Margaret arrayed the rocks around the hull before it was sinking
A million stones, a million bones, a million holes within the chinking

And painting rings around your eyes these peppered holes so filled with crying
A whisper weighed upon the tattered down where you and I were lying

Tell me now, tell me this, a forest's son, a river's daughter
A willow on the willow wisp, our ghosts will wander all of the water

So let's be married here today these rushing waves to bear our witness
And we will lie like river stones rolling only where it takes us

But I pulled you and I called you here
And I caught you and I brought you here
These hazards of love, never more will trouble us

Oh Margaret the lapping waves are licking quietly at our ankles
Another bow another breath this brilliant chill's come for the shackle

With this long last rush of air we speak our vows and sorry whispers
When the waves came crashing down, he closed his eyes and softly kissed her

But I pulled you and I called you here
And I caught you and I brought you here
These hazards of love, never more will trouble us
And these hazards of love, never more will trouble us

Anyone got some weed killer then ?
The reverse, as luck would have it. Goes quite well with this luscious ballad.

Seems to me they got the band orders mixed up! Andrew Birds good and this group......not so much.{#No}
I'm much more a fan of girl singers than guys - go figure.  But Colin achieves such passion and a quality of desperation that so fits his lyrics.  Awesome stuff.

Like I just said (for Bon Iver): "This is the worst sequence of 4s, 3s, 2s and 1s I've ever heard assembled!" (this one's a 2. or maybe it's a 1.)

Nowt as fickle as RP listeners: I've got it to 6 by now ...
Wow, this is an incredible work.  Love the poetry of the lyrics.
Great to hear another off this album-One of my favorites of 2009 so far.

{#Good-vibes}
Beauty.
mute.
The pedal steel echos of Graham Parsons....

just a lovely song!
Certainly the best album I've heard this (or many a ) year. It's prog/folk and rock. A magnificent combination.

So much going on in there for repeated listens - it just gets better.

Bought 'Her Majesty' and 'Picaresque'. Wish I hadn't bothered. Mediocre pap.

Perfect on a rainy morning.
I've always thought the Decemberists were okay, often very good. But this is a load of pretentious drivel.
Love this song...so sad. You must read the lyrics.

Just downloaded this and I'm really liking it. It's much better to listen to from start to finish. This is the last track on the record and a lovely way to wrap it up. I'm going to see them in July and really looking forward to hearing the new songs performed live. These guys just keep getting better and better.
The melody, rythm and tempo, at least for big bits of this, sound a LOT like Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb":
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.

Apart from that, it doesn't do much for me.

Is she a grower then, is she really a grower, is she - is she?
Like I just said (for Bon Iver): "This is the worst sequence of 4s, 3s, 2s and 1s I've ever heard assembled!"  (this one's a 2.  or maybe it's a  1.)

I am absolutely a Decemberist fan.
For whatever reason, I can't seem to get enough of the whiny/nasally voice, pretentious lyrics, and mysterious accent.

But this one I'm not so sure about. Maybe it's a grower.

Mock me if you must, but when this came on again today, I was pleasantly surprised to find I was enjoying it thoroughly and wondering why I didn't have this album already.

But then again, I always got a sick thrill from chewing foil.  (No, not really.)

I started this as a 5 but when Mr. Whiney let loose with the 'through the nose' vocals, I cringed and lowered it to a 2.

And let me remind everyone that I LIKE Neil Young.

I started this as a 5 but I started to enjoy it more as I listened, so a 7 for now.

Love the pedal steel.
I have listened through this album a few times, and it doesn't resonate with me like the last one does, but usually these guys have to grow on me.
