AGREE!!
More Mississippi John Hurt, please.
Ideal blues to kick back to on the front porch of an old wooden house on a sweltering summer's evening, with the cicadas in full chorus, cold 'sierra nevadas' flowing and some good company...no not thinking of London, but reminiscing bout small town North Carolina

Who'd a' thunk a skinny ol' white Englishman could be so funky?{#Wink}
I love his voice his guitar of course—-i'm giving it a 9.
Yay! Loving that, thanks!
( ~ smiling ~ ) There are few things that cheer up a lower-Mississippi Delta Louisianian's spirit than some Mississippi John Hurt in the morning. Yours from the Irish Channel of New Orleans.
Now I know where Keb' Mo got his style.

And a fine performance in "The Elephant Man" too.
read his bio on the wiki link..
rediscovered 3 years before his death.
he sounds great...
Love Mississippi John! This is one of his best. I think this album also has an incredible version of 'Nearer My God to Thee' in which MJH never actually mentions God - just sings: "Nearer my --- to thee" with a wonderful bluesy chord (D7, I think) filling the gap!
Whoever uploaded this should upload all the other 40+ songs on this CD!
This is the real deal!
Wow, Doyle Dukes then MJH.... Send me south so I can relax on a front porch and get more of this! Will bring my own hammock...Thanks, Bill!
just wonderful. I have his recording of a song called "Frankie" on a blues collection. easy voice to listen to.
Outstanding!
Sweet. In every sense of the word. I used to listen to these to learn how to finger pick the guitar. His playing is so clear and crisp, it's not so hard to pick up the notes from the record.
Woo!
I'm gonna throw in a request for Shortnin' Bread I just love MJH's little dittys
every one of my sixth graders would be up and dancing to this tune!
