Over yonder in the graveyard
Where the wild, wild flowers grow
There they laid my own true lover
She'd gone from me, forever more

Fairer than the sweetest flower
Restless as the wildest way
Pored in with love deep as a ocean
This is the girl that I did win

I left her there back in the mountain
To see the world riches to gain
Oh, when I returned no earthy treasure
Could ease this heart so filled with pain

They saw high above the mountain
Beneath that little mound of clay
The girl that I returned to marry
So stand a mound of flowers did lay

I'll go lay you down and wonder
Lay aside my earthy gain
All I am undone in riches
Undone in sorrow I'll remain (x2)

This is a great song, but I hear it too frequently. Great songs on this station.
I particularly enjoy downloading blocks of music and listening in the car.

The past year or so I've come to believe RP has created a very long play loop. I'm not hearing much fresh material. That is especially true for the Rock Mix, but also notice on the Main Mix. Still, very good work. Thanks Bill.

There is no way RP has long play lists...they sit at the controls 24/7/365 for your enjoyment...stop the blasphemy now!
Hervoice suits the lyric!
the intro strings brings to mind Woven Hand.
Seen them a couple of times....they are the real deal.

Be right back...gotta go get my overalls and barn coat...
Aoife O'Donovan is an American treasure.
Sweet voice. I loved!

The vocalist is Aoife O'Donovan

so beautiful
Few songs make me tear up the first time I hear them. Rare gems like this make me sob. Perfect blend of vocals, lyrics and instruments. 10+
ya gotta check out The Steeldrivers first album/cd, Crooked Still sounds like they did
Love the singer's voice.

Well said.

Went to buy the album through the RP link and it came up with "Song Up In Her Head" by Sarah Jarosz, odd. Gonna see if I can find it and hope RP still gets it's cut.
My wife and I loved this track. We'll investigate and hopefully buy the album.

Dude, thats what headphones are for... and maybe marriage counseling.

Simply put... Excellent!
Okay, so perhaps the simplicity and purity of Murdoch's "some day soon" not so rare, this one is another inspired work, thanks.
A lot of folks would be surprised at the popularity of bands like this in New England. However, the old reels and such from Scotland, and the British Isles in general, had a huge musical influence there.
I'm loving the whole surge in string bands - Crooked Still, Trampled By Turtles, Infamous Stringdsuters, etc. I love Aoife O'Donovan's voice. (and she is a cutie!).
I heard this song back in September and bought the CD. Great stuff.

Manitoba?  I thought this band was from Massachusetts.  Wherever - cool sound.
Love it!
boston blue grass!
This is great stuff,...   :-)
Love the strings!
Yes, this is an excellent band!
Thanks for playing this song!  Check out Crooked Still's debut album, "Hop High", if you like this group.  Great progressive bluegrass from talented musicians, and the singing of Aoife O'Donovan is mesmerizing.

The more I hear this the more I like.
This reminds me a bit of "The Greencards".  Great.

I couldn't be more envious.  You've Prousted me right back to summers in southern Indiana, at one of the many music fests around Bloomington or over in Nashville....  Sublime.

Bill, this is one of your better sets:
Loreena McKennitt, "Huron Beltane Fire Dance"
     Show of Hands, "Roots"
     Crooked Still, "Undone In Sorrow"
Prog bluegrass. How cool.
Love love love love love this!

I am not very familiar with the WJs but I get a strong Nashville vibe from them, and even though Crooked Still has Nashville connections, their sound is anything but—they seem to be doing completely different things. I really like the direction they are going in. If 'Some Strange Country' is a taste of what to come, well, woooweeee!

Where did THIS come from?!?  Fiddle to DIE for.  *cranks it up*

My search show only this song being played by RP so far? WTF? This band is beyond awesome...  their current LP is the best thing I've run across since Shawn Colvin's 'Few Small Repairs'. I keep coming up with new favorite songs from it... a sign of a truly great work. These guys are hitting on all cylinders... they have chops and sensitivity beyond their years.

"Progressive Bluegrass" per the artist, according to Bill G. {#Sunny}
Sweet. Atmosphere abound. Wonderful musicianship and lovely voice.
I'm hearing 'darkness darkness'  the Youngbloods or maybe it's just those voices in my head again

Beautiful.

Maybe it just needs more cowbell... Or possibly a cacaphony of rude electric guitar and some show-offy drums?
I like this song a lot.  I also like "Shame" by Stabbing Westward. Gee - variety. How very unorthodox... {#Bounce}

Wow, just read the brief Wikipedia entry on this band, and the vocalist is Aoife O'Donovan. Her father is Brian O'Donovan who hosts the weekly radio show on PBS called, " A Celtic Sojourn." Sorry I missed them just last Sunday right here on Cape Cod.
Great strings - haunting

Nice selection

Saw them at 2010 Spring Strawberry - they were one of the top 3 bands, for sure.  Right behind Lyle Lovett and Richard Thompson...

long time fan, good to hear 'em here on rp!
{#High-five}

I have GOT to get a record by this group. i've loved everything I've heard. That cello is especially badass. Recommendations from the RP hivemind welcome!
Bluegrass for sure... beautiful and haunting....

I second that Yay for Bluegrass!

Lovely!

Nice arrangement - sufficiently complex to provide interest without taking attention from the vocal.

I really, really like some of the Walin' Jennys' stuff and I really don't like some other of their stuff (mostly the stuff that I think is sliding into Nashvillesque schmaltz). Your phrase "This band is what I wish the WJs were" hit a chord. I think this is what the Wailin' Jennys COULD be, but they seem to have a different vision of themselves than I (and perhaps you) do.

More please. Sounds great.
Yay for bluegrass {#Hearteyes}
...nice cover and nice music, too...
Nice - cello, banjo, violin - and those vocals are a sweet touch. I saw them on stage last year, and would definitely head out to see them again.
Well, well...Alison Krauss and Union Station, you have some competition! These guys cook, this is their 3rd album and each one has been good.
