Yeah, it's over now, but I can breathe somehow
When it's all worn out, I'd rather go without
You know its been on my mind
Could you stand right there
Look me straight in the eye and say
That it's over now
We pay our debt sometime
Well it's over now, yet I can see somehow
When its all gone wrong, it's hard to be so strong
You know its been on my mind
Could you stand right there
Look me straight in the eye and say
That it's over now
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
Guess it's over now, I seem alive somehow
When it's out of sight, just wait and do your time
You know its been on my mind
Could I stand right here
Look myself in the eye and say
That it's over now
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime

Sadly MTV Unplugged was the last great thing MTV did.

RIP MTV.

RIP Layne.

I AGREE!  ...sadly, they switched to "Guidos on the Beach" and worse!
Jerry's singing the lead on this one.  It's very much a Jerry Cantrell song.

Hmmm.... a financially responsible rock band.

maybe we pay our debts online?

Maybe these guys need to have a talk with Midnight Oil.

Yep, add me to the "we pay our debts on time" club.

Certain bands might want to work on their pronunciation, or at least adjust the lyrics.

LOL!! Me Too!

Yeah, I heard that, too. Changes the meaning a bit.

You can't tell me that that bass is unplugged.

Who does, other than Mozart?  Too high a standard.  Personally I have no plans.

I loved Alice in Chains back in the day, but I find this version of the song soooooo difficult to appreciate.  Did they even TRY to tune their guitars?  Could the singer hear himself in the monitor?  Maybe grunge is meant to be off key? {#Eek}
classic album! I knew what it was at the first few notes

Heyday of unplugged. Really only still enjoy the Nirvana and 10,000 Maniacs efforts.

The words feel like they had a few catchy phrases thrown together as a last resort. The guitar's pretty cool though.
Great hangover music ...
Grubby!
A toe-tapper, that's fur shure.  Happy song, despite the subject matter.
it's all over now - PSD
Like AIC but not a fan of the unplugged stuff - from anyone.

Love this version ,,,,
WT heck ... playing the whole CD, now.

A little bit of Alice is just not enough ...
good stuff!  (MTV?!!! cannot remember last time I saw ANYTHING on that channel : P
Tell me when it's over now.
Not a fan in general but really liking this. Nice bouncy groove and guitar work. They seem to be having a lot of fun doing this. Really liking the acoustic guitar in the bridges.
No Excuses, Heaven Besides You, Would — all great versions.

I loved the mid-90s
Great record.
This is GOOD!
More Alice in Chains Unplugged PLEASE!  Other 'unplugged' rock offerings would be appreciated as well.
Never liked their unplugged stuff.
What a great live band, saw them in 2013 good as ever.
More AIC please?
One of my favorite Alice in Chains songs ever

Dig this take on the song!  Going to give the rest of Unplugged a shot...AIC was always a bit too hard for me.  Now I'm thinking I missed out ?  Some great instrumentation in there.

The Sap and Jar of Flies EPs also show off AIC's musical diversity quite well.  Worth checking out.

Their unplugged album is great, with many tunes approaching - or even surpassing - the originals. Nutshell, Down In A Hole and Would? are standouts for me, but the whole disc is worth listening to.

This album has been stolen from me or I've lost it so many times I can't count, which means that I keep buying it because of the greatness of the entire arc of the album. From start to finish it's a wonderful listen. Agree with comiclint. Well worth it.

LOVE Alice in Chains, and LOVE this song.  You can play them an unlimited amount of times, and I will always appreciate ... RP, you should play this around "pledge" time !!!
Absolutely.

Beautiful song.  They can drag the end of this song out almost as long as they want to!

AIC, the other Alice.

Love it !
I always called these guys "the scary people."
I'm pretty sure this is the second to last song the band ever performed with Layne Staley. What a sad waste.

Edit 2012-05-06:

This is wrong, at least according to Wikipedia, they played at least a couple of additional concerts after this one. Certainly stands as a testament to the band.
Here's the cover:

Nice
I cannot listen to much Alice in Chains normally but this unplugged CD is one of my favorites.
Took a while to end up on RP.

AIC on RP, yey! \o/
I like it, Alice in Chains, who knew?
Eh...
