Are pan pipes the South American equivalent of the bag pipes?

It is very simple indeed. If youe countries were the poor ones there would be jazz in every corner of Lima, Buenos Aires or La Paz, and our racists would associate it with poornes and find it as awfull as some people here finds this soundtrack.
LOL.

I like this. I'd actually purchase it if it was available online... which it isn't. d'oh!
something here reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel

Make it three in agreement. But it's on bad meth.
I guess we were just passing by some flea market or little street festival or something. Gotta love that Incan Pan Flute. Update: Strangely enough, RP is the first hit when searching for Carlos Rene Crespo. WTF? Maybe Bill picked this up at his local arts and crafts fair, along with one of those wooden bowls. There are 1000 of these dudes running around out there.

What was that? Why? Who is monitoring the music selection right now? Anyone there? How did that slip in? Breech! There's been a breech in the system!
That is funny...
it's the Fast Show all over again* *UK comedy programme reference

My theory is, that these musicians are spys from outter space who are monitoring human activities. If you buy a CD or listen to there songs for more than 5 minutes your brain will be controlled...

Well, i haven't thought i will hear something like this in RP, but then that's exactly why i listen to RP... More breeches seem to be lacking for some who think 'selectively'
Damn, I thought I'd found a good hiding spot but these guys can find me anywhere...

yep.
Oh please, this brings back the few bad memories of otherwise very pleasant trips to foreign cities where ever.

simply awful for RP. I can hear this on any street corner in any tourist district in warm weather. No need to play it here.
Oh no....

or the stuff those Chicago guys play when in Guate..
Ahhhhh yes, reminds me of my future trip to Peru. Someday.
Worked with a (Peruvian) pan pipe player in Alice Springs (check your atlas) of all places and had a ball. Lovely man and a fine family; he made his own instruments and had a fine sense of the groove and of his people and of this short life.
There's something about Andean music that really gets to me, in a good way. I remember the first time I heard it: a band was playing on the Pearl St. Mall in Boulder, CO. I bought their tape immediately -- I had to hear that sound over and over. It still hasn't worn off. Even though I've heard lots of Andean bands since then, the sounds still does it for me.

Thirded!
Hmmm... I just posted, an hour ago, my pre-Journal to Peru over in the Journals section... and now this comes on. Synchronicity abounds! Thanks Bill!
Great music, thank you RP !

Welcome to Radio Paradise where you will hear music from around the world. Open up your mind and let the world come in.
I was sure this was 3 Mustaphas 3 for some reason. Nice music.

I did buy one of their CD's. For street musicians, not bad.

Nice to hear some Andean music here. Reminds me of listening to Peruvian radio stations on a shortwave radio many years ago.
