I been drinking so much I can't sing straight
Better hope that it's not too late
To save the only thing that I've ever had
It was here in my own two hands

Maybe it's good, maybe it's fine,
Maybe I'll learn to walk the line

It's been a very short run I must object
You're not really gonna take it away just yet
I need ten more years to get to good
I just did what I thought I could (get away with)

Maybe it's good, maybe it's fine,
Maybe I'll learn to walk the line

I was an ugly kid with an ugly name
Never had much of a wild side to tame
But I grew up pretty and tall and fine
I just wanted to have my time (have some fun)

Maybe it's good, maybe it's fine,
Maybe I'll learn to walk the line

Give me one more chance to get things right
I wanna put it back the way it was overnight
But a change of ways seems a bit too much
I don't really want to change my life a such

Maybe it's good, maybe it's fine,
Maybe I'll learn to walk the line
Maybe it's fine, maybe it's good,
Maybe it'd message understood

Maybe it's good, maybe it's fine,
Maybe I'll learn to walk the line

Fantastic!
Good breeding indeed!
If you haven't already done so, go to RP website and drop a 20 on 'em.  I finally did yesterday and eased my mind for not doing it before! {#Heartkiss}
Imagine what he will accomplish when he fills his shoes
I love this man ,almost as much as his dad!!!
Thompson family have made an album called appropriately Thompson Family album, we are seeing them perform it on the 19th Dec.

Richard, Linda,Teddy, Kami (daughter) and her husband (they Perform as The Rails).

So it would seem the DNA didn't fall far from the tree.

I had no idea he was Richard and Linda's son. Bloody hell, there's some genes. No wonder I enjoy this so much. The horns are excellent, BTW, I love a good horn section.

Oh I say! This has just gone up from a 7 to an 8.
This is really, really cool. I like everything about it.
Can you absorb cool-ness from a song? Feel like I am...

It's the horns that make it for me.
I watched a vid of a live performance of this  and the horns just weren't there and the whole thing fell flat.
It was the horns that ruined it for me, otherwise a very solid tune, yes a little younger Johnny Cash.
I listen to RP every day and have heard this song dozens of times since it first got played 4 years ago. I like it, I think, but up until just now, I never looked to see who it was, or rate the song. Maybe that means I don't really like it? I guess I'll go with a 7.
Sounds like Cash 'walking the line', looks like a young Stipe.
Taping along w this one!
Got Damn I didn't expect horns up in dis one.......... it's killer.
Horns are awesome!

Is it just me, or does his voice sound a little like Johnny Cash?
He's great..... and so is his Dad! Check out TT's version of 'The Price of Love'

Have been lucky enough to see TT twice, including on the Thekla, a boat in Bristol harbour converted (by Viv Stanshall of the Bonzo's) into a great venue - what a night.... 'The Boat that Rocked'!
Bumped my rating to an 8! Spurt lifting, foot tapping fun. Love horns!
Those horns are really ripping it!!!!
More!!!!!!!
I love this!

F*ck me, that horn really sends juice through my nerves. 'Kin excellent! 9 from the toe-tappin' twitchin' Nottingham jury.

Couldn't agree more! He has an album of honky tonk covers that absolutely kills. Probably my favorite CD in past five years.
Echoes of Choctaw Bingo.
is this a good time to mention I met the dude and he signed his latest cd?  okay
Wanted so much to see him open for the Old 97's in Columbus last week, but couldn't.  Saw Richard Thompson at the Dublin (OH) Irish Fest almost ten years ago.

Picky, picky, picky....  It was the closest thing I had to a dancing banana. (Cucumber with mutant arms? That's really funny!!) {#Lol}  Now, get back to work, AvoidingWork! {#Roflol}

This is just a really great song!  I can hear undertones of his dad, but the sound and writing are all his... Sorta like listening to Jordan Zevon and hearing the ghost of Warren... (Um, except that Richard is still alive, so not his ghost so much as his inadvertent influences...) {#Roflol}

Nicely put.  Talk about benefiting from both parents!

Does this sound a bit Morphine-ish?

I was thinking the vocal sounded a lot like Mark Sandman (RIP).

The kid has a good voice. Papa must be proud. p.s.and of course, he's very handsome, too.

Did I mention SEXY voice??  {#Pray}
The cover photo sort of looks like Tim from The Office (BBC version).
curious as to the rest of the album... I see that he's got another out that is a bit of roots country... any word? really dig this a lot!!
also, one of the sexist voices out there!
I love me all them Thompsons (Mom, Dad, Son)!{#Bananajam}

Woodwinds - yes.

Brass - no.
Well, he's no Richard (who is?), but this isn't bad!
These lyrics get to me on a very personal level.

That organ reeet reeet sound reminds me of the Munster's theme song

No you're not alone.{#Roflol}
It has some elements of "The Munsters" too.

K. There's a bit of talent here. Composition, vocal, the players, the groove. Wow.

Anyone else find themselves going "Batman!" in time with the horn blasts?  Just me?
Certainly a fine heritage indeed............
Chris Rea - Auberge, anyone?
I like this. Something of a departure from what I'm used to hearing from him.
Very nice!

YES. morphine with a big band.
Sexy brass!
no way! love it.
Wow. A thrill to find Teddy here on RP.  His cover of Walking the Floor Over You never fails to please.  I am not yet familiar with this cd.
This instantly hits the list of "must buy!" for me. Rockin', for sure. He definitely inherited some real talent!!

(Well, and to hear great old stuff, other old stuff I missed...and speakin' of old stuff: Minnie the Moocher! Makes me want to dig out the Jeeves & Wooster tapes!)

Diggin the instrumentation on this one.

Excellent!
