Half mile from the riverside
Square wood building hard and white
I'll take water, I'll take night
I will swim through snow and ice

Laid your story down on me
Forced inside the good belief
Now I only dream my words
Fly away like blackened birds

Oh I feel these lessons burn inside the person I've become
Edges curl and darken as I do what has been done

Cheek on floorboard, hand in fire

Little sister dressed in white
Last day she was seen alive
Walking to the riverside

We will never get to hide from it no matter how we run
All things come to find us and we'll do what has been done

Have your holy, I'll have mine
Soil and birch and open sky
All our stories some day go
Dust from air and earth from bone

Oh I hear the ancients calling that we'll know from where we've come
There on that horizon we will see what has been done

Any chance of posting this in English?  Or maybe before you hit the bottle?

Music gotta be Daniel Langois.

Producer credit on the album is David Travers-Smith, and none of the guitar credits are Lanois, so nope! Though I'm sure whoever is playing that guitar is a fan of his.
Working and listening; this song comes on RP and I think, "Jus' gotta be the Jennys".
Luv ya Nicky!
the jennys are fantastic in concert...and very funny, too

Lying on my bed with my fluffy dog by my side it is heaven to listen to these women. Okay, havta get that album.
For these voices...oh what I would not do...

These ladies aren't bad - but the least you can do Bill, if you're going to keep tricking my ears with their name, is to play a little Waylon Jennings now and then! {#Cheesygrin}  Homage, baby, homage.

No thanks. This is lovely on the ears and the women's voices are soothing and smooth. Waylon Jennings fails on all three counts, at least. Funny, I can't bear C and/or W - Whiskeytown's effort a few songs back sparked a gag reflex and insta-mute - yet I really take to most of the Wailin' Jennys' output. Maybe they're just C without the W, or maybe a variant of C that doesn't invoke denim-clad alcoholics with tattooed necks and  'relationship issues' drowning their sorrows in some hick bar (kinda like you can see in Withernsea) to the accompaniment of horizontal gittars. Anyway, 8 from the seduced Nottingham jury.
What about composing more than 8 bars of music and repeating them 50 times? Yawn.
Exquisite guitarwork.
Coma inducing..no thanks

Introduced to me on RP. Just saw them last night at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, CA. Very nice show, just as pretty and pure as the CD tracks. They are all songwriters with about equal contribution to the live show. A few songs from other writers but most of their work is home grown.

I know this is hopelessly biased, but I love the Jennys, and they almost always get a 10.
snag this album...this is my least favorite on the album, and its still good.
Thank you for playing new Jennys Bill!
Love this band!
really good stuff
smooth
Reminds me of the album Jenny Lewis did with the Watson Twins.  Wonder if this album us as good.
Just saw The Jennys in Norfolk Va, and they are one of those groups that are better live. They sang One Voice to perfection.
A penny for Jenny - not a penny more!

Music gotta be Daniel Langois.
...........Nice harmonizing ..........
I got to see the Jennys last summer in Winters, CA. Excellent show...I gave serious consideration to driving to Sebastipol to see the next night's show, but it was sold out
a bit too slow for me. They do have nice voices though

The whole album is a winner.
