I was trying to find my way home
But all I heard was a drone
Bouncing off a satellite
Crushing the last long American night

This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?

I was staring at a dead dial
Just another lost number in a file
Dancing down a dark hole
Just searching for a world with some soul

This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
Is there anybody alive out there?

I just want to hear some rhythm
I just want to hear some rhythm
I just want to hear some rhythm
I just want to hear some rhythm

I want a thousand guitars
I want pounding drums
I want a million different voices speaking in tongues

This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
Is there anybody alive out there?

I was driving through the misty rain
And just searching for a mystery train
Bopping through the wild blue
Trying to make a connection with you

This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
This is radio nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
Is there anybody alive out there?

I just want to feel some rhythm
I just want to feel some rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm

I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm
I just want to feel your rhythm

this song - Springsteen->Eddie Vedder->Neil Young

I should look on youtube if there are any performances together - surely vedder and springsteen exists
I was literally reading in the news that Springsteen’s mom just passed.

Coincidence, or is Bill reading the same feeds as I am at the same time?

RIP Adele
Can't get enough of Bruce!

Sir Bill-any way you can fire up Backstreets for this old fart? Been on RP for about 7 years now (outta So. Cal) and sadly (for me) haven't heard it here.

Not life of death.......but.............thx-
A song about the radio waves that Radio Paradise has thankfully replaced for me.

Same and boring must have something to do with yourself. This man has written some incredible songs during a long career. Close the door on your way out because you're the only one who's going away!
it's just occurred to me that bruce in the photo on this cover looks exactly like matthew mcconaghey. wow.

Saw this young man in Portland a couple weeks ago-got tix for the Pit.

No way he's 74- he's 44 as he bounces around the stage.

Can't wait to see him again in LA in Dec.

Da Boss!!
Radio nowhere? Hey Bruce, ever heard of Radio Paradise? It will soothe your soul Boss.

Tommy Tutone

And here we are, February 1, 2023 and Bruce hits the road AGAIN at 74 freekin years old! Go get 'em Bruce, see you in Austin Tx Feb 16th!

I just realised why I rate so many songs as outstanding (8): the next rating down is 'quite likeable' (7). Springsteen's Radio Nowhere is a good example - it is better than quite likeable but for Springsteen, it's not outstanding. Could there perhaps be a rating in between such as 'excellent / really good'? I think that we all understand the meanings of  'quite likeable' (sort of OK, not offensive) and 'outstanding' (speaks for itself) but what about tracks that are better than quite likeable but not outstanding? BTW I have been listening to RP for a couple of years now and there are very very few artists / tracks that I would fast-forward from. I have discovered many new (to me) artists) and been reminded of many that I once knew but had almost forgotten. Thanks RP.

I just had the same experience while increasing Springsteen's "Radio Nowhere" from 7 to 8.  I would suggest changing Most Excellent to Great to even out the big jump.

Maybe follow up with Petty's Last DJ?

agree with below, Radio Paradise - Everywhere
Bruce Springsteen was trying, bouncing, crushing, staring, dancing, searching, driving, bopping...  And back in 2007, still pronouncin' the "g" at the end of each word.

Very Pearl Jam but still good :)
The first Springsteen album I listened to! I knew about Born in the USA and Born to Run, obviously but never paid that much attention to it, they were just FM hits to me.
Then someone gave me this record as a gift and I was blown away!
Any track from this album brings me back to my room when I was 17. Love it!

A 10/10. Reminds me of Roadrunner (Jonathan Richman song)  Both songs are brilliant, and the fact that RP can play them both without the satellite drone is a further reason to contribute some cash to the new radio radio. (Go Elvis!)

Growing up in NJ, I was subjected to way too much Bruce, and became a bit of an anti-fan.

I'm kinda digging this song...
Nothing like an E Street concert! Great performer. His one man show in NY was amazing. Glad to have seen Bruce all these years with his great music!

Nine months later and it still applies!  At least now we have leadership we can have some respect for and confidence in!

WOW an out and out Rocker from Springsteen...NICE!
'kin 'ell! A Springsteen song which I like - a first, perhaps because it's got such a rocky insistent riff, and doesn't sound anything like other Springsteen numbers. 7 from the gobsmacked Nottingham jury.

