Got to get on it
Got to get on it
Got to get on it

Bodies disengage, our mouths are fleshing over
(Over, over, over, over)
As hiss and echo gain, irises retreat into ovals of white

The urge to feel your face,
In blood rushing to paint my hand print
And frisbee, one by one, your vinyl on laminate
Desperate for some kind of contact

First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home, I've got to get on it
Got to catch, to catch, to catch, catch, catch the...
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home

Temporal dead zone where clocks are barely breathing
(Breathing, breathing, breathing)
Yet no one cares to notice for all their yamming on,
I clam up to hold it together

I want to Play-Doh waveforms in the hideaway
I want to get on with getting on with things
I want to run in fields, paint the kitchen, and love someone
And I can't do any of that here, can I?

First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home

So what, you've had one too many
So what, I'm not that much fun to be with
So what, you've got a silly hat on
So what, I didn't want to come here anyway

What matters to you, it doesn't matter, matter to me
What matters to me, doesn't matter, matter to you
What matters to you, doesn't matter, matter to them
What matters to them, it doesn't change anything

Got to get on it
First train home
Got to get on it
First train home

First train home, I've got to get on it
(I've got to get on it)
To catch, to catch, catch, catch, catch the...
(First train home)
First train home, I've got to get on it
First train home
(First train home)

Got to, got to, got to, got to
Get, get, get, get
Out, out, out, out
Now, now, now, now

Got her on PSD.   A major miss, imo, from a fine artist and one I admire.  A rare two from me.
I gave it a 1.  The 1 bar got just a hair fatter.
A true genius, love her...{#Music}

Totally. I like Imogen, but the tracks from her most current release as heard on RP don't make it, IMO.

I concur.

One of the better songs on the album, this leading track sets the tone for the rest of it.  Better than Speak For Yourself?  I dunno... but it's a strong effort.  I, for one, like it so far.

For fans (such as myself), the special edition album is worth the few extra bucks to have.  The second disc has instrumentals of each song on the LP, which is a cool touch and gives you a better glimpse at Immy's true talent (her composition).  It also comes in a cool "book" format, full of visual goodies.

8.

Every time I hear them, I like them more and more.
I like this song but it could sure use a real drummer. {#Drummer}

I like your location reference.  Excelsior was an acquired taste for sure.  His/her/its comments were nowhere near as off-base as his/her/its critics would have one believe, just a bit challenged when it came to saying anything positive.

He/She/It and I agreed on anything by Sigur Ros. I miss him/her/it also.

Ok, I like IH well enough, but I don't need to hear this same track every freakin' day.

'Nuff, already.

Easy with the "Enter" key, dude.

Hmm, first time I'm hearing this, but sounds kind of nice.  Giving it a 7 for a start.

I've been enjoying this album a lot... and the special edition comes with instrumental-only tracks, which is nifty if you're into remixing and such.

Actually, Imogen doesn't use an auto-tune. You be be confusing the auto-tune with the vocoder, Imogen does use a vocoder. The auto-tune is used to correct pitch, the vocoder is used to add effects.

Also, see Cher, Kid Rock, and just about every song on the top 40 today.

Here's a quote from Neko Case about auto-tune:

"I'm not a perfect note hitter either but I'm not going to cover it up with auto tune. Everybody uses it, too. I once asked a studio guy in Toronto, "How many people don't use auto tune?" and he said, "You and Nelly Furtado are the only two people who've never used it in here." Even though I'm not into Nelly Furtado, it kind of made me respect her. It's cool that she has some integrity." - https://stereogum.com/archives/wheres-the-beef/neko-case-hates-auto-tune-not-babies_002489.html

She sure is. She was on the CBC program Q yesterday, played this song on a piano, without all the effects...dynamite.

Lovely voice.  Good tune.  Her Brittish accent really comes out in the song.  Why don't we hear more of that?

I find this pretty bland. Plus I cannot understand why any singer would like to modify the pitch of his/her voice electronically... to me it just indicates that she can't sing as she would like to!

That may well be the case (that she's masking a weak voice electronically) but for whatever reason it doesn't bother me; it's just her sound.

See her live, and you WILL change your mind.

She certainly follows the DIY motto. I like the way she uses her voice like an instrument - altering the pitch and the volume throughout the song.

Good point. Me, too. She certainly understands the current business model; she interacts with her fan base through the v-blogs and such. She's in with Tori Amos ... haven't heard much "new" since my first listens, but ... something's catchy enough to lend an ear.

This was rude. Even if half true, she's on her struggle...

Yeah, dig it. She's clearly not taking any chances here, but that's ok with me. She does that plenty. It's a wonderful, reliable sound.

Wow — mean!

Does anyone else feel like she's the electronic age's Enya? I mean, all her songs are pleasant and none really offend. Hell, some (just like Enya) are downright lovely.

The more I hear it, the more I like it! 7 > 8.

Yes, like many artists, she does have a strange (colorful?) fashion sense. She once dated Jeff Goldblum and he, although strange in his own way, is no fool. Here's a cool pic of her:

in general i really enjoy imogen heap's music, esp her collaborations with Guy Sigsworth, but based on her lyrics, i have to think she's not someone i'd want to be friends with.

7 —> 8

More listens is definately productive.
Oddly enough I can picture Beth Orton singing this tune. I like the way it begins but it gets a little trying by the end. I agree with Jdanzi, this will require more listens.
I haven't anticipated an album for a long time like I am Ellipse.
Imogen is great. I am a fan. I can't wait to get her new CD.
Wow - nice to hear new Imogen Heap!! Sounds great - can't wait for the CD release.
New Imogen FTW, sounds quite good, will require more listens, straight in at 7!!!!

Can't wait for the album!
At last, new Imogen! {#Sunny}
