I thought the suits had come for me
Found alternatives to honesty
Body and soul were bought and sold
Patented and out of reach

So I reach, but it hurts, it kills,
It screams, and it fills
My heart with chills
And I take my pills
But I'm still
Tired of sleeping with the light on

But if it keeps the hair out of my eyes
Pack it up and send it home
For just one stab at the good life
That's enough and I'm sold

So I gave up all my wretched thoughts
And left them out for the less fortunate
And at the gates I'll skip the queue
Life's not living 'less you're sure to make it through

But now it hurts, it kills,
It screams, and it fills
My heart with chills
And I take my pills
But I'm still tired
Of sleeping with the light on

But if it keeps the hair out of my eyes
Pack it up and send it home
For just one stab at the good life
That's enough and I'm sold
Lord, I'm sold
Go on pack me up, I'm sold

Go on pack me up, I'm sold
Go on pack me up, I'm sold
Go on pack me up, I'm sold
Go on pack me up, I'm sold
Go on pack me up, I'm sold
Pack me up, I'm sold

If it keeps the hair out of my eyes
Pack it up and send it home
For just one stab at the good life
That's enough and I'm sold

wow = had to look because I Knew there was no way BNL was being played on here! lol!  I love BNL though :-) This guy's voice and style is identical.

I enjoyed seeing Dan and his fantastic band play at the Duncan Garage a few years ago. Playing live is where he shines brightest!

And now the BNL follow Dan!

the man at work in the FX department of the studio.

Clapping machine.
Dan played a pretty rousing version of this and other tunes closing out the main stage Friday night at his hometown Vancouver Folk Music Festival. He even popped out in the crowd to finish the night off with an emotional sing-a-long. His band was great and they put on a wonderfully energetic and sound-scapy performance. Highly recommended.

i saw dan mangan play a tiny venue in san francisco last year. he treated the gig like he was performing at the fillmore but still made me feel like he was playing in my living room. catch his live shows if you can, he's a wonder.

Puts me in mind of Johnny Flynn's Tickle Me Pink.
I really, REALLY like this song!  A little touch of Andrew Bird, but mostly just his own style.  I'd love to hear more from him!

I suspect Yoko wrote this song.

Love this song so much I want it on my I-pod
More I hear from him, the more I like.

Not sold on this. 4.
Nice!

My grandpa called it Hambone. My Brit friends recall the Hand Jive.

Thought it was the Bare Naked Ladies!

Sounds a little like Jil is Lucky too, but i agree it's nice.

I think that's the sound of several hands clapping. At least I hope so...otherwise he's on steroids...;)

Apparently, I like Dan Mangan. He always causes me to open RP to see whose tunes cheer me so.

Yup.

I saw Dan Mangen a couple weeks ago in Victoria and he blew me away. He was so humble, funny, talented and raw. I was super impressed. Go man, keep on putting out amazing stuff. Great summer music as well!

totally agree...why is he played so much? the robots song makes we want to hit things.

It may be the fact that you are sometimes driven to hit things that gets in the way of your enjoyment. {#Ask}

This man's just really good—-they more you listen, the more you dig him and his delivery and sense of humor. He always makes me smile and I sing the robot song a lot now.
I want to say that the guys on here who don't like him are probably the ones that beat me up in high school; but you know then I look at their profiles and the music they like and they don't suck. Maybe life isn't that simple anymore.

The album title says it all. {#Sunny}

I'm on board with Bill's evident love of this guy.

Catchy! {#Jump}
I like it - it reminds me of Some Say Leland.

Wow, nice follow up to Patty Griffin.  Love me some dobro!
