There's a long hard road ahead
But a voice inside me said
You know there's something that you need to know
It's gonna be alright
Said there's something that you need to know
It's gonna be alright

And when in this life in this life
When I can only turn my chin
I know it's gonna be alright
When this big old town is closing in
And I have lost again

Here I could stay
But I'll keep moving on
Here I could stay but I'll keep moving on
Could be I won't be wrong

There's a long hard road ahead
But a voice inside me said
Said there's something that you need to know
It's gonna be alright
Said there's something that you need to know
It's gonna be alright

I very seldom give a 10, but this is just beautiful.

 Nicely said, LL48!
Beautiful. Just beautiful.

I bought this over the weekend, on the strength of this song, and the unusually spiky title track, both of which have been played on RP. IMO those are the only two distinctive tracks on the CD, the rest being typical smoothy but bland Sade (and one about "daddy's love" being seriously toe-curlingly schmaltzy and mawkish). I think RP's picked the best tracks from the CD, and IMO the rest is a little disappointing unless you're a Sade fan.

I've had this same experience with several other artists and songs played on RP!
Butta, pure butta...
SADE ALL DAY
Was this inspired by a battered woman. It certainly provokes that sentiment to me. ❤️

I could tell tell you, but i'm pretty sure that she'd get mad at me for talking about our private stuff....

I know what I'm listening to when I'm making love to Sade (in my dreams) and that's SADE!!  I've had a crush on her since the late 80s, she's top notch in my mind, great voice, great beauty, ahhhh.....I'm surprised at how few tracks of hers are on the RP list....only about 12....oh well....LONG LIVE RP!

I recently went to a cocktail party at a diplomatic residence and the host was playing Motorhead and other old metal stuff. It was bizarre, but my respect for the host increased exponentially that night. {#Cool}

She wins me over every time.  Love this.
Songwriting on Sade albums is hit and miss.  But Sade's timeless, wispy and ever seductive vocals can make pretty much anything sound good.  When there is a good song involved it is something that really cant be compared too.  This track is Sade at the near the top of her form.
Sublime - Stunning - Seductive...{#Notworthy}

Apart from loving that album cover, I have to say that this is one of Sade's darker works. I guess that's why I love it.  It's a different facet of her music that goes much more introspective and less mainstream than what she's done in the past.  Plus, it inspires me to write, and any music that can jump(start) my muse is okay in my book.

When I played a song from this album (via youtube) for the wife, she thought I was nuts or had abandoned all taste.  By the end of the song she was bobbing her head with a bit of a smile.  I have to say that I've really liked what I've heard from this album so far.

If you like this, check out her 2000 album, Lovers Rock. Much overlooked but full of beautiful songs, sang with more passion than in much of her other work.

I love her, but not for the reason you're talking about. My love is visceral, a little dirty, and not all together legal.
I saw her performing live at Ahoy Rotterdam, The Netherlands, earlier this year.
It was a breathtaking experience. That concert entered my personal 'concert top 5' straight away.
Incredible show, great mix of music (what a voice!, great band too), lightning and projections. Sade took the audience on a silky smooth dreamlike trip from the very first second of the show, until the very last one. It was simply awesome...

This is a boring and typically monotone. While her band has always been HOT and she's terrific in the eye candy department, she can sing maybe—MAYBE—a whole quarter-octave.

I appreciate the limitation of her range.
If a piano, guitar or any other instrument had unlimited notes on it, it would be very limited in it's scope of use and it's meaning both to the player and to the listener. It couldn't be mastered and therefore couldn't be effective to produce anything of real musical substance. The limitation of an instrument's range and it's tone, timbre etc are what make it recognizable, familiar and by that same limit accessible to the listener. Boundaries and limits inspire us to be creative and to explore around us. Boundaries are healthy and beneficial in all areas of life.
Though her voice may be limited it is haunting, elegant, effective and able to take me to places no other voice can.
Strange isn't it?

p.s. a quarter octave is only 3 notes. Maybe revise your assesment? :)

According to albumcredits.com, Mike Pela was the producer. He has a long history as a recording engineer, and it shows. Very nice work. I think the proper pronunciation of her name is Helen Folasade Adu. Helen. Very nice handle, but I can see the marketing sense in the change.

Her music is ageless anyway.  I had to look to see if it this is old Sade or new Sade.

Either way, it doesn't matter.  It's infinitely relaxing and pleasing. One of the few artists where the track/song simply doesn't matter to me, the artist just puts me in a magic place regardless.

Your 'assessment' of her vocal range is meaningful only to you.  It's her singing style which many people enjoy — she's not auditioning for the Metropolitan Opera.  Maybe you're not that bored with it; it's inspired you to write no less than three posts.

yawn

A very simple, clean, beautifully soft and sexy tune.   Sade' has a very distinct voice and style, and there isn't much of work that isn't lovable.

(reminds me..  I need to load some of her music on my MP3)

A simple and elegant song that highlights the simply elegant voice of Sade.  Her new work is a beautiful showcase of her skill.

Boring
This is less mechanical than the title track and at least one other that I've heard here. Nice. Just fine. 7
I'm already bored with this album. Not that I should expect anything different from Sade.
Even though it is the title track and the hit single, one got to listen to "soldier of Love".
It is certainly different from the known material. She's just sophisticated, but warm and
breathing. Once you get a bit older maybe some "elevator music" isn't so bad at all. Love her still!{#Cheers}

I ran to the computer to see if this really was Sade. I remember when she first appeared; we couldn't get enough, but very quickly it all started to sound the same. Perfect hotel reception muzak. But this does sound different. Not much, but enough for it to merit a run here.
Yes....yes...yes....yes!  {#Good-vibes}
certainly not one of her best efforts....boring
Wow {#Hearteyes}

had to turn off the saws for that one
Once i dreamt of an album,the songs, the cover and everything about it. In particular the artist. It was years before this beautiful woman eventually released it.

Kind of glad to hear Sade again after a long time. Would like her more though if she didn't have those off-key moments here and there.

Love Sade!
Silken, sultry... a warm tropical night.
