Obviously, this is a song about her divorce.  Yeah, I'd run for the door too if I had to listen day after day to that overly-calculated yodel she cultivates as a vocal "style."

Someone needs to come to Alanis' defense here, and I'll use this semi-positive comment as a starting point.

Alanis is IMHO a very smart, clever and creative pop artist with a fine voice and some excellent choice of collaborators.

After hearing the first single of her first album, long beyond the overplay, overhype, overeverything occurred, I went to a listening station at a record store and heard the entire album straight through.  It was fresh, ballsy, challenging, rocking, fun, thought provoking, well performed and well produced.  Despite all the over's noted above I continued on to repeated listenings finding particular interest in letsser tracks like Forgiven (which I relate to as a a lapsed catholic) and Not the Doctor.

Damn good album.  The second was good but not as and the idea of following the rest just drifted.  But Jagged Little Pill was excellent.

No, not cutesy. An instance of a larger problem, namely a rampant epidemic of people trying to sound smarter than they are by throwing around terms like "pseudo-" and "quasi-".
