This whole album is quite remarkable. Which is remarkable in and of itself given that an artist of Tom's history/magnitude/capability can continue to put out masterpieces. The vast majority of those that continue to put out music decades later after their first "generally" begin to decline in what they create. I would posit that his last two albums really are quite excellent and are worthy of being judged against his earlier work. 

Okay, let's the haters come at me for this generalized statement.

Too USA?  

I doubt it.  People in British Commonwealth and many other countries have been enjoying American blues and country-influenced modern pop and rock songs for more than a few decades now.

Oh I dunno I think it has a nice slow bluesy groove to it. I can see being in a smoky bar, nursing a glass of whiskey, and crying about the woman I lost, while on stage the singer is belting this out.

Whoah...was it really Summer of '85 when I saw these guys play Red Rocks? I might be mistaken, but it seems that Dire Straits and Bob Dylan were also in that line-up. In any case, I liked the Mudcrutch stuff, but was so glad they put out this record. They ROCK as a group!

I like Petty, but I'm not a fanatic, he has a bunch of decent stuff.  I have to say that this album is GREAT!  It may be his best.  An interesting blend of songs and sounds.  And just about every song has a great guitar lick.  RP introduced this album to me and for that I thank you.

I have a very hard time rating any song done by Tom Petty and Mike Campbell lower than a 9. I think of
Free Fallin',  I won't back down, You wrecked me babe and Runnin' down a dream, his solo work on Wild flowers, (although Campbell did the lead work) to some wonderful tunes on The Traveling Wilburys I and II and so, so much more. It's a fine body of work.  The album was released on Blu-Ray disc, if you have that capability.  With the DTS-HD Master Audio, theoretically, it's the sound of the master tape, what they heard in the studio.

No so afflicted by this excellent and soulful rendition, but when RP dials up a set of tunes that are just too vanilla or lightweight for my peculiar tastes, I switch over to Creamy Radio for a while ( creamyradio.com ) A somewhat younger orientation on the playlist, and plenty of daring experiments. Pretty soon, however, it hip-hop and bubblegums at me until I return home to RP. Try it, some good new rock music aired there.

...you know, i'm surprised to be not as impressed by this album as i expected to be, given my reaction to the individual tracks i'd heard here on radio paradise...on reflection, i think mojo is a case of its parts proving greater than the whole...

...several of the individual tracks are outstanding, taken in isolation, which suggests that the source album should be a work of inspired sessions, but in actuality it comes across as vaguely derivative, even a presumtuous affectation, by comparison to the genuine article it seems to imitiate...don't misunderstand me, it's not bad by any means, it's just sort of - eh, really, homogenised when listened straight through...

...i may have had a more positive reaction if mojo's individual tracks hadn't built such anticipation in my mind beforehand, but really?..i guess i just don't go for them turnip greens...

I keep doing a double take with the songs on this album because they rock, and they sound like Tom Petty, and I'm thinking, jeez, how old is that guy... this is an amazing album!  These guys still rock.

My wife bought me MOJO for our anniversary, I highly recommend buying it.

I've found over the years that if I like a new TP album on the first listen, then I don't tend to like it as much over time.  HOWEVER, if it takes a few listens to catch the vibe of the album, then it usually indicates that album will become a "classic" TP album, at least to my ears.

MOJO definitely takes a few playings, but I'm really diggin' it.

Hi Bill.  Did you know that when you search 'Radio Paradise' on the new Shoutcast directory (they just released an updated search beta) you don't get Radio Paradise?  You have to Show More at the bottom and you're the 11th match.  #1 is Radio Vlva (Vulva?) BG.
