Hey, Leah Leah
Hey, Leah Leah
Here I go
From the hut to the boat to the sea for Leah
Uh huh! I gotta go diving in the bay
Gotta get a lot of oysters
Find some pearls today
To make a pretty necklace for Leah
Leah

I gotta go deep and find the ones just right
I'll bet my Leah will be surprised tonight
I'll place the pearls around the only girl for me
Leah

But something's wrong
I cannot move around
My leg is caught
It's pulling me down
But I'll keep my hands shut tight for if they find me

They'll find the pearl for Leah
And now it's over
I'm awake at last
Oh, heartaches and memories from the past
It was just another dream about my lost love
About Leah
Hey, Leah Leah
Hey, Leah Leah
Here I go
Back to sleep and in my dreams
I'll be with Leah
Leah

haha, actually I thought it was Elvis for a minute...had to double check to be sure...

I was sure it was Elvis!  Once I saw it was Roy, I could hear it, but I really thought it was Elvis too.  Never noticed they sounded so alike before...

Oh, just roll with it and luxuriate in the operatic drama of Roy...

Well put. He had such range and coloration in his singing. Many of his songs that I've heard are mini-stories and drama. A lot of rock tends towards emotional detachment and Roy's the antidote to that.

I was lucky enough to see Roy O in concert here in Florida just a few years before he passed away. The theatre is called, Ruth Eckert Hall in St. Petersburg and was a small, very nice place.
I sat in the fourth row and was mesmerized by Roy's voice. He got a standing ovation for every song and he never missed a beat, never changed the way the songs were recorded like some musicians do live.
I feel blessed to have been at his concert and am always sad every time I hear one of his songs. Roy's life apparently was filled with heartache and loss and I think if you listen hard enough, you can hear it in some of his songs.

this my friends is one great comment, thank you gonetothedogs!
No, not one of my favorite songs either, but Roy Orbison is a unique, classic.  He will grow on you if you give him a chance.
If one needs substantiation, he wasn't part of the Wilbury's for nothing.
My high rating is for his body of work, not this song.

seems it was not played on RP for almost 7 years (i´m deducting cause last comment was on jan/2007)
now i understand why: sorry fans but it is horrible.
Was it what teens enjoy on 1960???

Wait...one simply MUST follow this up with the Girl from Ipanema
This song is proof that I won't give a song a 1 no matter what. Frankly, if this song isn't worthy of a 1, I'm sure I haven't heard one that is. Oh well, still I 2 just because "Sucko-Barfo" is so infantile.

I love Roy's music... although this isn't one of favorites it still rates an 8. IMHO one of the best singers ever!
umbrella drinks for everyone!!
hey he sounds just like Roy Orbison.......
Elvis often said there was one truly great white American singer -- guess who he was talking about... Roy Orbison. Elvis worshipped him, and you can easily hear why. Nobody did it better, and he had a mighty humble heart behind that incredible voice. He wrote quite a few songs other people built their careers on, too... Play more Roy now and then, Bill, go right ahead!
The sound track of my youth! I love this song... there is olny one Roy Orbison. The range of his voice is remarkable!
sounds like the vinyl is warped. Actually might sound better if it were. Horrid.
OMG!!!!! I haven't heard this since leaning on my mom's juke box in the bar we own'd waaaay back when. I knew it the minute I heard the first note. Smooooooth.
master crooner...gotta love it!
