cancer at the age of 32. Oof. Boy, I liked these guys. Pretty good here, anyway.

Same here. I have this CD and hadn't listened to it in ages until recently when I found it while packing for a move. I'm not sure it stands the test of time, but it sure brings back memories of some fun summer nights. *Edit: Wow, sorry to hear that news (below).