Well, I, for one, am inspired. Everything but RP is Radio Nowhere, as far as I can tell. For me, this pales incredibly to the previous track by LEON RUSSELL!
Wow. As this started I thought, 'hey a rocker who sounds like Springsteen', but low and behold it's him! Bruce, for me has always been one of those admittedly influential artists that I never really cared for very much. This though is a very nice rockin' diversion. This just might be the first Springsteen album I buy.

I have to criticize your criticism. Don't assail the new album and then say, "I will not be buying this album". Huh? If you haven't bought it and listened to it thoroughly then you're not qualified to bash it. You can say you don't get a good first impression or whatever, but you can't be as harsh as you're being when you admittedly are only half-informed at best. You say you're a huge Bruce fan. If that were true you'd buy the album and try to like it - something you obviously aren't doing now. Isn't the chance of a few really good songs from one of your favorite artists worth the risk of wasting 15 bucks? It always has been for me. But maybe that's just me.
You're right. I am only partially informed. Unfortunately I don't have a paycheck right now so buying substandard Bruce albums (compared to the old ones) is not a huge priority. I did buy Devils and Dust and was not terribly happy with that. I have every regular (not all live/compilation) album Bruce has made thus far. Sorry...give me Thunder Road, Spirit in the Night, or New York City Serenade any day over this song. However, you may notice I've updated my rating and posted a new comment. But this song will never be a 9 or a 10 for me.
I originally gave this a 4 but I had to up it to a six b/c I actually like it when it comes on now. I had commented earlier that I think it is marginal Bruce and that opinion has not changed. But the man has a formula now and it works pretty well. I guess I mean to say it's growing on me...
First time I heard it felt like the millionth time. I was over it before it was over. respect to Bruce, though.
I knew it. All the old-school fans hate his new album. But I think it's great. Hate bombastic Bruce, but I dig new Bruce.
Oh man, it's like he's regressed to a teeny-bopper. This is appalling.

Outstanding. Pretty much nails the current state of commercial radio.
Agreeable, listenable. Not much depth or dimension that one would expect from someone with so much experience, considering his past lyrical accomplishments.
Good sense of humor. I'm impressed. OK, you can stay. cobalt789 wrote:

Wow. I thought Springsteen was done. This is a great song. Wonder what the rest of the album is like.

Yeah, it is. If you get what the song is about the repetition (something that's kinda common in blues/pop/rock music, you may have noticed) is perfectly relevant. I've had the opposite reaction and the song has grown on me more and more. It's hardly the strongest song of his career (or even the album) but uninspired? Hardly.

I knew it. The old-school Bruce fans are hating his new album, which I think is great. Ha!
I can't believe that I'm the only person that hears "867-5309 (Jenny)" tucked away here. EDIT: I really should learn to scroll down. Someone else hears it too. Hmmmm.... Did The Boss sample a Tommy Tutone song? Say it ain't so!
To follow Paco Di Lucia with Bruce Springsteen is an absolute sin.
Good show in Toronto this week. The band is almost too big now (he seems to add another permanent E Streeter every tour) and the carnival thing at the beginning is unconvincing, but it's been effin years since I tingled at a concert (the shots in She's The One --- 20,000 arms in the air) and I personally have never felt a concrete building the size of the Air Canada Centre shake before (during Badlands). Up to his 70s/80s standard? Probably not. A better performer than just about anybody else? Absolutely. And, for what it's worth, I don't think this sounds like Jenny at all.

I don't listen to commercial radio anymore, so I don't really care if the Boss is playing there too. More power to him. I still like hearing him here, if its good. And this makes the cut.
Oh yay Bruce. I shouldn't like this but i do. He sounds like he is having fun and it *does* boogie :)
I suppose the next up is REM?

Yeah, and even Tommy Tutone knew to hang it up after he wrote the original.
I was hoping that maybe the pathetically overused, 4-chord structure was The Boss' way of satirizing the format and commenting on the degradation of quality music on the airwaves: I mean, the song's called "Radio Nowhere"... But I think I gave him too much credit.
