Best description ever, friend.
interesting ….  It improves the Cold Play song but does nothing for Buena Vista Social Club.   I guess that’s a low bar
Like putting colored sprinkles on a turd.
This is a terrible song, it is the 3rd or 4th in the past 15 minutes in a row I have had to skip. I like Buena Vista Social Club - been a fan since the 90s, but not every track is a hit. That whole high pitched whiny sound? Please avoid it, thank you.
I love this cd! but I do not love Coldplay...
I DO however also LOVE this version!
I do not know what this says about the vocals, nor about the original accompagnement...
but I would recommend to listen to the rest of the tracks of this album.
Somehow it feels like the result of the mix is better than just the separate components added up for a lot of the tracks
Hmmmmmmmmm. Jury is out.

I Agree!  I am a big fan of Buena Vista Social Club!  Thanx RP!
I have never been a Coldplay fan, but this song kicks ass!  GREAT TUNE!!  Thanx RP!
Me again... If I could samba I would!!!
This deserves at least a positive comment than the stale 8 year old ones. Look at the other collaborators... looks like fun stuff!!!
This sounds like the work of Microsoft Songsmith (google it).

See this youtube video to understand.

Perfect!
Not an improvement. Perhaps if they had someone who can sing...I can see the potential. {#Ask}
I don't think these two groups should have merged for this... separately they're both much better.  I'm not a huge Coldplay fan at all, but I like the original version of this song a lot better.

Never play this again.

Unfortunately this version puts more emphasis on Chris Martin's voice, not a good thing!{#Stop}

nice to see some people can just get along
Whenever I listen to classical music for a while then come back to something like this, I realize the difference between the two is you already know what this is about after ten seconds or so. There's nothing more to gain from it.

Interesting analogy.  Heavy on the 30 weight, Mom!

simply awful

I was just thinking this was a nice remix, then the horns came in a killed it.

I like it.
The vocal sounds really thin without all the backing keyboards.

When they came out with "Yellow," they were still unsigned to a major label, and it was a new sound — no one at the time (summer of 2000) sounded like Chris Martin, and it was kind of raw and naked compared to all the other overproduced dreck that was around at the time.  Since then, people have gotten quite used to their sound, in part because so many of their songs sound alike.  The latest album was supposed to have featured Martin discovering (i.e., finally using) his baritone.  Personally, I think their songwriting is a bit overrated, though I thought "Fix You" was a marvelous paean to his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, in the wake of her father's death.

Hahaha! I was thinking the same! :D
a very weak song by itself...then add samba? Maybe if I ate Pop-Rocks and drank Coke, I might understand this.

BV rythme section makes this what it is, whatever that is..............

I think , the music of coldplay is the music of this generation. But a lot of their style touches me , and so I like this modern english bands like coldplay , keane, franz ferdinand and so on. Not everything, but i like it:

This is NOT working......

Thou shalt not joke about Radiohead!  Seems a lot of their fans are hyper sensitive about any association to another band that may be similarly OVER-RATED.  <ducks>{#Shifty}

this collaboration doesn't work too well for me.  I like both CP and BVSC a lot, but his voice is not right for the groove I think.  But the groove kind of works for the song IMO.

I was going to post something like 'BVSC is so great, they can even make Coldplay sound cool'...

I'd listen to Buena Vista Social Club sing a phone book. Coldplay, not so much.

Radiohead this isn't, but worth a happy fox-trot with my lover.

I don't know about that.  I rather enjoy a version of "Ooops I did it Again" that I have by Richard Thompson.  (Not the one of his album, but an in studio thing he did on NPRs Fresh Air.)  Anyway, I'd call this a modest improvement on an otherwise mediocre song making it slightly better then mediocre.

Except it's not actually Thom Yorke; it's Chris Martin.  Coldplay, not Radiohead.  I definitely hear the resemblance, though.

I like this album, especially when I want to play something different for a large group of friends that have varying tastes in music.  I get pretty tired of the same old Coldplay songs, this one is in improvement in my book and the Jack Johnson re-vamp of "Better Together" is fantastic.

I like the original and I like this version. But the funny thing is, the weakest part of this version is Chris Martin, I think he sounds awful...lol...and I like Coldplay. {#Rolleyes}
if 'n you ain't gots nuffin nice to say then STFU.
trash talkin' is my job and you sorry lot are impacting my livelihood

My one gripe with RP: BillG plays too many shoddy covers of excellent songs, like this one. 3.
I like this song by Coldplay.
I like the original and I like this treatment of it.
Swaying back and forth in my chair.  :-)

unless you actually like the different version... could deal with a little less vox in the mix, but it's a good treatment IMO{#Daisy}
Here's the weird thing: I don't normally care for either Coldplay or Buena Vista Social Club, but I really like this a lot. Go figure.
I LOVE this!!  What a cool revamp.

