Sitting alone beside myself,
remembering how hard it used to be
Didn't have any money
Didn't have no girl
Every day I'd come home from school
No one was ever there to say "hello"
I tried to write some letters
Or learn to play my guitar

Television saved my life
Television saved my life
My life...

I'd go out to have some fun
Tried so hard to find someone
But then I go to some new place
And I remember your face
Anthony Hopkins, I knew you had style
Good things coming to those who wait awhile
Now I sink down in my chair
I am no longer there

No longer there!

Television saved my life
Television saved my life
My life...

I just had to put my two cents in on this track....I think it is a splendid piece of work.  The video adds a lot to it..   Cosmic track indeed !
I had to go look at the lyrics for this song, because I couldn't believe what I thought I heard: "Chucklevision saved my life"

As a kid who grew up with the Chuckle Brothers on TV I cannot hear anything but that
Television destroyed my life would be apt.
What an ignorance in the lyrics!

A few decades back I worked in a TV service department, one of the benefits (the only benefit) was going out to the tip with a load of knackered TV CRT tubes.

This tune is nowhere near as memorable as shooting the neck of the tubes with an air rifle.

It's not that it is bad, It just "isn't". Anything. Much.

So there.

This song is so extraordinary. It's just impossible to explain why.

There's a scene in a great film called, "Smoke" in which Harvey Keitel is showing photos to William Hurt. He took the photos every morning from the same spot across the street from his shop. Hurt flips a few pages and looks up at Keitel and says, "These are all the same" and Harvey puts his hand on the page to stop him from flipping it and says, "That's because you're going too fast."

He then starts to talk about the people in each photo....

You gotta listen, think, hear. There is more to music than what you hear sometimes.

Truly one of the most insightful comments I have ever read on RP...kudos...

Agree to the first part.
Disagree with the rest. Probably a good half of what I have bought over the past few years and listen to I found out about on Radio Paradise. I take pride in that I hardly know any of today's 'popular' music stars. But I do listen to a lot of great music.
This kind of reminds me of Casual Gods, an album Jerry Harrison from Talking Heads put out years ago.

It was but everybody was too busy eating Big Meals and playing video games to notice. On June 1st 2020, Trump tried to invoke Martial Law. The Military said it wasn't their problem. Then sent a formal letter to the effect on June 3rd. It was covered nationally.

Since then, Trump has tried to create conditions which would warrant Martial Law. He has vigorously tried to promote a race war and continues to do so at the time of this comment. All to enhance his chances at re-election and distract from his numerous crimes and failures.
Excellent. Thanks Bill.

On Fox News, no doubt.
Almost as poor as Moby

Then we'd never hear anything new.

If at first it seems too banal, listen again. Echos of Kraftwerk after a course of CBT.

Too Moby-esque for me.

The song becomes quite trancelike-trippy when you watch the video. Very fun, especially if you like old cartoons:

Perhaps if this song were truly "bland and non-emotional" you may not have been so inspired that you "HAD to" comment on it.  "Extraordiately"?
Yes it's look like Moby
This is nice, but why was I expecting a female vocalist?  Clearly sounds like something else back in my head ...  I'm also hearing Washed Out.
 Yes it is.  F1 wrote:

thank you oldsaxon!
I think television saved many lives.....I know, that's a sad commentary. BTW...this song is awesome in it's simplicity.
This is on a mix I have for work, when I need to sit and concentrate. Psybent music like this is the best thing ever when you have to code for a few hours without looking up. It does take me to another planet.
  • great  solo rendition   just think  how good it could be ...like, done by the black-eyed peas........?......made into cool crazy hard-hitting lectro-bop  instead of the slightly solemn solo-pop form it is in now......

It's hard to find music that you can lose yourself to

The Televisionary Oracle has spoken.  Shades of Rob B's work.
Does anybody else hear "junglevision saved my life".

Now coming to you direct from the deepest of Africa; Tarzan, all day, every day!

I wouldn't really know since I've never spoken with the composer(s) of this tune, but generally, recorded music is not a form of conversation.  Nice groove.

Would like to hear more from that album

I think this is one of the better songs I've heard in the last few years. I'm glad Bill chose to add it into the rotation!

Finally, a band I can relate to.
Liked it- very mellow- reminded me a lot of "Air"

About a 1:30 too long
cool little drone
