Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

There's a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Can you hear me running (can you hear me calling you?)
(Can you hear me) hear me calling you?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running babe?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running?
Calling you, calling you

Believe the high command.  God the Father and the Spirit will guide you and protect you
What do you mean can you hear me running? You're the mechanic.
Ahh bliss.
Good Tune!!
have not heard this in a while, liked it then, like it now. It takes me back to my late 20's.
Straight outta ABACAB...Rutherford seemed to use up most of his creative juices during his time in Genesis and this sounds like a pretty apparent lift of Mama.  Not that that's bad...just not wow.  Carry on folks...not ever song on RP is going to be a 10....

Better than the living years, but that’s the one that always get’s airplay
Wow, I thought this was Future Islands for a second, haha!
They played the hell out of this song back in the day. I was really ambivalent about it back in 85. Now it gets a an 8 for nostalgia. It really takes me back to another time and place..
I may not have heard this song since high school (back when the earth was cooling), but I still remember every word. It's amazing how well it has held up. And a little bit sad that so little has changed in our society that the lyrics still hit home.
Not heard for a long time... nice!
Thanks for PSD broadcast.
Fantastic...keep your powder dry boys