RP rules!
Coldplay on their own is about as lame as Oasis, but BVSC adds a great element to this tune.
BVSC saves this from being just another Coldplay/overplay POC.  horns = yes.

Amazing version, Buena Vista Social Club is gorgeous

Liking this version. A little more upbeat and lighthearted than the original.

Excellent transition between Trail of Dead - Russia to this.
I like both versions, but this one just a little better.
fantastic version of this song!
Loosen up people...have fun with it.

I don't get the low rating on this one. Sure, the vocals are a little sketchy in places, but the band is HOT. Nice tune. 8

I do like genre mixing, but I still think the original is better.    {#Think}

I was so sick of the overplayed original version of this song....and then months later, I heard this version on Radio Paradise and couldn't believe it worked so well!  Agreed with other listeners, Coldplay should team up with Buena Vista Social Club more often!  {#Roflol}

Actually, I found Clocks to be rather boring and repetitive. This version actually makes it listenable.
not quite right...not quite right
Paradigm busting fusion of genres.

WoAh !

Like as bad dream.
This is way right.

What a pleasant little ditty.

I'm starting to find this boring and simple...sorry.
I said it before and I'll say it again. I love this song!!!!! I really, really REALLY hate Coldplay and this is SO much of an improvement on the song. From now on, Coldplay should only have a latin beat! Really improves the song. This song never hesitates to put a smile on my face! Love it!!!

{#Dancingbanana}{#Bananapiano} {#Roflol}

thought so too at first! ha ha its an almost impossible mix but quite an extraordinary accomplishment. even though i cant get rid of the feeling im listening to 2 stations at the same time!

'tis cool...any time a group is willing to mix it up indicates an ability to become more than a formulaic revenue generator. The longer they are around the more I find myself appreciating them.
What a great set we're in the middle of!  Too cool!{#Sunny}
The original is way better, IMO.
wicked cool~!
Dang, I love the cuban-type music... But this is... odd. It's OK in a "wow-look-what-happens-when-I-smush-these-things-together" kind of way, but not something I'd chose to hear over either song on it's own.

EDIT:  Oh yeah, what fredriley said

Salsa and Coldplay. Hmm. An interesting mix, shouldn't work, sort of does, but to be honest I'd rather have the salsa without the Coldplay as IMO the whole is less than the sum of its parts. Worth a try, though. 7 from the Nottingham jury. Say, any chance of a bit more salsa? I would humbly suggest the wonderful celtic-salsa mashup of Salsa Celtica (click here) which works a treat, and would please both fans of Cuban music and modern Scottish music. Ah go on, g'wan, g'wan, g'wan...G'WAN! :)
i like this "congo" version better.........cp is still lame though.
Now if they would've just left Coldplay out of the mix... They ruin everything, even BVSC. Brings to mind a cruise ship band with a bunch of pot-bellied old guys and their babes out on the dance floor. Rock on!

loving this!
Thanks to RP, now I can't get "Humo en el AaaaQuaaaa" out of my head when I hear this song
Never thought I'd hear Richard Cheese on RP.
huh. okay. but i love the song!

This may be an interesting take on Clocks, but I'd advise you to stay clear of the rest of this album. Most of the mashups (or remixes, or whatever this calls itself) just don't work and are less than the sum of their parts. Some are so bad that they almost hurt physically.

This is such a happy, pleasant, bouncy song! And the horns are beautiful.
The cuban music is a realy good music
Just goes to show you can put lipstick on a pig! Never had much use for Coldplay, but I like the twist BVSC puts on this one.
My, how interesting. This certainly transforms this song from a melancholy doodle to something that shows just how great the BVSC really is. And in that vein, I'd like to talk about Calexico. I love Calexico, but I listened to a track of a concert they did in (Sweden?) with a really great Mariachi band behind them. Similar to this, the 'back-up' blew away the front--you could hear it in how the audience responded. Just interesting to put this kind of juxtaposition in perspective
I like the original better, but this one is pretty funky. I didn't know that BVSC was involved on it...they're great, I think. MERENGUE!! CHA-CHA!! EVERYBODY DANCE!!

Ibrahim Ferrer, somehow makes this version enjoyable, unlike much of Coldplay's monotonous library. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
