its made up of lonely moments
there was always a moment there when i knew
you always gave instalments
always knew u concentrated and grew

and i believe in reinvention
do you believe that life is holding the clue
take away all the lonely moments
give me full communication with you

your smile shine a little light, alright
dont hide, shine a little light
give up on your pride

do you believe in reinvention
do you believe thar life is holding the clue
any way to face the silence
any way to face the pain that kills you

your smile shine a little light, alright
dont hide, shine a little light
give up on your pride

give up on your pride, the moment's gone
give up on your smile, life is long
so i seen a bad dream, that you were gone
i got bitten on the soul, my blood will run

give up on your pride, the moment's gone
give up on your smile, life is long
so i seen i bad dream, you were gone
you're bitter and cold, my blood will run

I bought the cassette and it is running hot in my dobly deck
This album is flat out great, shame they only did a single album, and an EP.

Has anyone had luck ever finding this album?  So frustrating bc there are some great songs but difficult to find.

after listening to a bunch of the tracks on this disc on various places on the web, I found a used cd in the UK... and it wasn't cheap. But I bought it anyways, a good move on my part. The vocals are so smooth, and the beats on these tracks are sooo solid - sort of like a love child of Shriekback and Chemical Brothers.

I love the song BLISS.  Great Beat!

Sounds a bit like Jerry Harrison's Man with a Gun
Excellent riff.  Reminds me of Beethoven and U2.  The simpler the better for the main theme.
I'm hearing Alabama 3. Would be good to hear them here too Bill & Rebecca

Really really wish these guys would put out more music. So underappreciated, so good. The whole album is a masterpiece.

From the varoius comments over the years this sounds like... Simple Minds, U2, KC and the Sunshine band and INXS among others.

That's fine in my book so a solid 8 from me!
Good, but secondarily - reminds me Simple Minds starting.
Starts great... then quickly becomes boring.
Too bad.

Most excellent song. But so is every cut on this album, which is definitely worth buying. Meccano mind was their only album, sadly, but Fluke is also worth a listen.

My thoughts exactly!  Well not so much "sounds like" but sends one's memory back to both thinking: "cover?"
This is a GREAT song by a band I've never heard of. Excellent. Thanks Bill for introducing me to so much great new music!
do I hear Collective Soul + Billy Idol?!
Sounds like a slight rip off of a famous Kc & the sunshine tune to me?
Meh!
great set so far Bill

U2/KC.

A thought so profound I cannot even get to the depths or height of such a concept. Even having life-cycled through both generations. Good job.

It's kinda cool but veering a tad close to bono and his chums for my liking.
So unexpected @ 1:05am on September 11, 2015! Just about to go to bed and one of my favorite songs appears. Thanks Bill. Random thought but relevant to the date....If only those who sanctioned the attack on the WTC would have given up on their pride and left well enough alone. We don't know who you are (were), but have our suspicions.

Half of the talent of Syntax is from a band called Fluke who have a very similar sound. Fluke have a large and amazingly good back catalogue. . . here

I
f you like this track then I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Talented band.  Good stuff and good album.

No hay problemo.  I would never suggest dubbing Almodovar, who I love.  I have seen all his movies.  It would not make sense to dub him really.  Let me elaborate.  I highly recommend Michael Haneke, the Austrian director.  I've seen all his movies except one, Funny Games, which has two versions, both written and directed by him.  The same script in fact, but one version he made in English, which I saw, but I have not seen the other version. A true masterpiece in my humble opinion.  My point was that if I have a choice, I prefer to watch in my own language without subtitles.  I don't like dubbing.

Funny Games is horrifying... isn't it? I started the foreign language version and ended up fast forwarding through the last 2/3 because it just got too sadistic

Could not have said it better myself.

I somewhat disagree with your disagreement. I'd rather read subtitles. It's distracting to see the mouth speaking French, German or something else, but hear the language of English. It's watching dialogue out of sync with the lip movement. Part of the context of a foreign film in its original language is the nuance and inflection of the words. The German of Das Boot dubbed in English? Absolutely nein. The lovely French of Quatre Cent Coups or the Japanese of Rashomon washed out by a voice actor reading a script? No way. The rapid fire Spanish of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown lost in translation? No, gracias. As for the visuals of a film being the most important thing, yes, for the most part. But context and subtext reign and in some movies that is not necessarily more conveyed by action than by what people say to each other and how they say it in the original, even if the subtitles abridge the specific words.  The enjoyment is not hindered but often enhanced by just hearing the language.

I have a few objections to this.  I am a film buff, so I am not one of those illiterate people you cite.   When you read subtitles in any film, you are really reading watered down text meant for ease in reading, and to allow the viewer to keep up with the film and still watch it.  I generally disagree with you here.  Watching text is not the same as watching a movie, and we lose too much by doing this.   It's better than not watching the film at all, but there is nothing wrong with wanting to see the actors' expressions while speaking, among other aspects of the viewing experience.   This is often much more important than the dialogue.  The visuals of a film are the really important thing.  This is hindered when reading subtitles.

Love the guitar intro to this interesting song.  Vague nod to KR and Gimme Shelter.
Scrolling down I see lots of listeners heard one musical reference or another.

8 to 9
for reinvention.
I run to this song.     My PB mile pace is with this. :)
First time I've heard this song.  The opening made me stop what I'm doing and just listen.  Nice suspenseful build of energy and tempo in the middle.  I also get the Soprano-esque vibe from the baseline when it kicks in.  Nice vocals at the end.  I like it.  Ok, now back to work.
New band for me and I quite like them. Thanks again RP!
Oh mon dieu, la musique d'Alice Nevers le juge est une femme sur Radio Paradise :D

Yep. If they give you subtitles you miss some of the facial expressions but preserve the emotion in the actors' vocalizations. If they dub English over the native tongue you preserve the facial expressions but the inevitable mismatch between the visual and the aural can make a great performance seem cheesy.

And then sometimes reading the subtitles helps conceal production or performance flaws.

Of those trade-offs I'll usually take the subtitles, if I have choice...

Thank you.  It is rare and cause for celebration indeed when anyone here agrees with me.  {#High-five}  {#Bounce}

(please don't read any other posts by me {#Stop}, cuz you will probably not agree ever again! {#Lol})
Superb ending to my sunny Friday afternoon.  Have a lovely weekend, folks.  Thanks again to RP xx

Those smokin' background vocals are really what's putting this song in overdrive, especially at the end. Awesome!
