When this war is over
It will be a better day
When this war is over
It will be a better day
But it won't bring back
Those poor boys in their graves

Ain't no sense in no action
Killin' people all the time
Ain't no sense in no action
Killin' people all the time
When it happens on the street
We call that a crime

Man, he can get along
He just won't agree
Who's right and who's wrong
The matter you see

All of those killings
That ain't the way to go
Gotta get a plan
And change our ways you know

When this war is over
It will be a better day
When this war is over
It will be a better day
But it won't bring back
Those poor boys in their graves

When this war is over
It will be a better day
When this war is over
It will be a better day
But it won't bring back
Those poor boys in their graves

Just thought I heard J.J. Cale in earlier song by Deuse
Eric Clapton is the most bland skilled musician.
Unthought known !  Sound truck thanks to Merlin's word on fortunate shadows.

Bill, did you just say something about "the road to Escondido?"

Have to agree, sadly.

I wasn't in favor of the war and now that we're there, I'm more convinced that we shouldn't have gone. But we ARE there, we can't just say "oops, sorry, our mistake" and leave. But no, I'm talking about this song. EC has used up his edge entirely. I'm sure he's a happier man and more at piece after but his music was better before he got clean and sober. And I'm clean and sober.

Let's stick to music commentary and save the phony philosophy BS for another website.
Hoping for more, but it was a snore.
When this song is over there will be another song!
Maybe this song should be called "IF this war ever ends!"

Actually, I have thought it was a basic rewrite of the lyrics to J.J. Cale's "Call Me the Breeze" that Skynyrd covered.

I'd agree if you'd have transposed the words "marginal" and "accurate" in your two clauses.
Wow, so passionate! (sarcasm warning)

Sadly, I agree. I was so excited about this album when it came out, and I tried to love it, really I did. Lackluster. I do appreciate the message in this song, however.

I had no idea such a thing was in the works. I only caught the Cream reuion on DVD and thought it understated and elegant. I applaud them for making music as well-worn workhorses and not trying to duplicate the Heyday. I caught the Traffic reunion live on two occaisions...once headlining and once opening for the Grateful Dead. I loved that. It was terrific seeing Winwood making "uncommercial" music again. If the Blind Faith reunion is as successful, musically as either of these previous reunion, it will be great.

A close friend and former Senator once remarked to me, "You can't save the world until you save your seat." Seems to fit exactly what you describe here. (For the record: he and I are still friends, but agree to disagree on this point.) Quite likeable tune with a significant message.
I will go see Blind Faith....
nice

Agree. Another instance where the whole is less than the sum of the parts. Too bad. Seems Clapton is trying to duet with everyone he ever collaborated with in the past: Cream , Mayall, JJ. What's next, Blind Faith?

I still think the old 69s adage, "Make love, not war" applies. Why, even where I work, there are people being nasty to each other. What is indeed, so funny 'bout Peace, Love, and Understanding?

The easiest way is to not start the wars in the first place. Then you don't need to end them.

Yes, one didn't hear that in 70s anti-war songs.

I am tired of the smugness of the politically correct. People who make money from being politically correct are especially heinous. Democrats are in power now and still can't stop the war. It is easy to say "peace" but not so easy to actually make it.

Hey, it's fashionable to be anti-war. Who actually likes war anyway? The devil is in the details, however. How do we stop wars when we have imperfect humans who constantly have to find and fight about differences among us instead of celebrating commonalities? It is easy to blame this war on George Bush and Dick Cheney. It is harder to examine the real causes of war and strife. So, there you go. Make an antiwar song, rake in the $$. They feel good cashing your checks, and you feel good giving them.
That's Derek Trucks on the lead slide guitar.

Is it redundant to JJ's wallet? It may be to EC's, but that's not for me to judge. I'm enjoying the tunes alright. ladybinnath wrote:

Very nice! Two of the most influental guitarmen of our time finally making a record together.
Two icons, I'm dancing on first listen!
