I'm returning to '72's Super Fly and Curtis Mayfield's fantastic sound of the time  : )  would be welcome to hear some Mr. Mayfield, maybe given our political landscape some Gil Scott Heron as well
Peace

I Agree!   This is a GREAT  Weather Report tune!  Thanx RP!

I was just out of H.S. delivering furniture for a living. Late '73/early '74 I guess. Anyway I made friends with this cool hippy guy from Alabama; Monroe, I think. Turned out he was a supply clerk during the Tet Offensive. He said he never fired his rifle but he could see plenty of fireworks from afar while perched on the supply hut roof in a lawn chair...but, I digress.

He and his wife met during a stint as Peace Corps volunteers and were into progressive jazz and also turned me on to a fine sense of acceptance and friendship. I miss those what now seem like but brief moments...time travel

A year or so later I myself was an enlisted man. What a long strange trip it's been...

Cool story!  Thank You for sharing it!

Very '70s. Good music then, just OK now.  This is an artifact, like bell bottom jeans. It sounds like a long suite for an urban movie soundtrack. It's too long, kind of meandering. That's jazz, but the best jazz seems not to get into a groove that this can't seem to stay out of. But the band line up is stellar.

I PSD to this from Mark-Almond's "The City." This is a lot more driving and funky than "The City", which sets a record for meandering. Yes, it has an urban movie soundtrack feel but it's right on.

Reminds me a bit of Zappa's Chunga's Revenge. I like it.

High Quality music man    the album art looks like when I peeked into my room mates room during a wicked bong party and everyone was packed tight and chillin'  : P
I can't say this is musically up my alley, but it is quite effective in drowning out the horribly annoying noise of a colleague typing on a ThinkPad using a technique appropriate for some cast-iron typewriter.
Oh my. Can we get Apple to add PSD to iTunes...

Bump, bump!  I miss these guys in a big way.
Four comments ago, it was 2010, I think this has been playing since then?

Weather Report; one of the most amazing bands ever.
Thanks for this, Bill.
Okay. Anytime you want to stop this is good with me.
Very annoying.  And way, way, way too long.

Man, look at all the comments from the ONE TIME Bill played this!  Weird!  I uploaded this track once, and got 'sorried'!

I just saw that Bill now has this track on the playlist!  Cool!  Sorry I missed the one time he played it!

Always dug Shorter and Zawinul's (RIP) work.

For the uninitiated, they're both grads of the Miles Davis school, just like John "Mahavishnu" McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and a whole slew of others.

Speakin' of McLaughlin, how about adding some Mahavishnu Orchestra to the RP mix sometime? You Know, You Know would be outstanding.
this music is SO not my thing{#Razz}

Black Market.

I'd suggest sampling iTunes. There's a "buttload" of solid WP out there. Some wild and free, some very "produced." Dip your toe in, the water's wonderful.

Ah, this album caught my ear and kept it until their next, "Mysterious Traveler" blew me away.

The only band that plays sounds I can see.
Thanks for playing this when everyone in my office is out to lunch.

Way to dig deep, RP!  With the Return to Forever reunion tour wrapped up, I'm finding myself listening to my 30 year old hits like this again...AND LOVING THEM! (Loved the Al diMeola the other day, too!)

Interesting...

Feel like I need a big fro and some go go boots.
