(no lyrics available)Don't you ever invite your boyfriend here-
I like to be here alone
Just answer the door and feed the deer
And fight the telephone
Got to learn these words and I know you will
Or I'll send you right back to Guayaquil
Say " B'wana - He no home."
Say " B'wana - He no home. "

Got to peel your eyes for the heat, my dear
You got to froth and foam
Got to send away the mad puppeteer
Who seems to think this is Home
I want you to speak the English right
I want you to smile and be polite
Say " B'wana - He no home."
Say " B'wana - He no home. "

I don't care if you drive my 220, honey...
Don't let 'em steal my chrome
I don't care if you spend all my money ,honey...
Long as you leave me alone
I just want you to try to remember one thing:
If somebody knocks or the telephone rings
Say " B'wana - He no home. "
Say " B'wana - He no home. "

In 1968 on one of those youthful 'hitchhiking through Europe' trips we were in Santorini looking for a good bar to watch the sunset and walked past a place playing MF and thought 'this is the place!' His mellow jazz sound always brings to mind that sunset.
Big Michael Franks fan, thanks Bill

For the love of God, Bill!  Please no Michael Franks on RP!  He needs to be banished to smooth jazz along with The Kenny Bolton's, and Michael G's of the world!  What's next?  Yanni?  I get more than my fill of him watching golf on CBS.   YEEEEEEECCCCCH!

Would you say the same thing about the great Mose Allison? They both have smooth, mellow voices. Michael Franks songs were cleverly written and brilliantly performed. He employed some of the best musicians in the world as sidemen. Guys like David Sanborn, Michael Brecker, Joe Sample and Larry Carlton. By the way, "B'wana-He No Home," was a song about a time when Dan Hicks was staying at his house while Franks was away.

Shame on you for posting such an unenlightened and uneducated review.

Sounds like the recorded message one might receive if one were to call when Tarzan was out of the tree: "B'wana he no home. . ."

God, I hate that song!

Just say to Popsicle Toes.

We don't need to decide right away, but this is a good start at atonement.

See you guys start bashing Michael Franks the other day, and now look, Bill goes ahead and plays him. Apologize so that he won't play him any more!

So Bob, howz the wife and kids?

That's a great song title. Good sense of humor with this guy.
This makes me crave some Marc Almond!
Shall we really let him live down Popsicle Toes?
Wow....haven't heard MF in forever.  Nice!  I remember why I used to listen to him all the time (vinyl).  May need to get a CD or two!  Thanks BillG!

Bill, Bill, disposable?  Surely you misspoke.  In  addition to "Eggplant" and "Popsicle Toes" I'd add "Our Love is Just Like Baseball" to the essential Michael Franks list.  But then I'm a baseball fan.
Love Franks' smooth, mellow voice.
Eggplant, disposable? Never!

Whoah, really? Michael Franks on RP? Cool!

Edit: Well, maybe not "cool" in the traditional, Bart Simpson definition of "cool" — but hey, I like it!
We need to talk Diana Krall into doing a CD of Michael Franks covers.

I expected Bill's voice to come in after the song & say, "We'll be back with more Smooth Jazz right after these messages..."

Still a good tune, though!

I don't believe it......An hour an a half ago I checked to see if RP ever played any Michael Franks and it had not. Bill, are you reading my mind again?? {#Angel}

I never really got the whole "whistle as instrument" thing.  ;)
Holy Crap!!!  MIchael Franks!!!

I uploaded Popsicle Toes and Eggplant ages ago but they got rejected.  Bill, those are classics!
I knew I knew that voice. How about Sanpaku (Tiger In The Rain) as well. Wonderful Leo music!

Wow, now here's a blast from my past I never expected to hear. I played this (vinyl) album until I practically wore it out! Wonder where Michael Franks is now!  Thanks, Bill!
Yes!  Play more Michael Franks.  Lady Wants to Know or Antonio's Song.
