They're just words, they ain't worth nothing
Cloud your head and push your buttons
And watch how they just disappear
When we're far away from here

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

Oh who put all those cares inside your head
You can't live your life on your deathbed
And it's been such a lovely day
Let's not let it end this way

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

Like sisters and brothers we lean on each other
Like sweethearts carved on a headstone
Oh why even bother, it'll be here tomorrow
It's not worth a-sleeping alone

And look at you and me still here together
There is no one knows you better
And we've come such a long long way
Let's put it off for one more day

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

Good song; great film.
О, прикольное название группы)
a song  with whistling is generally nice in my book
Wow, what a relief after R.E.M. (which I hate).

Very true. Unfortunately, this isn't. In my humble opinion, anyway.

This song is sort of their "hit" radio friendly tripe. Not indicative of most of their music. Most of their tunes have an Eastern European flavor to them. Sort of like a milder version of GoGo Bordello (they have shared billing with them in the past)
Saw them at Redrocks open for David Byrne really liked it. Saw them at the Paramont- fantastic. Seeing them with the Colorado symphony in June.
Check out some of the videos. Then go see them live. You won't be disappointed.

Not often I click the skip button, but this was one of those occasions. Not for me.
Interesting. Almost the same refrain as in "Heavenly Club" from Les Sauterelles in 1968:

First time I ever had to mic a sousaphone for a live show was working with this great band. "Just drop it down the bell" says the tuba player! Sounded great and they always put on a great live show!
Strings and whistling. Andrew Bird does that better.

This is fantastic. Sticks in my head like musical glue.

"musical glue" love it. I'm gonna use that one.
I thought this was early Moody Blues before I looked up the song.
I really like this song.
Are you kidding me?  Bad vocals, fatuous lyrics and strings?  "Not what they call rock and roll".
In Russian "DeVotchKa" - little Girl
Would gladly trade this for Dead Kennedy's.

From his first note, I could tell this was DeVotchka. Lovely.
Does anyone else hear 'James' in the vocals? Good movie...nice tune.
This is fantastic. Sticks in my head like musical glue.
the ex love-of-my-life introduced me to these folks in Feb 2005. I loved them and their sound - until we broke up. Up until last month, I couldn't listen to their album/CD. But finally put it in the CD player in the car on a drive to Bend, OR from Gilroy, CA.I didn't cry my eyes out! Hooray!!!  Almost threw the CD away, but haven't yet. The singer from DeVotchka - his voice still breaks my heart - but not with memories of the ex-creep. Double hooray!!!
Such a distinct sound they have!

I went to the concert- With three hundred other people, in a tiny room in The Mercury Cafe in Denver. The whole band was just standing around, chatting with people. It was AMAZING.

I agree, and I loved the movie!

I did not like that movie so much! But this music is not so bad!
meh 4 -> 3

Light, breezy and just a little "rough." That gives it a very nice character that I can really enjoy on our sunny Spring day in central Pennsylvania.

This didn't work in the movie, either.
Well, certainly not Ho-hum, but a little dull, probably. Nothing special, but there are songs about that are much worse.
His dreary voice drops it from ho-hum to marginal.
Whistling is cool.....this song is not!{#Puke}

Yup, I'll second that. Aural Mogadon. A solid 3 from the somnolent Nottingham jury {#Sleep}

Long time listening to RP has made me realize that Bill is a big fan of whistling. {#Whistle} Nothing wrong with that.

I've gotta say that the play list this afternoon has simply confirmed (again) why I love listening to RP. Great themes, great artists, and great music all from a great DJ. Keep it going, Bill.

  Aw, cmon, it's at least a 4.
This song is the very embodiment of the 3 "ho-hum" rating.
This vocalist has the same monotonous whine I usually associate with Radiohead, but in this case the music isn't so good either.
Hate this. But it does have me want to start whistling...(insert whistling here)

No one really needs that graphic, and that goes double for manbirdexperiment.

Here, here!

This is like The Smiths, except good.
Welly, welly, welly.  I'd like to kick Devotchka in the yarbles, if she had any yarbles.

All right, I'll just pull this lever, that should do the trick...AHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Upon pulling the lever a trap door opened up under him and he fell down a long chute into a large garbage container. The rubbish softened his fall so that he was not injured, however he certainly was a smelly mess as he exited the garbage. He brushed off some of the dirt and slowly made his way out of the building and began the long walk home where he would shower and change his clothes. Such ends another typical day in the life of Mr. Bond.

I must be in a totally different mood than when I first rated this. I gave it a 3 back then, but it's 7 for me today!
A song in search of a tune?

Sounds like that histrionic show-tune singer Rufus Wainwright to me.

Just adding some DeVotchKa love here.  I support RP's continued patronage of their music.

I use that distinction b/c there are plenty of crash/burn/kill/explode "movies" that plenty of the "movie"-likers, to which your refer, like plenty. I would say that the difference between the use of the words "movie" and "film" is the intellectual participation of the audience. At least that's how I think of it.

Well said. Movie is Hollywood crap and film is art.
the whistling made me think Andrew Bird
boy was I wrong
Derivative aspirations to pop.

Didn't make it.
Man, I can't stand this song.
I have foreseen...Some day I'll grow up to be DeVotchKa!

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

Just awful.......
Yay! More DeVotchKa love from RP!
this isn't the kinks?

Absolutely.  No car chases or crashes, no slashers or other gratuitous violence, no superheros, no sex, nothing that a 15 year old male mind could wrap itself around, eh?

{#Mrgreen}

It was a great movie if you like movies.

Are you KIDDING!? Movie rocked... such a PLEASANT surprise. Steve Carrol NOT doing Steve Carrol! Arkin is priceless and that lil kid can ACT! Only SLIGHT down-side was Greg Kinnear - too over the top, but HEY it fit the script so it bowled me over!

Not wild about crooner songs like this though... meh.

This movie sure stunk, though!
Well that's just crazy. All of it. {#Drunk}
Finally, more Devotchka! Thanks, Bill!
