I will never forget your healing hands my love
I thought my heart had stopped
I swore I had given up
I will never forget your healing hands my love
You gave me daylight you gave me sunlight

Turn the tape recorder on
He just left Jackie O for Marilyn Monroe
We're all bought and sold
For tobacco, firearms and alcohol
What's a pocket full of gold
Without a woman that you could hold
Can't afford to be on the back burner no more
Now I got a lot of places to go

Cause the actions of a few
Have put a world in harms way
And history has proven
That they killed our leaders dead
And I don't know about your right and wrong
I got a muse
From the east to the west
All I know is if I never said it before
I'm going to say it with my last breath

I will never forget your healing hands my love
I thought my heart had stopped
I swore I had given up
I will never forget your healing hands my love
You gave me daylight you gave me sunlight

Find something you can sell
Set you on a trail
Have a ball and a belle
Buy a ticket out of Hell
Not as far as I could tell

Very Well

Bubba I'm a bust your tail
My uncle Clarence hit
The hammer with nail
Wash your hand before
You come to the meal
Cut out the light
Cause it comes with a bill

Cause the violence of a few
Have put a World in harms way
And history has proven that they
Killed our leaders dead

Well I don't know about your right and wrong
I got a muse from the east to the west
All I know is if I never said it before
I'm going to say it with my last breath

I will never forget your healing hands my love
I thought my heart had stopped
I swore I had given up
I will never forget your healing hands my love
You gave me daylight you gave me sunlight

I will never forget your healing hands my love
I thought my heart had stopped
I swore I had given up
I will never forget your healing hands my love
You gave me daylight you gave me twilight

Never forget...

really, really nice. like it a lot.
Nice segue RP having Dido on before this song, who has sung with Citizen Cope
Props to that syncopated drum beat.
More Citizen PLEASE!!!
Unsung hero of modern pop music......... he was for a brief moment the darling of the music world......so many soundtracks and commercials.  Hope Cope is still doing well these days.
Ah, I remember this guy - that Let The Drummer Kick song
He seems to miss the beat/pulse from time to time
it's legal here and that song is so much better altered
Well who is this lovely creature who I have never heard before
Once again Radio Paradise introduces me to great music that is totally new to me! Thanks, this is really good!
in awe of the horn solo...
OK, last comment was 8 years ago so i thought I would jump in.  Would love to hear more Cope, especially from the Clarence Greenwood Recordings...
This is very good for the ears. Rim shot, check. Trombone, check. 7=>8
Mr. Greenwood has it going on.

You mean George Bush?   I refuse to listen to music with that man.

That comment made my night.

I like the "old scratchy LP" effect at the end.

Ironically, I'm seeing this comment at 4:20 am.  I know what you mean about serious testing.  One of the joys of being an "adult"...

wonderful soulful sound
I like the Copemeister.

Man i like Clarence.I could definetly listen to more of this. Like the merging styles. Dig that little bit of reggae bounce.
Never heared this before! Very Nice!

I like it.
Great bassline!
An 8 to be sure.

To claim that Clarence is ripping anybody off (vs the opposite) is being ignorant.  Homeboy's been grooving like this in DC for over a decade.

{#Yes} Longer than that, my friend! Go Cope!

Saw him solo down the 930 coupla months back, nice show, still workin it.
Met him a few times in Adams Morgan back in the '90s. Very cool cat. Closed a show at the Black Cat with a song called "Tyson:"

"...Got a pipe
called Tyson
and its gonna knock you out!"

Great to hear his music.

Here's to Cope! {#Cowboy}

Ben Harper + Ray LaMontagne
Gawd I love this song!! Makes some happy times :)
Had this as an earworm the other day.  Nice to hear it again, as an antidote. :)  I like it even better this time.
Saw him on the KCRW morning show recently. Interesting character. Earthy sound. New artist for me. Nice to see him here with Bill's mix.

Who is this homeboy, and why is he grooving the ignorant clams?

hysterical

Just saw this group the other night on SXSW. It was raining pretty good while he was singing. Seemed appropriate for song. Weird how his lips don't really move while he sings. I like them.

Oh and Ben Harper just came out or something? Check out Harper's "Excuse me Mr." from 1995's "Fight for Your Mind"

I have never heard of him but I put him on my shopping list after listening to this. This really makes me feel good.
I generally like him, but this is boooring!{#Sleep}
Nice recent interview on the World Cafe radio show with Clarence Greenwood here.
Uhh wow, this is one of the most blatant rip-offs I've heard. Listen to Ben Harper's "Excuse Me Mister" same chords for verse and for lyrics, even very similar phrasing.

This man is amazing!  I saw him live in Kansas City, MO.  Love his lyrics and music and thank my friend JB for the introduction!!

I second that!  Been a fan of CC for several years and seen him live twice. I'd take the opportunity to see him in action again anytime. I didn't know he had a new release out, thanks Bill.

Haven't heard this song before, but thought it was Citizen Cope.  Haven't heard him in years.  RP always surprises.

More like G. Love and Special Sauce.... quite likeable

He's trying to hard to sound like he's not trying too hard.

Even AudioTune doesn't help this guy...

You may be referring to Antares' AutoTune, software that allows pitch correction of a recorded vocal track.  It can even be used live, if I remember correctly.

I uploaded Brother Lee to the LRC a couple years ago and was blocked at the net.

Any linguists out there able to translate this into humanspeak of some flavor? Thanks for the Citizen Cope exposure, Bill. Overzealous novelty production noted, but there's a lot of soul and heart to Mr. Greenwood. How about adding "Brother Lee" to feature the great storytelling ability of this artist?

Even AudioTune doesn't help this guy...
Sounds like this guy is seriously medicated. No wonder he likes healing hands.
This song is the free download of the day on amazon.com.

Ridiculously too long for the material, and made me wonder if my sound card had failed.

And I like it, too!
So many critics.  Legends in their own minds.
Like this!
There is so much more from CC that can be offered here!
Reminds me of Ben Harper with a reggae influence. Very nice.
A very nice, well executed groove.  8
I think of him as Rap, but this sure sounds like Soul.
