There are code breakers with lines well tapped
Traces sweeping out across the static night
You are draped in white like the blossoms of the tree
Looking down a glass elevator
At your father signing the papers for
Two silver trees, two silver trees
Two worlds in need, two silver trees

Branches falling down
From sources underground
False identities
Stranded in each single seed

False sense of warning no poisoned cup
Just deception crawling up like a snake
Decay of the blossoms and roots well hacked
Spoil the hidden waters dying at the base of
Two silver trees, two silver trees
Two worlds in need, two silver trees

Branches falling down
From sources underground
False identities
Stranded in each single seed

Calexico is the best, coolest songs, great guitar and and one of the best drummers for touch and accents. Seen them in concert a couple of times - and just as good live. Was scheduled to see  them again this summer...then COVID messed up my summer concert schedule
One of my favorite bands ever. In the whole wide. World. For those who don’t get it.... I’m truly sorry. Thank RP for introducing me to this band. Probably the number 2 reason I am a monthly donor!! ❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼
I used to like Calexico.  Somehow now when I hear them I get an incredible anxious feeling and the hair stands up on the back of my neck.  I don't know why.  It's not bad music.  I just seem to react with a lot of anxiety.  Same thing has happened with Iron and Wine.  I used to like both of these, but now they're both instant PSD or I start to feel my stomach turn in knots.

The Silver Trees refer to cell phone towers.

I here  "Song for you"  at begining (piano part). usajpl wrote:

It's a play on words: Silviculture + Two Silver Trees = Silverculture.

My wife regularly tells me to stop making obscure jokes that other people will not understand or find funny just because I do. She's right as usual.

Merci.

Joli jeu de mots, as me say in french !

What you missed out on was their perfect rendition of Bowie's 'Five Years'!
Too much reverb
It's a challenge not to rate this a 10.  But I'm sure someone else will do it for me.
8->9, I keep hearing it, here on RP, at home because I bought the CD, and just the other day in a restaurant - and it keeps getting better. They were just here at Womad, but sadly I could not justify the trip between islands and $259 ticket. But one day I hope to hear it in person.

Before we was met,  I didn't even know a GUI  from Thelonious.
And my friend taught me what it means to be in her,
And to be with the best part of  her swansongs
In the best of both worlds.
Saw Calexico this year in Germany, great concert with Gaby Moreno as supporting act.

Thank you Dortmund!!!

Holy Guacamole! Dortmund Konzert Haus was glorious. Thank you for the sold out show and Danke Schön für alles

Lindsey Buckingham was not in Fleetwood Mac until a few year after "Bare Trees" was released.  Interesting connection made in that other post, though.
My favorite band,,,,new album due out early this Fall!!!!! preview:

Agreed, and no attempt to denigrate RP, and you're right, we all have our favorites.  But Calexico has never gotten 1% of the airplay of Foo Fighters, Led Zepp or any other band you can name.  I guess I just like something I can hear on RP that isn't (but they play just about everything) mainstream.

Yeah, give the Foo Fighters & Led Zepp a rest & more Calexico any day of the week...

Really nice transition from Subterranean Homesick Alien.  But, Bill, you really need to get a life. Oh, wait ... this IS your life! :-)
Lucky, mine too, AMAP.

According to Google, Silver Tree can be a resort in Aspen, an apartment complex in Atlanta, a video game company, a film producer from Petaluma, and those cheesy Christmas decorations made from aluminum.

As for trees covered in snow and ice, my skiing buddies and I call those things snow ghosts.

Saw them perform live last March at WOMAD in Adelaide, Australia. Yes, I fought my way to the stage and it was well worth it. Quite an intense, spirited performance!!

To the person who thought it was Lindsey Buckingham.
No, it was Danny Kirwan from 1972.
Bare Trees was one of their better albums.

Anything Calexico...keep it coming!  This is when RP is at its best...

Twin Pines Mall from the movie Back to the Future.
Presumably they would be silverish during the winter. ;)

I was at that show as well....timed our "business trip" to coincide with the Belly Up concert. Always a great band live!

There is this brief moment at the beginning, which always reminds me of Summer in Siam.
This was the first of many bands that RP introduced me to. How lucky we are to have it.

Really like these guys but I think the vocals are weak (just a matter of taste)

I rarely make lists of my favorite this and that. And we've already put 2008 a bit behind us. But while humming and whisteling along to Calexico´s "Carried to Dust" album yesterday I thought "Damn, this was definitely my best musical buy in 2008!"

We also went to a Calexico concert last year, and it was amazing!

another band, along with "built to spill" that I'm glad you play a lot because i've always wanted to hear more. this song's alright (not my favorite of theirs.)

I'm leaving a large portion of my estate to RP for introducing me to Calexico, Porcupine Tree & Elbow... Sorry B&R, you'll have to be a little patient, unless of course my ex manages to bump me off sooner than I'm comfortable with.

Thanx a lot to Bill and Radio Paradise for letting me discover this great band! The project of the spanish guy who sings with them, called Depedro is also very much worth checking out.

When i'll stop being a student and earn some money - i'll be sure to donate to RP, i swear!
I started out thinking Calexico was kind of meh, but the more I heard them the more I liked them, and now I like them a lot.

Got it too.

I listen to a lot of Calexico and love them but let's face it, they usually tread a reasonably predictable track ... I don't mean that in a bad way - I just mean that if you listen to a lot of Calexico you kinda know what you're going to get.

But every now & again they pull something quite special out of the bag.  And this is one of those.  The mandolin does it for me, big time, with that chugging bass.  Sweet.
!

This band has so many moods and sounds. Love the variety.
