I've now heard four versions of this and this is by far the weakest.

For my money, Dave Alvin's is the best.

this guy's voice is way too clean - no edge.  no thanks.

I agree, the narrator of the song should sound like he's smoked too many cigarettes and seen the bottom of too many whiskey glasses, this singer sounds likes he's never drunk anything harder than Diet Coke.

I like some of the tunes from this recording.....this one tho'...not so much
perhaps this would have been better as an instrumental.
his incorrect enunciation of "cold coffee" made me wince.

I prefer Cracker's version. The vocals definitely fit the song.

Cracker's version blows this one out of the water.
So this is a guy with a bad voice singing songs other people wrote? Who funded this?
{#Puke} ... Cracker does a better job on this song.

No really think about it...Axl hitting those lines like "And I got no chance of losing this Tiiiaaaaaiiiiaaaaaaiiiimmeee"  It would rock.
This is a hard hitting tune, not a ballad.

Maybe, but I was never an Axl Rose fan.  His voice grates on my nerves.  Maybe someone else?

I think his voice is very interesting. Theres a little bit of fuzz there, and more twang than I would like, but it's not just another pop-fluff or grunge-fest.

It would be interesting to hear his take on some Lightfoot.

Good cover of a GREAT song.
Mystified by the low rating.  Meticulous guitar and voice.  But more, the song just has heart, that je ne sais quoi.

No wonder we think alike....I grew up in Tucson. Still go back once in a while.

I prefer Cracker's version. The vocals definitely fit the song.

Yup, I liked it at first, but the guys voice, more specifically the emotion in his voice, just doesn't seem to fit the song at all.
Some fabulous music right here!
He sounds far too nice (for lack of a better term) to be singing this. Kind of like a business professor talkin' crap at a biker bar.

I like Lowery's scruffy voice best of them all.

And, yes, I'm entitled to be wrong.

Not good either {#Crashcomp}
Not bad. I'd never buy this album though.
Musically, this is a great album.  It's hard to get over this guys vocals though.
This sounds like what would happen if James Taylor and Rascal Flatts had a child.  A mildly retarded child.  This is the 3rd song I have heard off of this album and I hope it is the last.
Didn't realize this was a Greatful Dead cover... all this time I thought it was a Lowery tune. Seems so obvious in hindsight (hindsound?).

Better than the TN Jed cover he did.  Nice.
Another great cover-I like this!  By the way...First!
