Anyone else getting notes of Norwegian Wood?
If you don't get a song like this, try drumming to it or dancing to it
Then the trance sets in and those 2 minutes can feel like super tight 30 seconds
I had the pleasure of meeting Xavier Rudd at a folk festival. Really nice fellow. But experiencing his performance (he's a one-man band, did you know) under the right influence during a warm summer night was unforgettable. Some of his politically-bent songs are quite moving.
burping through a paper towel tube...

I really do like this , though. 8
You should really check out San Francisco local band Trance Mission.  Very much like this but even better.  Listen to  the"A Day Out of Time" album.
"Hey Mana, yo-yo-yo-yo, hey Mana yo-yo, yo, yo..."
the very beginning of this sounds like Kate Bush's "meteorological mix" of The Big Sky
Reminds me of the time we had in the rotorooter

Bloody hell, three Aussie songs in a row.Better go and skol a Fosters eh?
Isn't that opening borrowed from Jefferson Airplane's Crown of Creation?  Then the song transitions to Jingo by Santana.
I think of David Gulpilil during the first 10 seconds.
The didge of Stephen Kent with Trance Mission from San Fransisco would also match perfect in a flow like this. Not one Trance Mission song on RP!?
Love it.  My son is in Australia now and getting to experience this wonderful culture and people!
This got better and better
didgerid'ooh!
No thanks.  PSD to the rescue

miss you so much, Cynaera...

everybody in my homeless camp loves this song...

The fact that you describe "world music" as a genre means you're not really tolerant.  World music might have made sense as a label briefly in the 1980s, but it is utterly meaningless now.
Looks like someone has mastered the art of circular breathing......I like.
saw him at the Petaluma Music Festival, stood right in front of the speaker and let the sound fully envelope my body {#Group-hug}
amazing. sublime. no other words.
Love the didge - gonna jam tonight with some percussion buddies - WooHoo! {#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana_2}{#Bananasplit}

Nice! I really like this.
gotta love the didge!!! But I am Australian..... any of you doubters out there, please take a listen to a traditional Aboriginal song, I find this sound so incredibly haunting.  Especially when you consider they were only recorded last century. This sound is so much of the landscape, haunting and energising... IMHO
Not bad...but I found myself expecting it to 'go somewhere'.
Love global music with unusual and unique instruments — this didgeridoo and drum mix is awesome. Peter Gabriel, AfroCelt, Paul Simon - love the tribal!
oh man, when these artists are performing on a sidewalk, park or subway station with those didgerees and plastic pail-drums its totally cosmic!
Gets me throbbing along in a positive vibe, love it!!!
Cool sounds. Don't listen to the miserables.
God this is awful, really!
Please, no more !

Pretty pointless.

Love. Makes me want a jungle adventure!
BROWN NOISE!

The digeridoos caught my attention right away!

Are all digeridoos yidakis?

Xavier Rudd (2009) live in Geelong, Australia.
this guy is amazing live. Home sounds
the album cover is pretty cool.
Cool. Gotta love someone who can do this. Funky. I once went to a diger concert and it felt like my heart was vibrating.
I once asked a friend if she could play the didgeridoo -she replied "No, I didgeridon't"
TURNING THIS UP LOUD!

Pyro, you can play a didgeridoo? That's rather awesome... How'd you learn? Where'd you get one on which to practice? Sorry for all the questions, but I love exotic instruments and the sounds they create. (I'm stuck with guitar and piano. And occasionally, my own nose-whistle, although I'm trying to unlearn that one.)

I agree - Xavier Rudd is extremely talented! (And sorta cute - I like his macramaed ankle-bracelet.)

Listen closely and you can hear him humming a melody while he's playing.

Xavier Rudd comes from my local town. I was shocked to hear him on an great, worldwide radio station such as Radio Paradise.
Although his music isn't really to my taste, I can still appreciate it - because he's amazing at what he does.
At least it was short.
After that Gogol Bordello travesty, not sure I've ever dished out back-to-back 2s during my decade of listening to Radio Paradise. I know some people love the didj, but it's an automatic cringe from the Asheville jury. (Which is ironic if anyone knows about the Asheville culture).

Oh, I like this.  And I love the album name!
I appreciate didjeridoos. They tell me when to turn my volume off or switch to my iTunes playlist. Thanks annoying wooden sticks!

That song would be the best song ever if I had just taken enough LSD to send an elephant to the moon.  Minus chemical alteration...  interesting but not something that I'd seek out.
There is something so primal and cool about the music of a didgeridoo.  And circular breathing is always fascinating.

I just saw them play WOMadelaide. What a great rhythm section! They were so tight. They're called Izintaba and they're from South Africa.

You basically yell into the didg while playing. That is the basics of it. What Xavier does is the art!!!!

The didg is one of the most difficult instruments to play. You have to be able to breathe in and out at the same time. Try it.

Nice to hear something from this talented musician on RP! (Though I'd recommend other tracks - when he sings and there's less didgeridoo.)

Yes, this motion has a 2nd! Actually, this song is one I don't care much for because there aren't any lyrics...the Paul Simonesque vocals are worth hearing.
My son brought a dij back from Aust, he can do it, I sure cannot!

This is great! Not sure how many more tracks of the owld didgi I cud tike, thow!
After looking at posted photos of the Beatles with digeridoos, I couldn't help but hear "Norweigan Wood" in this tune.
Cool stuff:)

wow! such an amazing song!
I just saw him on Philip Island playing a New Year's festival. Hearing him live is something you gotta do if you have the chance.
favourite instrument, hands down
Nice didg....

Now someone speaks the truth!!! That is a cool piece, but he has many great songs as well as the didj jams.

Obiviously you've not seen one played live. It's visceral! Amazing!
Now that's something you don't hear every day. I like it! Not that I'd want to listen to that kind of stuff all day, but sounds good all mixed in with the other goodies.

Very Good RP! Nice add to the playlist. I've seen Xavier Rudd several times, simply amazing. All at altitude as well. You should see him blow the didgj. Good work!!!!!
