If your idea of good music requires volume, a driving base, or danceability, then Ray LaMontagne will not be your cup of tea. If, however, you like thoughtful lyrics, catchy melodies, and exceptional production quality, then you should listen to more Ray Lamontagne. The artist blurb compares him to a bunch of other artists but really, he stand out as an individual artist. He is neither pop, folk, rock, or jazz put can effortlessly include influences from all genres in his music. Most artist have some songs that I don't care for. I can't say that about Ray, I like everyone of this songs. One of best live performers I seen too.

I totally disagree with you. In my opinion he has enormous talent and a very low key demeanor. I enjoy his work a lot. I think he writes great lyrics and I feel that his voice is unique and special.

He's got such a distictive delivery, its both a blessing and a curse.  That which makes me say "wow" eventually makes all the songs sound the same.  I feel similarly about Sufjan Stevens... I like him, but I need a break occasionally to keep from getting "too much" of a good thing.

I first heard Ray on an NPR program in 2004. I was captivated immediately by his voice and the arrangement of his songs and vowed right then and there to get some of his music. It took me another six months before Trouble came out to get some of his music, and since then I have purchased everything he has put out.

What a wonderful artist!!

If you wanna hear some spectacular Ray, check out his Pre-Trouble stuff listed here. Acre of Land and Green Demo are just awesome. None of this stuff was ever actually released so you have to scour the net for it.

I bought one of his other CDs and found myself getting tired of hearing his voice after a few songs.  All of it sounds like it is in the same key, same volume, same intonation, with minor variations in the instruments.
This song follows right along with the others.
