Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
I'll be needing you.

I know sometimes you may wonder
From little things I say and do
But there's no need for you to wonder
If I need you, 'cause I'll need you.

Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
I'll be needing you.

Too many times I don't tell you
Too many things get in the way
And even though sometimes I hurt you
Still you show me, in every way.

Till the rivers all run dry
Till the sun falls from the sky
Till life on earth is through
I'll be needing you...

As a "good ole boy" - if you don't know the difference between rednecks and good ole boys you don't have standing to comment - Don Williams captures my demographic accurately, just as Jerry Jeff captures his (different) adopted demographic accurately.
I can't comment on "schlagermusic" not being of that demographic, pro or con, but I have, my friends have, lived Don Williams' songs. Back off
Just not a CW fan!

No. I am not from the US and this music sounds like folk music but not in a good way. More in a generic cheapish way. We have that kind of music too and we call it 'schlagermusic'. I would not call it very eclectic.

If I have to point to a weak spot on RP it would be 2 things:
- Bad country music
- 'Pretty Swedish girls on the cover'- music

My friend, I do not know what "schlagermusic" is but I can tell you that this song IS part of the eclectic mix that radio paradise lovingly provides us. If you want to put it down then that is fine but when you misuse the word eclectic it pretty much negates your entire argument. You might as well have said that this song is not a library.

Thanks again for broadening my horizon RP!
WTF? 5.9? This man has a remarkable voice...
Always room for a little country.

A smarter sounding & overall better version than this dull original, IMHO. Great song, though.

That's where I first encountered it, too.  Initial exposure makes an imprint that's tough to overcome. But I've learned to dig the original. Like Marley's I Shot The Sheriff, though I heard EC's cover first.
There is lots of other good Country, C&W, and Americana but it was a real nice to hear this smooth voiced song. Thank you RP.
This is why Loyal RP Listeners Listen!
Bill will educate those that Listen.

Many Thanks to Bill & Rebbeca

There's a Radiolab episode (https://www.wnycstudios.org/po...) about the international popularity of country music. At one point, the host asks: "You mean to tell me Don Williams could go to Zimbabwe and sell out..." and the guest interjects: "I'm telling you Don Williams HAS gone to Zimbabwe and sold out arenas." (Paraphrased.)

Anyway, Don Williams was one of my dad's favorites so I'm surprised and pleased to hear a little of him here.
Was lucky enough to see him at the Paramount in Austin, couple years before he passed away. In person, his voice was even better.

sounded very much like Don. Bit lower though, so he played this one octave down.

I don't know,... it ain't country to me because it doesn't have any twangin steel guitar run that I could hear and not any screaming or scratchy fiddle work no hint of a mouth harp.

Sounded more like a orchestra to me.

Sounds more like what the crooners did years back to me. But not country and western to my ear.

Don Williams does another song that I like called "It's nothing to me" good tune decent guitar work and a real good story to it if you bother to listen. Probably the only tune he ever recorded that I do really like.

Back in the seventies when I was a young airman, I was a loyal listener to WOUR in Utica NY - a station that was at that time as eclectic as RP.  I remember them giving this song a lot of air time.  Kudos to Bill, but those guys could take you from Peter Gabriel to Emmylou to Don Williams - all in one set.  My favorite day of the year was April 15 when they played The True Story of the Titanic by Jamie Brockett several times throughout the day.  It drove our first sergeant crazy (hint hint, Bill).

I know, I just don't think it's the preferred genre of a lot of listeners. I don't necessarily include myself in that.

then they need to broaden their horizons a bit! great song I say.

Reminds me of when I was little — nostalgic tune — good for RP for playing it.

Can't really see anything wrong with that.  A lot of what is played here could be classified that way.
