The waves crash in the tide rolls out
It's an angry sea but there is no doubt
That the lighthouse will keep shining out
To warn a lonely sailor
And the lightning strikes
And the wind cuts cold
Through the sailor's bones
Through the sailor's soul
'Til there's nothing left that he can hold
Except a rolling ocean

Oh I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
I'm ready for the storm

Oh give me mercy for my dreams
'Cause every confrontation seems to tell me
What it really means
To be this lonely sailor
And when the sky begins to clear
The sun it melts away my fear
And I shed a silent weary tear
For those who mean to love me

Oh I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
I'm ready for the storm

The distance it is no real friend
And time will take its time
And you will find that in the end
It brings you me
This lonely sailor
And when You take me by the hand
And You love me, Lord, You love me
And I should have realized
I had no reasons to be frightened

Oh I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
I'm ready for the storm

Thanks!
Unlistenable. Hurts my ears.

Wild is the wind.

Outstanding voice!
I like the 'storm series.'
Thank you, Bill. Yes, we are getting ready for the storm here in Boston. Very thoughtful of you for the themed set.

such is the essence of RP and why I tune in.. love this rendition as his accent is visible throughout.

Now there's a power group

(Sir Sean Connery, Lulu, Brian Cox and Amy MacDonald)

Very nice!!
must be storming out there somewhere, but here in the Galilee it's hot and sunny
This is such a fine, fine song, one of the best love songs in the world.
Lovely track.  Brings back fond traveling memories

Ditto.
Dougie live performances are sublime.
Perfect!!
Thank you RP! Your picks are excellent.
I like this live version even better than the studio.

I sure do miss seeing Dougie's live shows.....there's nothing like them in the world. His guitar work is so finessed and perfect, and he emotes every word and note....and is quite the hilarious entertainer in between songs. I suppose he's retired now...or maybe he just doesn't tour as extensively. But he has to be one of my favorite singer/songwriters/live performers of all time. {#Notworthy}
EDIT: Well, I see I've already posted this below....oh well! He deserves another recommendation! {#Lol}

I'll take a second rec!  I checked the website, and he's still touring, mostly everywhere BUT the U.S.  Still, at least he's out there, so do the treasure-hunt, find where he'll be, and try to get there. {#Mrgreen}
I like this one a lot. Very nice.

Nice grouping. Thank you.

Nu2Mi... So I appreciate it alongside the familiar.

it's the only track I really dislike on RP. Sorry.
A rainy Monday here in Oregon. Thanks for this sequence, Bill - a good soundtrack to the start of the week.
I love you Dougie!

Funny, this "storm" sequence, while indeed a big thunderstorm is currently moving over this town...
I can't believe I haven't commented on this!  Dougie MacLean (I heard it pronounced "Duggie" by some Philistine who no longer exists in my life.  What a wonderful addition to the RP library. I absolutely love his music - it tells stories, it gives music and inspiration, and it just makes me smile, even when he's singing about sad things.

More Dooooooooogie, please?
Any relation to Don?

Dougie used to tour regularly......I've seen him several times and he has to be one of the BEST and most artistic live acts I've ever seen....engaging personality, deft guitarist, brilliant lyricist, and velvety voice. What she said.  Dougie is a fantastic performer in a live show.

Suddenly this song just hits me...
Yawn.
Its been raining and overcast for the last week.  It has been predicted to continue for another week at least.  The music fits my cloudy mood.
Looking out the window, seeing a thunderstorm looming in the distance. RP delivers the perfect soundtrack.
The greater playlist suggests an apocalypse... or maybe somebody just had a real bad day.

Nice 'storm' sequence:

Dougie MacLean - Ready for the Storm (live)
New Grass Revival - When The Storm Is Over
Yoshida Brothers - Storm

It's great that RP keeps alive the declining art of the DJ. And this is one moving song - up to 9 from the Albaphile Nottingham jury.

On a different storm sequence this round.

The Doors - Riders On The Storm Chuck

Prophet - Storm Across the Sea

B.B. King - Stormy Monday

All good.

Pleasant and reflective. Quite nice.
This is a fantastic album.  So glad to hear Dougie on RP!
Wow...took me by surprise on a Sunday morning. Very nice, an 8
I love his voice, absolutely love his guitar, have heard other stuff of his that i like. i like simplicity, but sometimes his lyrics are maybe a little to earnest for me.
Very very nicely done and looking for it for a download if I can find it...cheers to all from Raleigh, NC USA!
Wow - that was cool.

dougie
One of many of his tunes that are great. Also he's a really great fiddle player.
Hey Dougie fans, mark your calendars, he's headlining KVMR's Celtic Festival & Marketplace on Sun. 10/4 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, CA!

Intense.
I've seen Dougie live three times, and he's absolutely amazing.

Someone asked about downloads a little earlier in the thread.  There's five or so songs on iTunes, and his whole catalog can be purchased as a download from his website.

Lovely song and performance; made me stop what I was doing to check out who it was.
Nice to hear some more Celtic music on RP. Yer man has a fine voice, right enough, and this version is easily as good as the studio version. 8 from the Albaphile Nottingham jury.
My friend turned me on to Dougie MacLean.

He's wonderful. I never thought I'd hear him on any type of radio, internet or otherwise!

Very Cool! Thank you!

Yes Sir, and all 3 are beautiful.  mandolin wrote:

Beautiful! Anything that makes me take pause from the mundane throes of work to take a deep breath and relax is a wonderful thing! And the Harvey Mandel follow-on just keeps the vibe going... {#Meditate}{#Clap}
Gorgeous rendition.
This is a great tune and completely impossible to find for download.
Wow, here's a man who can find his way around a ballad.

Very nice.
