Is it me or is there a sequencer hard at work on this tune?

Yes, yes and seems to me that I like all what he does.

well geez, ya think?
WHAT A BUNCH OF ANNOYING CRAP IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY, SAY IT 1000 TIMES.

Then you're not really listening - or selectively listening because of your bias (but then, who doesn't?). And I say this not because you're knocking my favorite artist. I say this because you're making an objective claim about Sufjan's music based on your subjective feelings for it. He has plenty of songs with changing meter (but really, how much modern pop music changes meter during the song?), and certainly has a variety of songs within each album. Each album has a sound, but that's a characteristic of MANY albums, a characteristic that is often considered a good thing. p4jkafla wrote:
Does he have anything else to offer other than songs where the meter is exactly the same? After ten bars or so, you can figure out the whole song, and from that, the whole album. One song blends in to another. No contrast, no complexity. Nothing.

that was awesome. i had to watch that closely for a few minutes before i realized who it was, but the butterfly wings were quite colorful, and yet somehow strange, magical...but maybe the hdtv i was watching it on was just intoxicating me with color.
I liked the whimsy of that performance a lot. I was enchanted by the small smile that keyboardist Shara Worden had the entire time.
Who let Philip Glass into the studio with Sufjan?

So this would make a great church song.

Yes! Awesome!

They are very similar. The same hippy-dippy-trippiness. They were on Austin City Limits a while back, and all were wearing butterfly wings and a glassy-eyed, euphoric expression.

Is/was this Stevens character related in any way to The Polyfonic Spree (click here)? They sure Sound identical.

I actually like this, and I have not liked much else of his. The sing-song style of his vocals fits better here.

This makes me laugh now everytime I hear this song. Excellent.
I really dig this artist. Did not know about this CD. I like alternate Xmas Music. IF you have DirectTV or XM Xheck out the Special X-Mas channel
I forgot he had this one coming out... Nice as usual, Better because of the subject matter. Really biased SS supporter. 9.

Wired recently recommended this album. We've enjoyed it so far. It's a nice alternative to traditional holiday tunes.

Bill is still working out the kinks...soon the songs will stream straight out as they upload. Enjoy your 15 minutes. ploafmaster wrote:

Anyone else think Sufjan must have been the biggest band geek ever when he was young? I dig most of his stuff though.
Doesn't Sufjan make nice sounds!

Nice to have a Christmas album from a good musician. Not sure that this is the best track on it though!
Don't worry, I uploaded another one as well...hopefully it'll be added, but as we all know, there's no guarantee :-)

Picked this up over the weekend. Probably more Sufjan that you can take at any one sitting, but it's a pleasant enough Holiday listening experience. If you like his last couple of CD's its definitely worth getting.
