It's only love
It's only love
You know how it feels
Feeling is easy
I know

When I was young
When I was young
You know
It was real
My heart was open
but now
I know
I know
I know better

I've been shown
The other side
And now I see the way
Things are

It's only love
It's only love
You know how it feels
Feeling is easy
I know
Feeling is easy
I know
Feeling is easy
I know

Karsh Kale, if you are unfamiliar with his work, he's worth checking out!
Norah, as always, floats my boat...
What a great track from 2007 that I am just hearing for the first time. The wonders of RP never cease! LLRP!

I saw Harry last weekend... wonderful show with the love of my life.
Karsh Kales Distance album is worth checking out.  Be nice to hear more of him here.

Way to sneak Norah into two of the past five songs..... I certainly don't mind a bit!
Lovely hearing these sisters make beautiful music together.
Love, love, love this song!

Thanks for the introduction to this song.  It made me curious enough to check out the rest of the album.  It's very interesting.  Thumbs up to Bill and Rebecca for their eclectic tastes in music.  I don't think Anoushka Shankar and Karsh Kale would have appeared on my radar otherwise.  {#Cheers}

Well said, in total agreement.

Anoushka Shankar- Norah Jones= Nice!
So very well done. The restraint of both artists is exceptional.

"It's very exciting, captivating and soothing, hear musical notes, combining melodic, deeply felt, emanating from the hands and the soul of this young and talented artist Anoushka Shankar. Always loyal and determined to respect, and to make known its roots. It is commendable."

I decided to reproduce this comment, because I have not figured exactly which is the reason for the inclusion of this song of Anoushka Shankar & Karsh Kale, is due to the recognition of merit and artistic work of Anoushka Shankar, or any other aspect less relevant.....
And I'm more confused, because on-air playlist of RP, not shown, no further work song of artist Anoushka Shankar, for example "Breathing under water".

Yes, quiet as in tranquil...and nicely contrasting with the Indian instruments.

me too I've heard it several times now and really love it

Two beautiful sets, this one and the last. Got me dreaming away with a smile.
I saw Anoushka Shankar perform at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis a few days ago. She and her band stuck to the classical Indian style for the most part, although purists might say that adding a piano and trap set to the conventional sitar/tabla/shehnai/tanpura array isn't Indian. The only vocals were on a call-and-response song between the drummer and Tanmoy Bose, the tabla master. I would have enjoyed some of the east/west blend such as on this song, but the performance was luminous and riveting, and the band was called back for multiple encores.
really dug Anoushka on that "Concert For George" DVD (a tribute to George Harrison).
Great segue Bill from Nitin Sawhney to this. Very nice.

i'm not sure about shankar's bio, but kale and jones are both mixes of american and ethnic with the american being the dominant influence (IMO), so your comment, while drawing a very silly conclusion (again IMO), is based on a solid observation.
Love the bass line in this song. Simple and sweetly nuanced
well said. redeyespy wrote:

Way to throw categories around without any discern for relevance, applicability, or details. Your argument is so broad as to be pointless. joanie wrote:

Wow, that was fantastic.
Heh, I was just going to say, Anoushka sings just like Norah...and I love Karsh Kale.
I like it better every time I hear it...almost hypnotic.
...i normally don't care for norah jones, but this is pretty...

I'd love to hear more cuts from this CD. Ravi and Anoushka gave a wonderful performance here. I have to admit, I got really burned out on Norah, thanks to a co-worker incessantly playing her first CD and also thanks to terrestrial radio. She sounds like an "add on" here, perhaps for marketing?
Ravi doesn't play on this song but is featured on two others on the album, which is very good. Even Sting takes a turn. Although the album has several East/West crossover songs, it is predominantly in the Indian style, which isn't to everyone's liking.

ho hum at best
I on the other hand find this cd to be one of the best I bought this year. Norah can serenade me anytime! and adding to her sisters talents make her all the better. I'm glad to see that she is doing more stuff with her family and especially with Ravi. I heard that there was a rift there for a long time. Nothing like forgiving and moving on... why can't the rest of the world do that?

Wow! Could've been Ravi Shankar and daughter Norah Jones if I hadn't looked at the "Now Playing". edit: Oops!

It's funny, the song wasn't really jumping out at me, but when I heard Bill say "Anoushka Shankar" I lit up. I actually met her several years ago at one of her dad's performances. The two of them came out after the show was over and shook hands with many of the members of the audience. I had a good chuckle during the performance which was billed as "classical indian" music and Ravi broke into a few lines from Bach. Sadly, my dad and I were the only ones in the audience who noticed... Long story short, I'm glad "the family" is collaborating and I'm not at all surprised at the embracing of East and West.
She also plays a mean sitar! Very talented family.
