I like them separately in this song, but agree with you about Cyndi overpowering the chorus. I prefer Sarah's more focused emotion over Cyndi's more abrasive emotion, as you put it.

It's a delightful song, and always has been. The sentiment is wonderful, as is the tune. The addition of Sarah McLachlan's voice is lovely. Though she hasn't written much of value as of late (to my knowledge), her voice hasn't lost it. 4-1/2 stars.
