Here's the point: July 18, 2007 Four years into the conflict in Darfur, conditions continue to deteriorate for the civilian population of this war-torn region. To date, as many as 400,000 civilians have been killed. Up to 2.5 million Darfuris have been forced to leave their homes and now live in camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) throughout Darfur, or in refugee camps in neighboring Chad and the Central African Republic. While significant political developments have taken place over the past months, the daily agony of Darfuri civilians continues unabated.
Um, in contrast to my previous comment, this is bad - hilariously so. Actually, it's so bad I'd like it to stay in rotation, popping up every now and then. Does that make any sense?
My first 1, sad day indeed....

You people who're still defending Beatles'/Lennon songs as only being good if they're played by the Beatles/Lennon? It doesn't actually say much for their songwriting, does it? Get over yourselves. I'd much rather hear these musty tracks dusted off by someone who might have a fresh idea (okay not Aerosmith ).
It's not that I object to someone else covering a Lennon song. Just so badly!
Jeez, people. Lighten up. I'm a huge fan of the original versions, too, but I think this CD has a lot of fun songs. You know, songs? If you get over your tendency to call them "versions", "interpretations", maybe even "blasphemies", they're all just good songs.
Cover the tune if you can do it justice or perhaps as an "Homage", but that Aerosmith arrangement is just plain excrutiating.

Good call. The U2 version of Instant Karma wasn't that bad!
I'm giving this a two ONLY because I agree with the sentiment expressed in the lyrics. Otherwise it would be solid 1.

Almost?
c'mon folks. didn't you love that pseudo-rap section?
"are we are sayring"?
More like "Instant Nausea"...
John Lennon would have turned 67 in 2007. If alive, he could well be at the forefront of bringing peace to Darfur, where more than half a million have died from violence and disease during four years of rebel discord. So to create awareness of the ongoing conflict, Amnesty International (with permission from Yoko Ono) has mined Lennon's solo work and rounded up nearly two dozen current artists to reinterpret the music, which spans the ex-Beatle's entire post-band catalog (plus a pair from while the Fab Four were still in business). As with any attempt to cover Beatles-related music, results are hit and miss, with kudos going to Snow Patrol and the Postal Service for capturing the starkness of "Isolation" and "Grow Old with Me," respectively, Mexican rock band Jaguares for uncovering the fear and fury in "Gimme Some Truth," and (surprise!) Christina Aguilera for nailing the complex composition and mood of "Mother." Other highlights include Jackson Browne's piano-led "Oh My Love," Green Day's louder straight take on "Working Class Hero," and the Black Eyed Peas turning "Power to the People" into a gospelly protest. Will resurrecting 30-to-40-year-old messages of peace and love be enough to help end the brutalities in Darfur? That remains to be seen. But selecting John Lennon as the author of those messages will make people listen and, with this collection, may keep them listening. --Scott Holter

It appears they're trying to deter people from donating.

RP might need a "Skip Track" button...
DEFINATELY applicable here
I swear to god they are saying,"Aw ree are saying, is give me some chance."
Sounds like making fun out of Lennon's songs.
All am I saying... is give it a rest.
Terrible. Almost sacrilegious.
I don't often say this, but this blows. I'd like to hear it without Aerosmith.
Possibly the worst tune I have ever heard on RP I mean Aerosmith? Come on!

I agree, "Instant Karma" is sounding a whole lot better now.......... I'm off to lunch
This CD needs to be burned. I hope they raised a bunch of money before anyone really listened.
yuck.
Ugh. I'd rather hear Lennon. Why choose imitation bacon bits when you can have the real thing?
ugh. amusing as steven tyler is on this track, i still dont like it.
RP might need a "Skip Track" button...
one wafer thin mint
just when you thought it was safe to come outside. wtf is this. Bill! make it stop!
I would suggest packing this whole CD away in a dusty old box somewhere. This sucks,... badly!
See, I'd like to lambast this one as well, but it's a benefit for Amnesty International, so we're just plain screwed.

At least this one is different.
I bought this. There are some fantastic versions and some less fantastic, but still good. One too many versions of Imagine. Ben Harper's version of Beautiful Boy made me cry.
This is much better than "Instant Karma". Go ahead and play the whole record!
Again? RE: all comments of previous song....only this is worse.
