Saw them tour together after this album came out, played at Symphony Hall here in Boston. It was a magical evening as I’ve admired both artists for years.

This is amazing on so many levels... the sound contrast between the piano and the banjo, the syncopated timing of the notes, and the blend of bluegrass and jazz styles. Thanks for turning me on to it Bill and Rebecca.

Saw them together in Nashville 3-22-13. A performance that was as good as it gets.
This is seriously cool, and follows on beautifully from Duke Ellington's Caravan.
One of the things that has drawn me to this station is the range of musical influences that are drawn together in a thoughtful manner. This is a first-rate example of a couple of virtuosi working together to bridge genres.They actually have much in common in their influences. I understand that the banjo is not an instrument that is to everyone's taste but please let's have more understanding of musicality.

One of my professors had been a lawyer in Cuba. He was assigned to these kangaroo courts as a public defender. He told us about the process once: he'd meet his "client" for the first time on the day of the trial. The trial lasted ten or fifteen minutes, and would invariably end in a guilty verdict and sentence of death. The "client" and his lawyer would go through a door to the court of appeals, where the lawyer got a whopping five minutes to argue for the man's life. The trial court judgment would be affirmed almost immediately, sometimes even before the five minutes was up. At that point, the guards took the "client" out another door, to the open-air courtyard where the firing squad awaited. Some of my professor's "clients" were former Batista regime officials, some were just poor schmucks who'd gotten on the wrong side of Guevera or someone else in the "People's Revolution" who had some pull.
My professor had been a law-school classmate of Fidel and a supporter of the revolution, but he was so sickened by this "process" that he got his family off the island at first opportunity and never looked back. That was amazing! I saw them at the North Sea Jazz festival and talked to Bela afterwards. He is such a serious and modest guy! Just proud to be playing with these legends. The music was awesome, technically brilliant, but beautiful as well
This is just as much jazz as it is bluegrass. And much better than whatever "erkkk" is supposed to mean.

Bela sounds a little lost on some of the cuts. Chick's flow

All throughout his career, Bela has attributed a lot of his musical style/inspiration to Chick Corea. How neat that he finally got to collaborate with his musical hero.
