Reminds me of Noir Desir's "Le Vent Nous Portera". Both French, both contain some of the same instruments (most notably, the clarinet)...of course, this song is a little more upbeat, but both are quite nice.

I can't deny one should, but actually there does appear to be an effect of prosody, language rhythm (i.e. of the composer's native language) on musical rhythm - it's been researched and published. Compare for example the rhythmic structures of 'Frere Jacques' and 'London Bridge Is Falling Down'. I don't have a source at hand, but it should be quite easy to find. The French are more than proud of the beauty of the French language. The language itself is probably given a much priority than in English-speaking cultures. I should upload Harmonium's Je dis bonjour à la vie recorded in Québec in the mid-1970s and some SLAM music by Grand Corps Malade which is French but with a rather interesting socio-cultural twist. I find this particular song by Ruiz rather irritating but not too irksome.
