The faux (or faux sounding) horns nearly sink the song but Natalie keeps the ship sailing and brings it safely into port. Well done captain Merchant! {#Clap}

What is there not to like? I like her voice!

Really, reading the endless complaining that seem to fill these boards is tiring at times.
You will never have a playlist perfectly tailored to your tastes here, so why don't give the whining a rest?

Wow. I don't particularly like this song, but I don't hate it anywhere near as much as everyone else seem to.

How about a one week Natalie break?? Universally annoying.

Hear-hear! I cannot STAND this!
Her music is quasi-hippy pretentious as Loreena McKennit's is to New-Age Wikkanismology.  Icch.
Ugh...
Dull.
Why do you like her so much? {#Wall}
Make it stop!!!!!!
{#Yawn}
The cover says Selections from the Album "Leave Your Sleep."  There's 26 songs listed for this CD.  There were more?
I'm not really liking what I've heard from this 'selection.'

As a fan of reggae music, I find this personally offensive. Make crap out of your own style of music Natalie, and leave this alone.
pretty unoriginal song. It's like she woke up one day and said, "Reggae. Let's do Reggae today." Then took a non-reggae song and put some reggae sounds in it, hired a Jamaican guy to say some words, and published the song. Oh how Fun!
I came in to see what others were saying. Because I thought it was me. Surely, this is supposed to be a great song. I've given it more than a few chances to catch on, to see if it would grow on me. But...gack. Hate it. Big horns, reggae, trite lyrics. And is that calliope music? Just too much of a mishmash.

Follow it with Skankin Pickle's Fakin Jamaican and I'll raise my rating 1 point.
Awful. No soul at all. Karoke anyone?
How about a one week Natalie break?? Universally annoying.

While not one of my favorite tracks off this album, it still warrants a 8.

Pretty nice and very clean.

3 * 1 = 9?

how about generic pop reggae tune * incredibly trite lyrics = 2. {#Snooty}
Not bad for being out of the biz for so long.

Some better songs on the cd though.

fake reggae: not good. Natalie has many, many excellent songs. this is not one
It should be called 'Leave Your Sheep'. She could lose the braying.
This song is annoying.

Leave Your Sleep is a concept album by Natalie Merchant and is her fifth solo album. The album is "a project about childhood" and is a collection of music adapted from 19th and 20th century British and American poetry about childhood.

Right on. It's definitely not a children's CD, it's an impressive project that Natalie's completed here ( 26 songs ) and the reviews I've read have been glowing. I've also liked the few songs that I've heard off the recording. And that album cover is a winner.

How many years did she spend not recording? You'd think in that time she could have found a vocal coach to help her loose that incredibly annoying nasal quality she has.
I keep hearing "the wheels on the bus go round and round......."

Yes - there was an interview on NPR this past weekend featuring several of the songs. All were uniformly painful to hear. Well intentioned, I suppose - but absolute dreck to my ears.

If I could look at her picture but not have to hear this song I'd be happier.  Oh wait... volume control!!!
Hold on, I am busy imagining an owl and porcupine -
Simply awful.
{#Lol} I'm officially no longer surprised by the suckness I hear on RP.

First to rate it.  Yes, I rated this within seconds of it starting. No, I had no idea what the song would be like.  Just to annoy people more, I rated it 10.  For a brief time this song had a rating of 10.0.

I now see it took a rather rapid flight downward to 2.8.

Oops.  Back to 3.5.

Stay tuned...

oh I do love her!
but maybe not this song...
