Miles of highway poppies, a stretch of maybe flowers
Past Signal Hill a ways
We were parked and searching
For a hubcap rolling into the fields of thorn
Although we couldn't see a thing that night
Stars still shone
In their slowness
And their slowness
Took us by surprise

If I never told you how you helped to rescue
The car and all inside
Remember roads were steep and
You and I went sliding down the grade from Gate's Pass
You asleep and me behind the wheel hovering
In that slowness
And that slowness
Has never gone away

because there's no way that this is better than "ticket for a ride" or "love me fcking do" or so many other insipid crap from the beatles. The beatles were made into pop icons that the masses were told to worship and worship they obediantly did.

How about the thousands of musicians that list the Beatles as influences?  How about the hundreds of bands that have taken cues from some of the sounds the Beatles pioneered?  Sure, some of their stuff was little more then a self indulgent LSD trip, but the vast majority of the Beatles catalog are both critical and commercial successes.

Just because you don't like them, does not automatically mean that they were "pop icons that the masses were told to worship and worship they obediently did."

The masses?  You can't talk to me that way!  I'll get big brother to wop you!

Going to see them this Sunday. . . .
A Gem from this album
Thanks to RP

How dare you compare this to the Beatles.

CALEXICO are basically unknown in Germany and possibly Europe.
Of course there are certain enthusiast who know them and most
other such bands, but even I had not heard of them - before RP
introduced me!

And I am thankful for the hint! They are a REAL GOOD band!
Authentic especially - one of the most important factors for me to
like a band!

I like the Slowness...perfect for a Friday afternoon. My computer shoulders are less tight now. Thanks, Bill and Rebecca!

Clearly a Yank.  Genetically deficient in irony.

e ascoltate appena potete almeno due dischi dei Calexico.
poi tornate a dirmi quali e che impressioni avete avuto.
e grazie a chi commenta questa foto emotiva da prima fila al concerto di milano.

OMG, is it possible, a band even more boring to listen to than the Cowbow Junkies!!   {#Headache}
i had just ordered this minutes before from the Liberry system and "the Weepies" which i got introduced to here.

I think this song is what the "3. Ho-Hum" rating was invented for.

Bill,

If you started up an "all Calexico, all day" radio station, I'd be the first contributor! Calexico is better than the Beatles.

Garden Ruin is a great next purchase then.

"The Black Light" is even better
Ah! a song about Tucson Arizona!  I miss home, the monsoon sky and all the stars in their "slowness"

I bought this album after hearing some of the other tracks on RP.  Very solid throughout.  Likely step out and get another Calexico soon.

   That's why it's titled Slowness.

Bill, this was ironic. Both of the sentences: RadioParadise is already an "all Calexico, all day" radio station. {#Stop}

No Bill.  Please don't play more cuts from this or any other Calexicrap album.  I would love to go just one work day without having to hear anything from this freakin' band.  Really.

I give it a zero.
kinda slow isn't it?
Great album - you need to play some more cuts, Bill.

Oh Yes! very good  the intervention/contribution of Pieta Brown in song "Slowness" (she is daughter of folk musician Greg Brown)

Just finished listening to this album (thanks to RP) and I don't mind listening to this song again!  Great album
cool cover. cool song
I can see this really growing on me... thanks RP for introducing me to Calexico
Zat Martha Wainwright?  Nice tune.

ETA:  Looks like it might be Pieta Brown.
